On paper you can bring darn near anything and do well if all 4 players are competent, but the average pubbie group runs "anything" and they routinely let the squids snowball and then they fall into a death spiral. Here's my advice for herding pubbie cats vs the squids:1: watchers are priority target #1. Drop everything that you were doing to stop them from flaring.2: bring a primary that does explosive damage so that you can always keep fleshmobs locked down. Eruptor, xbow, and the plasma guns work great. 3: bring wide area of effect Strats to help mop up when somebody inevitably calls in a squid drop4: bring some AT to quickly kill harvesters. You shouldn't need to since harvesters are pretty soft and fold to concentrated machinegun fire, but for some gay ass reason harvesters break pubbie moral or some shit. Idk why. Things are just calmer if you delete them with proper AT. If you can't deliver a killing blow to a harvester, at least quickly shoot the horn to disable its shield generator. It takes like 3-4 hits from a talon to break the horn. Recommended build eruptor, talon, arc grenade, gun dog backpack, expendable napalm, commando, gatling barrage. Shoot the underside of UFOs with the NEATS . You'll get a 50+ kilkstreak basically every time. Usually either neat or commando is off cooldown, and you can make shortcuts through colony perimeter walls by calling down a drop pod immediately adjacent to the wall.

In fact the only thing that seems to effect difficulty in this game is map layout and the resulting patrol spawn points, on the same difficulty an objective will either be barren and easy to complete with no action or have constant patrols spawning right next to it with no break. Even testing on solo its the same, SEAF artillery will either be a walk in the park or nonstop fighting even if on the same difficulty, its the map thats the key.
