I don't know maybe there really isn't a good way to prepare new players for monhun so that they git gud while having fun. Maybe you ultimately do just have to go through a long period of struggle until you realize there actually is something with depth under there and it's not just mashing. I occasionally see people complain online about pokemon that are too human-like or just resemble objects and it got me thinking about how any series with monsters will seemingly inevitably have this issue with new designs. I wonder if it's just a lack of new ideas or a specific desire to make monsters more marketable. For monhun examples, you have have stuff like kulu yaku riding the line with its human like mannerisms and tool use but for more egregious stuff you have monsters like goss which is literally just a guy with swords, tetranadon is just a sumo wrestler, malzeno is just a vampire, and hirabami is a fucking flag of all things lol. So far I'd say monhun has handled it much better than pokemon (a fucking pair of keys for a monster really?) but I wonder if we'll get some really truly on the nose designs in future monhun games. I'm not sure I want furry bait in monhun but I guess there's a not insignificant portion of the community that are furries and other kinds of degenerates

Lol rewatching some of the old wilds trailers really hammers in how shit the writing and voice acting is in wilds but I have to admit a good amount of the animations in wilds are very detailed and well done. For me, 90% of the longevity in MHS2 derived from the gene building and stockpiling rare eggs for potential monster teams. When you take away the depth and simplify it into a menu of pick-and-choose your bonuses, it's basically one step away from just opening a save editor to ignore the limitations, mechanics and scarcity the game imposes. I guess my point is, streamlining core mechanics in favor of accessibility is for mainstream appeal but it kills the fun I have in these games and limits replayability. If you don't like the grind in a MH-related IP and you're just buying the game to watch the cutscenes, what's the long-term goal in playing this aside from giving Capcom money?
