Melee isn't bad and hasn't been since the melee rework. Even before then it was okay. After the rework, melee has been great with one issue: You need a good weapon. The thing is that it was easy to get good weapons from Settlers/Gambling, the tree, etc. So if those things did get nerfed too heavily then maybe it will be a bit annoying to play melee this league.

Just played D2 after more than a decade, it is somewhat fun, but holy shit is it cumbersome playing barbarian. You are unbelievably weak compared to others. It's also annoying that you can't drink pots while whirling around. PoE has thankfully changed a lot in comparison.
