I am about to try Baldr Sky in a while and I was curious on what to expect from it in terms of overall tone compared to other mecha VN's such as Muv-Luv and Muramasa. Muv-Luv being a game that begins with a romcom setup and then shifts a life and death drama with a hard sci-fi angle, and Muramasa being well more or less the typical VN NitroPlus+ is known for.From what little I have gathered it's a more sci-fi thing, maybe more closer to a LN or shonen (non-derogatory) in terms of overall tone? I imagine you being able to actually control the protagonist in combat plays into that as well.
