I have an announcement! I realised that waiting for NISA and the ratings board to un-shit their own pants was a losing endeavour. I could be waiting weeks for a decision that never comes. Towa wouldn't sit around waiting for a rescue (okay aside from the time she did just that in Cold Steel 4, ANYWAY..), she'd be proactive and solve her issues herself. So I decided to just jump through a few hoops, make a few accounts, transfer a little currency and now I'm downloading Trails beyond the Horizon. In twenty gigabytes time, Towa's new game awaits! So an artist called Renatus.Z submitted an OC called Renatus to Pixiv Fantasia, and Leva’s original designer, Infukun/ZAGALA, lifted her design from this Renatus character. Then, apparently, the artist Renatus.Z went on to draw some art for Girls’ Frontline as well. Though I don’t think it’s official. Here’s one such image. I find that kinda cool, he created an OC which inspired another OC then he drew fanart of that second OC he inspired. Shame neither Renatus.Z nor Infukun work on GFL anymore. Okay I'll explain the joke for clarity. So in Trails there's an important character in the backstory called Professor Claude Epstein. He basically invented the current technology that the world revolves around today. He has been referenced in the background since the very first game (well before any Epstein drama IRL) but the current arc is the first one to actually make him and his creations plot relevant. Including, yes, the search for his diaries and the content within. This leads to some very funny moments out of context, like how it turns out that Towa's grandfather knew Epstein because they were both scientists and, as we all know, all old people know each other. Towa herself has never met Epstein because he passed away 50 years prior to the games starting. I'm sure NISA were having a good chuckle when they had to translate lines like this.
Also during the conversation a cute little CG of Towa pops up just in case anyone playing did the unthinkable and forgot what Towa looked like.
