How do you efficiently used a portable crafter? According to the guide it's supposed to be possible to get 10k hides in ten minutes but I only managed about 1700 in five. It doesn't seem possible to increase my rate by 3x unless I can place the crafter immediately beside the bank but it doesn't allow you to deploy them within several spaces.

After looking at the rs3 roadmap, I'm thinking about giving it a try after the 2nd deep sweep scheduled for autumn if the 4th raid in osrs ends up being shit, which is getting more likely given the osrs jmods continual insistence on sucking off every streamer imaginable. Haven't played the main game since early 2008 (and a month in 2012 to help my friend get a clan citadel). My question - how feasible would it be to make a new character (not ironman) and progress through the content by release date? E.g train and make gear to kill kbd, get d-med + few other unique drops, move to KQ, get d-chain, etc?

I began leveling up my necromancy a while ago. I was sort of surprised how easy it was. All the long hard hours I put into leveling up the other combat skills seems like a waste now. None of these moves are actually to appease the players. None of it was actually voted on or even really discussed. The closest they got was rolling back pick pocketing when it was especially dumb. None of the changes really benefit the player either, beyond letting people pretend that they're playing "the right way" now that there's no alternative.
But it does make the player numbers seem higher than it would otherwise be by pretending to be big changes that people "voted on" and should check out (were so back!!), and would more or less force people that do actually decide to level to spend time leveling instead of relying on lamps from mtx to level instead and thus make player engagement higher. All of which would look good to prospective buyers looking for an "established" and "popular" mmo/ip to buy.

From what I understand about weapon/ability damage, for a peasant who is leveling there's no weapon available which actually makes a difference in damage and things are calculated in a way that all standard crafted weapons deal the same damage. I don't view the monotonous things like fishing or agility to be fun or what I want to do in the game. I view these as a stepping stone to get to what I actually enjoy.

Honestly, I hate most of the skilling in RS because it's genuinely just boring. Sit and click on a rock to mine it. Sit and click on a pile of dirt to excavate it. Click on a spot on the water and sit there. Click on... you get the idea.

So you're probably asking- why do I play the game, then? The answer is really easy:

I genuinely love the world, the story building, the questing, and the bossing content.

While I hated archaeology as a skill to train because it was mind numbingly dull, I LOVED the lore behind it and all the mysteries.

While I hated agility as a skill, it allowed me to complete the entire Elf storyline and that is my favorite quest line in all of RS.

The thing for me is that while I hate the training, I'm willing to endure it because I think what it unlocks for you is so worth it.

My younger self RAGED at the idea some net bro with more money than brains. Could come in and just BUY stuff that took days weeks or even months to achieve in a fraction fo the time.

My older self with a 40 to 60 hour work week, plus kids, plus a house to maintain. I appreciated the concept that if i needed to buy a bond or some keys to allow me to keep up with the lifestyle my younger self had in game when i had time to hit Nex for 5 to 10 hours every night. Was there, and i could speed myself back to where i wanted to be without sacraficing my IRL time to do so.

Now mind you i have played 25 years on basically just 1 account, and i maxed a decade ago almost. Along with all the bossing i did. I rarely felt the need to buy these things. A handfull of bonds here or there for times like when... and new item for my favorit style Mage came out and i didn't want to drain my bank. That 8 month period where i only had an 30 min a day window to play and was running out of money.

There is something to be said for both play styles we each have 24 hours in a day. How we spend it can be entirely diffrent, and giving some grace to the guy who works all the time is needed as well as acknowleadging the effort it took the 17 year old to solo grind Amascut for a Tumekins light over a weekend. Is also needed.

My real hope is Jagex realizes this and a balance can be found.

Haven't really done any bosses except a bit of cerb on hellhound tasks (only get a few kills per trip), and am just now trying araxxor, but have only gotten like 6 kc and have died a number of times (usually from getting overwhelmed in final phase and tanking hits rather than dodging). I'm using ranged to deal with the spider spawns and using thralls, w/ melee crush weapon. I don't think it's a dps issue, rather bad movement and lack of familiarity with mechanics.

Any advice on how to get better at bossing in general and any kind of ladder/progression I should follow?

The thing i find most hilarious is that aura removal would have fixed the afk length that thieving had for all the newer mobs bar tithers i am pretty sure as most high level and newer pickpockets need aura for 15 minutes afk. Yet the reason for changing this is they weren't happy with the xp (pretty sure they mentioned gp as well i could be wrong) you were able to get with no effort which you needed 2 high level quests to do so.

So what do they do instead of just nerfing the xp? They think that changing pickpocketing to have shorter afk timers will change anything when the act of pickpocketing itself in game requires very, very, very little effort in the first place. All these changes will do is open more people to afking it over something else they afk that is between 3 minutes and 6 minutes or whatever the time will be with the changes. Xp and gp will change very little alongside the effort still being near non existent

Crystal mask was always a 5 minute timer and if you needed light form and didnt have the facet it was less than that.

Personally i don't have much time to be playing this game manual anymore and afking was my go to way to still interact with the game. I was so relieved when they increased the afk timer as it meant i could get to the kitchen to prepare food, but during the times it was only 5 minutes it was very stressful and more often than not i would have logged out in the middle of combat or my cannon had despawned due to inactivity in a instance which is a hassle and a half to set things back up again simply because you auto logged.

I ask that you please read what I am saying and listen to what I have to say. I bring this question up in hopes of seeing how this game can become a better experience for all players. Logs barely sell for anything, firemaking is mostly useless other than health benefit for fights and all you have left to use logs for is fletching. There's no other benefit to the skill. Why has Jagex not done anything to improve this skill?

This game has been out over 10 years and little has changed about Woodcutting over time to make it more beneficial to players. Beyond quest requirements really not much of a point to woodcutting by itself anymore. No point really at all unless you leveling Firemaking or Fletching which one skill is mostly useless and the other had a point, but you can buy nearly anything you can make from Fletching faster than getting the logs and fletching from GE if you have any decent source of money making.

But training a skill solely for the sake of having it maxed should not be a reason to train it.

The big problem with woodcutting is that you get shit xp when cutting logs that are worth a lot and you get shit gp when cutting logs that are good xp. Additionally Kingdom of Miscellania screws all prices up anyways, because it pretty much eliminates the need to train woodcutting to be able to train firemaking/fletching.

Woodcutting doesn't really reward you for leveling up, as it doesn't really get that much faster the higher you level up.

Jagex keeps catering to the bossing/pvm community and not to the skilling community. You can camp araxxor/celestials/raids and get 100x the skilling supplies you could get from normally skilling. Really, look at all the skills nowadays. All the best methods are 0 resources. Seren stones, waterfall fishing, crystal trees (up until crystallize came out). Even Runecrafting via runespan until the recent abyss buff basically phased out real runecrafting.

i'm in a similar boat and while milling around in f2p i have seen that inflation is so rampant that 100m isn't nearly as bad as it sounds and they reworked death costs at some point so now its incredibly cheap to die

The agility course XP boost doesnt offset the removal of silverhawks
Even if they increased course experience by 10x, I still wouldnt enjoy running the same courses over and over again.

Agility courses are really boring content, silverhawks let us skip that and now we're being pushed back to the agility courses that are still just as boring, just with a slightly increased xp rate.

Maybe I'm early to this take, we'll see how the community picks up in January 2027.

The fact that for a long time the best way to do agility is to use an obstacle and spam click. Says a lot about the skill. And instead of fixing the skill and giving afk options and an option where you have higher intensity with good rewards? They lower xp from obstacles. Agility is the worst skill. I play an Ironman so I have no stakes in silverhawks. But I think they were a good thing.

Agility deserves to be skipped (or changed). Change my god damn mind!
Issue with agility has always been that it’s click in a circle. The ones that I find the best are hefin and anachronia. For anachronia, you can actively surge and dive for more xp. Hefin can be a total brain shut off. Like getting your ass fucked. Get your cursor in the right spot and you can foot pedal while watching tv and still get optimal rates.

Agility has always been a super slow skill. I think people have gotten so used to sulverhawks and the speed of current training that a 120-130k an hour method is awful.
im talking about silverhawk feathers being planned to be removed without a planned update on making agility entertaining arriving beforehand when I first got Membership I beelined for agilit in order to get the Agile equipment. And within minutes of my second course, thought your first sentence near verbatim

I think though this is nailing an important aspect- while the experience rates are AWFUL, the actual intrinsic experience is awful too.

Well lads you know how it is. I just got back from doing a herb run and boy did my anus hurt. Yeah I know should have packed a silver fork but fuck me how are we supposed to remember everything? This game has so many items I always forget to take something I need. Anyway I felt in need of some pain relief so I went to the apothecary guy in Varrock. But bugger me days, behind the counter was Mod Blkwitch again. .So I received another round of dragon dildo up my poop chute. I think I could take that in my stride since I am used to being assfucked by Jagex now, but what gets me is all the fucking drool drips off those monstrous gums of hers. Slides down your neck like snot in the most unpleasant way.
Anyway once she done I picked up my shit, brushed myself off and limped off to the River Lum to do a spot of fishing. What better way to recover my composure than to have a nice relaxing time catching some salmon and trout? So I found a comfy spot under a nice shady tree and began to cast. Almost immediately I saw a big splash as something emerged from the water.
"Aha! My first fish!" I thought.
But no, it wasn't a fish. It was Mod Blkwitch once more, hanging onto my fishing line. She leaped ashore and gave me yet another savage ass fucking, all the time making that annoying "Hahaha!" laugh of hers in that weird accent.
Okay so by this time I was done. What had began as a simple herb run had become an ass ache and then had progressed into painfully worn out rectum now full of gooey Jagex cum. Or "Jagcum" as some players call it. Obviously I needed a new bum hole so I rang "Rick's Rectum Repairs" and asked if they had time to do a full ass transplant. But they told me they are fully booked for the next month on account of all the players who think the game is saved yet finding out that the assfucking never stops.
So I guess I am just going to get used to wearing diapers for now. Damn. I hate wearing diapers.
