Yeah anon was right it was added by the dlcWinters grasp actually shows up as a level 2 spell in your spellbook even without the dlc, but only if you click "show all spells" and it is not availableI thought you had to dip or something to get it By the way, it's very lame that you dont get any level 2 spells since you dont hit level 3 after you are done with the grey garrison and the prologue. If they gave you level 3 before it you could have prepared your spells, but no I guess you had to do act 1 without them despite this part of the game being one of the hardest. In original fashion, I am playing human 2H meleeman because it's one of the stronger builds and I like wielding a big 2Her. There's a strong mage build so I will try that if I end up playing a second run. My party is all story companions and the only ones I've found so far but you are given the option to make custom party members around the beginning of the game.I'm at the second half of part 1 it seems and I am headed to my (now dead) family's estate to find proof of my legitimacy. However I am going to do every sidequest I can first.

There is a decent enough story in the game and a lot more reactivity and small details than you might realise, I almost always discover something new on a new run. It just has good combat encounter design with a combat system that I find fun and satisfying both in the early game and late-game. My only real complaints about it is act 2 being slightly too long, act 3 being a bit empty, and act 4 not having enough high level fights to test your builds against.

Deciding whether to use heavily outdated armor with good stats vs new armor with better values but worse attributes is actually interesting from a decison-making perspective. This gets even deeper when you consider the value of let's say a gear with 2 hydrosophist vs another piece with two aerotheurge when you are running a dual-specced build. The fact that the classless systems lets you e.g. get 1 pyrokinetic from a helmet or amulet to enable you to learn peace of mind and haste without having to invest an attribute point into pyrokinetic is great and makes this even deeper.The armor system isn't actually bad and I genuinely defend it. First of all, dual parties are fully viable. There are enemies with zero magic armor or armor even in act 4, even in the last fight of the game in fact. And most combats have enemies with 1 lower armor stat meaning that bringing mixed damage is viable. Not to mention that properly built characters can be so strong that you can even run 1/3 parties, especially if that 1 is a physical damage dealer. There are also "classes" like rogue, archers, and summoners that can deal both damage types, hydrosophists can too with some more set-up.The armor system makes cc tactical rather than rng. You always know when you get stunned and will stun the enemy. RNG is largely removed from the game which is a welcome change from Dos1. I dont see the issue with the armor system either in terms of armor or cc. Cc is too strong in the game but that is a different issue regardlessAnd hp does help the player, saying that the player gets cc'd the second their armor is broken, and that it's the only thing that matters, is factually untrue and I've played through the game multiple times so I would know.I'm not going to tell you what you can and cant enjoy but most of the criticisms toward the armor system are wrong

I've been desperately trying to stay as a slave for the past irl 2 hours or so. I need to actively try to not escape, down to being forced to savescum numerous times just to do so. And unfortunately one of my guys broke free anyway.AI logic completely broke down initially inside the city, with Slavers enslaving my imprisoned characters, but then United Cities Samurai sperging out seeing their bounties and attacking them as if they were free, imprisoning them again, just to be enslaved again and then attacked once they are out of the prison as slaves again, thus resulting in an endless loop. Had to reload like 10 times just to reset AI logic until Slavers finally managed to leave the city and be on it's way to a nearby Slave Camp.Unfortunately then Slavers proved to be too much of a jobbers to resist local fauna, Skimmers especially, which resulted in them dying while all slaves, including my characters, being considered escapees. I had to again reload many times just to reset traveling direction of animals so they don't end up fighting us.Then I had to help slavers fight off some bonedogs anyway and make sure to instantly execute them so they don't wake up.Slavers also don't care how slow you are, so eventually they moved so fast forward that some of slaves turned escapees by being left behind essentially, which is how "Log" escaped.They are almost at a safe slave camp now, but fucking Skimmer nest is in front of it, so I doubt my slaves will be delivered ultimately anyway.Best thing is, that my characters have their equipment hidden in their backpacks, so at any moment I could unleash full plate armor and top tier weapons and rape slavers anyway in an instant.Yes, Kenshi is this janky and barely functional, which isn't helped by the fact that I bloated the shit out of it with mods.

I like it a lot so far. Combat is great, combat log is just as good as bg3's, graphics are massively improved, they've already established a few cool systems like the party personalities and faction system, and the first plot cutscene was good and set up some mysteries.

If you want a smooth experience, try to build parties that are good at those things. Also in BG1 the game throws some companions at you on the road and as a goal early on. Just finished Outer worlds 2. Its ok, I liked the weapon diversity but from what i've seen melee fucking sucks, the story is meh, the companions are ok, though I'm disappointed that I didnt get the best ending for them and the same goes for the story, FUCK AUNTIE CLEO. I think a 6/10 is fair, hopefully the third game will be more interesting, given all the set up they did near the end, and PLEASE let me fuck the companions next game

I just finished Fallout 2.All I can really say is that I understand why they needed to sell off the IP to the Morrowind guys of all people after making it.I don't want to hear anyone claim that modern Fallout is unserious or "reddit" when Fallout 2 had cringeworthy attempts at humor and levity in all the wrong places. Humor in these games is important in doses of course, but it's everywhere, especially where it doesn't need to be. It sounds like a first draft video review of a cartoon episode I would have written when I was 14, and the only point of reference was just cartoon reviews written by 16 year olds.Quest design is really the biggest issue in my opinion. Objectives are unclear and amount to mostly "just wander around until you get a lead". Often enough, quest related dialogue is hidden behind a couple choices after initially speaking with someone, which means conversations take this weird robotic feel where you're only saying things out of desperation or to get to what you actually mean to say. It's hard to get good dialogue to sound natural in a computer game, but this takes it a step too far. Yeah, it was 1998 and all, but I don't think it would have taken that much playtesting and adjustment to fix.Similarly, the dialogue has this tendency that I've only ever seen in games like Skyrim or Fallout 4, where your only choices are needlessly cruel, or overly cheerful and enthusiastic. In the worst examples, there will be long chains of dialogue where you'll either be given only one option, or one option, and a "decline quest and leave" option with no in-between.It wouldn't even bother me if (like Skyrim) the game wasn't so dialogue heavy. There's barely any combat, and what there is, I felt woefully underpowered for until I got a combat shotgun and some combat armor, which I barely used before I got the gauss rifle and power armor.this is my go to gaming hot take, but 3>NV>1>4>2. The lore is interesting and changes things in the pillars universe going forward. I like the characters, especially Kai and it best of all it doesn’t overstay its welcome. It’s a good 50 hour game
