It has the Boost as part of Sonic's moveset, but it's not a central mechanic. It's not what I expected to get out of the Sonic series, but it's a fun normal 2D platformer with unique original zones and a good amount of content. I also like the Wisp power ups, and searching for Red Star Rings. In terms of what it's going for, the only part I don't like are the boss fights, especially when half of them are lazily recycled. But the disappointment coming from a Sonic fan expecting a Sonic game is understandable, this is not a good Sonic game, it's a good NSMB game with some Sonic elements slapped on top
