I think it's dishonest to keep claiming that Archie fans don't know that the comic is ooc or that they all want it to replace the games. Back when Archie was still going the reputation of the games was all over the place and there wasn't this impression that the games have a perfect Japanese super canon. People judged 06 Sonic differently from sa2 Sonic instead of just calling it "game Sonic" collectively. Portraying canon Sonic in his relationship with Elise was seen as a much bigger offense than what Archie was doing. People knew what was proper for each Sonic.
