I just realized that the "trve" tekken people keep talking about wanting to go back to is more of a myth than anything else. This is not to say sidestepping hasn't been consistently nerfed or that especially Tekken 8 has been flattening situations to make them a lot more binary, all of those are certain criticisms. But very often this trve Tekken ends up just being Mishimas thinking Tekken is two people standing at range 3 waiting to see who does EWGF first with no mixups, no poking, no lows other than the occassional hellsweep.
