I went back to see how people rated the Heralds to compare to how they panned out, here's the data.The herald colossals were rated in this order, from best rated to lowest rated and the score out of 4:Azshara: 3.66Ragnaros: 3.62Al'Akir: 3.45Onyxia: 3.25Sinestra: 2.3Cho'gall: 1.98Both Sinestra and Cho were rated significantly lower than the rest. As to how it turned out, I don't have scores, but going by viability I think it is rather clear that the order is something like:Al'akir: Undisputed best. Arguably only non Druid T1 deck.Sinestra: Difficult to call, but she is a piece of Sinestra Rogue, which has an awkward performance. It's interesting to mention that Sinestra Rogue is one of 4 decks with >50% wr in top 100 ranks (Imbue Druid, No Minion DH, Sinestra Rogue and No Hand Hunter). But that might be skewed by Rogue autists since Valeera tends to attract people who main her no matter what.Ragnaros: Closes out the viable heralds, but he's such a small part of Dragon Warrior honestly you can cut him entirely. But he's cool.Azshara: Simply not good enough to create a deck. People underestimated how much taunts would cuck DH.Cho'gall: Cho'gall is trash but his herald is at least playable.Onyxia: Shit herald and shit effect. People just put her so high I think because everybody just assumed DK would continue to be THE control class but the impact of losing Corpse Explosion and a few other tools really kneecapped DK.

I think she just doesn't ever make the cut, because even in a control DK she is a 7/9 card package and all just for gaining some health.I also don't think Rag is that bad. Herald Dragon Warrior performs very similar to heraldless, which means at the absolute bare minimum Ragnaros isn't actively hurting the deck. I don't think he is worth building around though, just an alternative finisher. Most people are playing it because his flavour is cool and makes Dragon Warrior feel a bit fresher.

I really REALLY enjoy playing Herald shaman, we really have not had a deck like this in a long time. It's like pure board centric deck that has some lethal finisher with some expensive late game cards. And both Deathwing and Al'Akir feel strong and nice to play.

Dragon warrior (herald version) is so fun despite being so simple. Put some minions on the board, summon some soldiers, hit people with your axe, every once in a while drop Rag for a cool finisher. Balanced winrate into just about everything. Predictable so reasonably easy to counter and feels fair most of the time. Very enjoyable deck.

They probably thought it was an elegant uniform thing. 2/1 becomes 4/2 and then 8/4 etc. So if you buff it to become useful in the early stage (2/3 for example), they're stuck with the idea that the next one becomes 4/6 and then 8/12 which are too strong for them.But stats matter differently per class and depending on the stage of the game. For a class depending on tempo, a 2/3 or 3/2 for the first stage matters for example. The next stage doesn't have to be 4/6 or 6/4. They can just make it a Yeti 4/5. The last stage can be whatever if the class is already looking to close the game. Make it 6/7 ogre for laughs or 7/7 flamewreath. It doesn't need to be 4 times the stats of the first stage. They can just tune the stats depending on each class' turn by turn progression. But that needs competent designers.

The worst case scenario is that they go overboard and nerf other things besides Hamuul and kill the class off completely, I personally don't mind token Druid being good once Imbue is gone.
