Just grab Harm spell and invest everything else into Charisma till you hit 20 so you can max out your followers. Followers will become your personal ganksquad that you can move around with F1 key. Quicksave like a scumbag and reload each time the game RNGs a follower out of existence. Tarant sewers are good to farm some early XP as you can kite the mobs there - grab agro and run around, the companions will kill them off. Note also that you gain XP from attacking, so always be casting harm. Do invest into Persuasion 3 times at the earliest (before maxing Charisma). Stack all armor you can find on companions. Grab the dog early when you go to Ashbury (free companion that doesn't eat a slot) and be mindful that if you don't pick up the dog first thing when you enter that town, it will be killed in an hour. Some guy on a forum 12 years ago said that you can solo the game as mage with dog just by upkeeping magic barrier (first level spell from Force school) on it, but I didn't test yet.

Story is great and doesn't even feel that unfinished, I liked the open-ended finale.
