This new Dissidia game is weird. You pull for characters, but then you also have to pull for moves. So you can get a character but they won't have any of their moves unless you pull for them. Fabula Nove Crystallis was a death sentence and it gave them the gall to split VII into 3 separate full length (bloated) games spanning 7 years and 2 console generations, all while not actually changing anything. Trilogies are veritable black holes for the traditionally one-off Final Fantasy series.

Granted, there are exceptional circumstances with the death of Tori and Sugiyama, but DQXI was released 9 years ago and we still have absolutely no idea what is going with XII's dev. Square's production pipeline seems completely broken, with only Amano Team managing a constant stream of smaller scale releases. BG3's marketer described the logic of the game's financial success precisely this way: they have had a very niche core of D&D and Divinity fans, and they built the game based on their support. Asano's team has a well-established and cohesive audience of this kind, not so big maybe, but the point still holds. This can and should be leveraged to grow, perhaps to a AA project, perhaps to a AAA one.

E33 is the single most artificially shilled and propped up game of all time and its sales are only 5 mil I think. And personally, I believe that turn-based games lend themselves more to what is, in modern times, a low budget title.
