I don't think squids need a swarming chaffe type in their roster they could have been the faction that has fewer but stronger enemies but they just had to replace zombie hoards with drone hoards that are functionally the same, and instead of bolstering their roster with new enemies they split them into two subfactions so theres still just a lack of variety either way.

Squids have potential to be the best faction in the game now that they have a decent heavy unitOutcasts and controllers would make them very fun to fight against if they got rid of the drone swarms, I also think crescent overseers are good and don't know why they were removed from this faction. They create ranged pressure while being something you don't have to physically shoot at in order to avoid damage from them, you can just keep moving or use shields. For the same reason, bile spewers are a good enemy, a type of enemy that doesn't just walk forward towards you while attacking. Every faction needs a handful of these to stay interesting, and currently the squids in the appropriator subfaction all just walk at you while attacking which is why it feels like the only way to fight them is with pure volume of fire rather than tactics or movement

Fire dog can confuse too, but it doesn't really spread the confuse effect around and just focuses on one target at a time. So gas dog is better if you want to prevent a bunch of bugs from hitting you while hot dog will just outright try to kill them all, but you'll probably also get hit in the process.

Just tried the blitzer and I don’t get why I don’t see more people using it against the bugs, it plus flame dog can handle bug breaches easily. Throw a gas nade if it’s getting a bit spicy and it’s over for the bugs. Didn’t realise that guard dogs can freely murder shit without giving away your position is you’re sneaking too, that came in very handy for the objectives.
