>>560479267At this point I think a 4th game is guaranteed but not necessarily because stories 3 did fairly well but because I'm almost certain Capcom is in too deep with how they've structured the monhun content development and release schedule. It used to be mainline and portable alternating but as dev times grew longer they needed something monhun related to slot in between big releases so bam stories. The only way stories doesn't continue is if they try a new spinoff and it somehow does better then stories but given wilds sales at the moment it's probably best to not be too experimental right now. I guess we'll know in the next report if they considered stories 3 a success.

Most likely you are being CPU bottle necked, which is a likely reason why changing the graphical settings gives minimal boost, other than the fact your gpu is weak as it is.

Most 10*s are so hard you need to understand the monsters inside out to be able to kill them in the 75 sec timer.Monster AI is different too. Now AI is designed more like an MMO where monsters follow a specific flowchart of attacks, that can be influenced by your positioning. If you understand a monster inside out, you can make it follow the exact same attack chain every time, which makes every monster “solveable”. I love that puzzle aspect. And it changes between weapons. A flowchart on gunlance that gives you identical monster behavior will not work on another monster.

I'm kind of confused about the GU food system because you unlock meals that are just objectively better than the meals you had before and while that's in line with older games, the new meals replaced the old meals entirely in those games so I'm just wondering why they kept them here. The price per meal doesn't even vary as far as I can tell either so there doesn't seem to be any benefit at all for using the shittier meals. The only thing I can think of is one of the shittier meals might have the "fired up" icon next to it so you might eat that meal if only to increase skill chance activation even if it means lower stat increases for health/stamina

You know honestly...I think I'm genuinely fine with them getting rid of tracking monsters with paintballs and all that after playing some more GU. Seriously between psychoserum and monsters just dying a lot faster now, tracking is genuinely irrelevant now so I totally get why they just did away with it. Even if they wanted to reinvent it, there's a solid chance people would dislike the reinvention. In fact we literally saw that with scoutflies and all the complaints those got. So yeah tracking is dead but it's honestly for good reason because it just became irrelevant starting in gen 4. If you think about it, it's really just another symptom of the neverending increase in speed for the games so it was basically inevitable

It makes sense too because farms themselves were a way to speed up the game in the first place so you wouldn't have to spend so much time gathering like the original mainline games so swapping farms for trader menus just made that process even faster to match the increase in speed for the combat. I guess my only issue with the farm thing in particular being lost is there's no option for people who want to chill while playing now. You used to go to the farm for that but now you have nothing. I guess this is their response to people complaining about old monhun "not respecting their time"

Lmao aerial is so busted. It basically has earplugs built in because the aerial dodge sends you into the air so if you do it before a roar, you'll just have your jump interrupted and do the quick trip animation before you're immediately back into the game. Still, as busted as styles are, I genuinely don't understand how shitters/new players could handle this game otherwise because monsters are not only faster, have more tracking, more moves, etc but you also have shit tier gear for a good while at the beginning of the game just like p3rd. You also don't have any of the crutches players got later on like wire/seikretfall, palicoes reviving you, free heals on the map, etc.

I think wyvern riding essentially grew out of aerial style because you spend so much time on top of the monster and they probably figured the mashing mini game was kind of boring so they fleshed it out with wyvern riding.

Huh, Wilds' high res texture pack is locked from working if ur on a 8gb card?I found a doc where people factually documented that Wilds' textures get better even on the "High" setting when you have the high resolution texture pack installed, even if your textures aren't on the "Highest" setting that actually use it.So I decided to do that, since I'm on a 8gb card and I can handle the game maxed out with "high" textures just fine. I download the pack, it shows up in the settings as selectable and I decide to see how the game looks with it, even if its gonna crash due to vram or something.But uh, they just don't work? No textures change when going between Highest and High. The game doesn't even quickly reload things like it does when changing between low-medium-high. Nothing is changed, the perf and vram remains the same. Went ahead and did this after a shader clear too and same result. This is the first time I'm seeing a game actively block you from using its high res texture pack instead of just letting you melt your vram for fun. I wonder if this also happens on 12gb cards since Capcom said the pack is intended for 16 and up.

B team ideas sold more copies than 3x the highest A-team game, and the series is unrecognizable by, and no longer reliant on, it's loyal original audience. In fact one of the biggest reasons there even was backlash for rise was because newfags were so shocked at how different it was (they never played GU). Secondly, I wouldn't say it's widespread knowledge at all that portable and mainline are separate series. Before recently the vast majority of people spoke of the series as one unified entity. Even GU was considered a special case and a one off. It wasn't until rise really that a separate and distinct portable identity really took place in the wider consciousness and even now most players will simply see monhun in the title and assume it's all the same.

So fishing in fourth gen is largely the same fishing system as third gen but they removed bountiful bait and replaced it with sushifish bait. I still genuinely have no idea what the point of worm bait is in this system. Mega fishing flies at least make the fish bite on the first try. Worms seem entirely useless since they added lures which mean you can fish even without a worm unlike in gen 1/2 that required you to at least have worms.
