My Marathon hot take is that I was wrong about Duos and should've never asked for it.Played around 10 rounds and its just people hiding in corners, buildings or skulking around the edge of the map. That hits different in solos because in solos it feels inherent to that experience and plays out like a stealth game. But in duos that doesn't feel right and its not very engaging at least to me anyway, to be honest its mostly boring. Its easy loot though because most of the people in the mode are clearly scared to properly push engagements and would rather hide behind walls and rocks, so play a destroyer and go for maximum aggression to guarantee kills.But yeah, I don't think Duos is it. The pacing of PvP feels really off as a duo and overall I don't think it will benefit the game in general. Solos and Trios feels like a good set. Happy to be proven wrong in the long term though.I'm fully ready to be crucified int he comments though by people who don't like the idea of making friends in the game.

I started playing Marathon a few days ago and while I am enjoying myself, I keep playing it like Apex. I move around from point to point looking for other players while being a loot goblin, and just waiting to third party a team. At that point, I scoop up the loot and exfil.

Marathon has already done a great job of easing gear fear, but the choice to make Cryo and Ranked weekend only modes subdues the fear even more. Gear up during the week so you can bring your best into Cryo and ranked for the chance at the best gear. If it’s a rough week you have all week to build back up. I keep thinking if Cryo keeps building on the increasingly more complicated map design, as each prior map has done, then Cryo could possibly be filled with destiny raid puzzles that may take weeks to solve. And with the $5K ante to enter, this could make each weekend an event to further discover Cryo’s secrets - involve the whole community to solve the in game mysteries. Cool possibilities. We will see how this design choice will land!

It unironically seems like Bungie was not expecting people to play Marathon in the way they do. Trios have completely devolved into a battle royale, the sound change being rolled back was too late.
