If the format was like older Digimon anime then Tomoro being in the underground colosseum could by itself take as many as five episodes just fighting random people and surviving, with of course heavy exposure scenes in between battles where he is being fed, you are shown how they are treated, he could bond with other prisoners, have some worldbuilding through other captives' stories, make Tomoro develop a real sense of fraternity with them while being increasingly, deeply distraught by the shenanigans of the higher ups. (Which is already what is happening during this cour, but it could be so much better done)He would improve as a fighter as well which will be important for the next step of the story. All the while, you'd have scenes of Kyo and the rest looking for him and inquiring, until they eventually find his wheareabouts. Then the Raito fight happens and whatever will come about next week can take place. This could also happen over a few episodes, just like Tomoro finding out about the defeated fighters getting coldhearted, in tandem with everything else that I mentionned, could.1/2
