The inescapable thing is the usual flow of extractions still aren't exactly things that click for everybody and that's where I see the reality check coming through. The problem Destiny always had was that Bungie was always so reluctant to build new truly evergreen pieces of content and to support them long term with the game. What happened to new strikes? Where is the pure roguelike mode we should have got three years ago? Why do they go years at a time before they add maps to PVP? What happened to the infinite forest tech? Unique activity paths all the time every time? Why is this not all over the game? Instead they focus on seasonal activities all fated to be removed. We feel the lack of content because they built a treadmill around the smallest amount of content possible and they been squishing that down ever smaller for years until we get to this point right here where they're selling glorified episodes as full expansion drops. There is no excuses here. This is design philosophy, resource allocation and naked contempt for you personally. Yes contempt. They want you gone. They want an excuse to leave this game behind because they think they know better and have better in Marathon. The next big thing. But I'm going to make a bold prediction: Marathon is going to fail and I mean fail ugly. A studio killer. There is no reality where Marathon meets the expectations Sony has for it. No world where they got what they paid for to the tune of billions out of a studio that folds like a fucking lawn chair when they're asked to build a single PVP map a Modder could turn in after a few weekends.
