It blocks everything out of the gate, assuming you're in singleplayer. Multiplayer will depend on server settings. As for what versions it supports, just try it. You'll get an error if it doesn't work

So I haven't played this game since Beta 1.7 or 1.8 or something (the one that added hunger and sprinting), but lately YouTube started recommending me a lot of Minecraft videos and watching some of them for old times sake made me curious: A lot of those big YouTube guys have their 30 Million hour Hardcore worlds (which from what I understand means permadeath) and they build tension by saying how close they got to losing their worlds during the videos etc.
Now I'm assuming they're faking it and they have their worlds backed up just in case. But with how much bullshit the game has these days, is it realistically possible to play in a permadeath world for that long, once you go past a certain threshold and can coat yourself in a few layers of failsaves? I've seen some guy had an item that let him fly and I heard they added an enchantment system that apparently lets you make super broken gear that makes you borderline invincible.
>>
>>560567736
yes, once you get past the early game it's very easy to never die again, especially if you are using totems
>>
>>560569157
What the fuck is a totem?
>>
>>560569341
Totem of Undying. If you are holding it in your main or off-hand when you die, it cancels your death and eats the item. So when you get a bunch of them, you are functionally invincible
https://minecraft.wiki/w/Totem_of_Undying
All those slop-tubers are always holding one in their off-hand
>>
>>560567736
>>560569341
>is it realistically possible to play in a permadeath world for that long, once you go past a certain threshold and can coat yourself in a few layers of failsaves?
I assume a lot of them are bullshitting, too, but yes, it is possible. The big one to get is the Totem of Undying. If you die while holding one in your off hand, you are instantly revived with a couple of seconds of invincibility and rapid health regeneration. You get these by killing Evokers during raids. A professional player can pretty easily build a farm to get unlimited of these in a single day of playing.
>I've seen some guy had an item that let him fly
That's an Elytra + firework rockets. When you combine these with a Totem, you can survive nearly anything.
>and I heard they added an enchantment system that apparently lets you make super broken gear that makes you borderline invincible.
You are borderline invincible against all non-boss enemies with a fully max enchanted set of Netherite armor. The catch is that you can't wear a chestplate and an Elytra at the same time, so you have to choose between defense and flight.

Nope, not unless they hid it deep in some unknown setting panel. Just dug through every option menu in the game looking for it and the wiki page about the thing to see if I missed something somewhere. The only way to disable it is through gamerules, useless for anyone who just doesn't want to see it. I don't think any pvp-enabled server run by anyone sane would leave it on, and on a friendly server it doesn't really serve much purpose at all. I have genuinely no idea why they added this, and even less idea why the only way to disable it is by being a server op and disabling it for everyone on the server.

They added it for people playing with friends, which is probably the large majority of multiplayer servers. I honestly thought you could turn it off on the client to stop it from showing, it's a bit weird that you can't, but naturally the actual functionality would be a server-side setting. I guess you could look for a client-side mod that disables it, they must exist

It’s been a long time since I last played, and I’ve never had a world with more than three ugly, uninteresting buildings, so I decided to try to change that. I play on a friend's private server which he originally started with some friends in an amplified world back on 1.14 or so, I think. They quickly realized how stupid and inconvenient it is but didn't want to lose the progress they had made, so they created a new normal terrain world with the same seed and copy-pasted the amplified world's chunks containing their bases into the new world and continued from there. So now there is an area of amplified cliffs in the middle of an otherwise normal world. In my opinion it looks stupid and personally I think they should have simply started a brand new world, but that was before my time and now it's just a part of the server's history.

People complained before that they stuck a full adult sized zombie head on a tiny body and rightfully so because it looked awful, the “fixed” design isn’t perfect but it’s still an improvement. Jappa or whoever’s design philosophy for the baby humanoids was fucked from the start, they couldn’t fix everything within the deadline so they tackled the zombie because that gained the most traction
>>
>>560696393
I don't understand why didn't they keep all their heads 8px but make their bodies 6px.
>>
>>560696741
They really should have used the same body proportions as the baby piglin, it’s not like adult piglins and zombies have different proportions anyway aside from the head. Again, they made a lot of weird design choices with some of the remodels, it feels they had at most two artists churning them out by the week with no feedback
>>
>>560696393
I don't get why only the zombie was changed while the rest are still bobbleheads.
>>
>>560701294
>baby piglin
the model isn’t THAT bad, its proportions are better since it has a thicker body to go with it’s large head, people were more vocal over the baby zombie
>baby villager
They would have to change all the biome variants, a lot of extra work when they only had so many snapshots left to actually do things

I do. I still don't like going into caves, 15 years later. It's scary when mobs can jump you, or when you are not sure if you've sufficiently lit up a cave, especially a giant one where they can unexpectedly come at you from any direction. Especially creepers that have a particularly cunning method of attack where they can jump onto you from a higher position and explode immediately when you are within reach without even giving you the usual warning hiss. Nearly had a heart attack from one.
>>
>>560721131
No, we are getting an End to Updates.

Big meaningful updates like the Nether Update or the Wild Update proved to be too much for the poor indie studio that is Mojang, so now they are instead focusing on small "game drops" that primarily contain useless gimmicks and cutesey mobs that they can easily market to 8 year old on TikTok.

>>
>>560757435
it happens once in a blue moon. you are a child
>>
>>560759510
It only ever happens in certain areas, where creepers can spawn high up and still spot the player. So basically only in ravines. If you know that, you can easily avoid being blown up just by paying attention. You can also light up the area, use night-vision potions, or equip blast-resistance armor. The game actually gives you a lot of options
>>
>>560753357
Caves are a bitch, and I realized quickly that Minecraft is a horror game with a cutesy appearance. Before I figured out what I was doing, I was randomly looking through caves for precious iron to make better gear, and my tactic involved having a bed in a well lit cubby, stripping off all armor and items except torches, and making a Leroy Jenkins run into the abyss putting down as much light as I could before something killed me, then repeating until the area was explorable.

A few things make it better. Having good armor so things can't kill you quickly, plus at least two cats and 5 wolves with armor makes it way more comfortable. You can get all that with barely any cave exploration at all once you find a village, wolves, and armadillos. I also tend to light big caves in a back and forth arc fashion, while running, so it's hard for mobs to get behind me. You do have to pay attention to dark ledges and stuff and climb up there to light them.
>>
>>560764837
I have fully enchanted Netherite gear, so it's not like I'm being easily killed. I just don't care for being startled by mobs, or worrying about pest control and lighting up every ledge and corner of giant caverns that stretch to infinity. I get all my ores from strip-mining and at this point I have more than I'll probably use in a lifetime anyway, except maybe copper because I use it in construction a lot.

Does anyone here actually use Happy Ghasts?

I built a Happy Ghast terminal, but mostly just for the sake of it, as I see no practical use for them whatsoever.
