The death race even feels like the way Air Ride mode was originaly meant to be played. There's so much variety and flare between picks now and all the original tryhard picks for the mode like Rick in a Wheelie Scooter are useless. Also I saw a Starman on a Paper Star in the first race...he didn't last 10 seconds.

SATAM adds a little more drama and a little more Ferngully to it, has more of an ensemble cast. I think it will depend heavily on whether you like Robotnik as a comical bumbler, or you like the moodier, more oppressive atmosphere lent by SATAM's megacities and legions of swatbots (who have a sick ass design). Personally I love them both and think they reflect the peak of Sonic both as a comedy and taking itself more seriously, respectively, and Jaleel White nails the role in both cases.
