A lot of people argue that if you don't raid you don't need the gear, but you don't need the gear to clear the savage raids either, getting the best gear available is a strong incentive for many to get into raiding to begin with so why not just give us more gearing paths and instead make savage gear more of a bragging right similar to ultimate? What if we could not only reach max ilvl through a variety of activities but also have multiple deeper and more interesting choices for gear? We actually had set bonuses on some gear such as GC gear and this could be one way to make gear more interesting, I'm sure people could come up with plenty of other ways to help make not just the gear itself more interesting but also the process of obtaining it.
