Do you play videogames? Most of these decisions are trivialized by consuming videogames, it's literally like in art. Why do people develop an artstyle? It's because they try to mix or emulate all the different art they consumed and like. It's so fucking easy like "I want my menus to look like Persona menus, "I want my player to feel like in a Bioshock-like world", "I want my combat to be quick and snappy like X game or slow and reward my players like in Y game".

i have talked to depressed people and they literally act like they'd just watch a child drown, because they really really don't care.

so if you are frustrated, my advice would be:
a) lower expectations, accept reality that you aren't able to achieve what you want
b) try to find help/advice/new knowledge (which isn't easily available though, so it can also cause frustration)

but lowering expectations is the first thing that might help. just accept that you don't have the ability to change anything right now. accept that this is your life.

and ofc try to figure out what you can do inside those imposed limitations. so you find realistic goals/activities again.

none of those questions can be answered without making completely arbitrary choices. ofc you can have a logical reason based on prior events. but those prior events are chosen arbitrarily too.
e.g. if there's a zombie apocalypse, then why? and why would that be a logical reason why the protagonists hair color is brown?

you better be good at making arbitrary choices (thousands of them) or you'll go insane while designing your game.

I can't tell you exactly what I'm looking at without being able to rotate the stage and maybe look around a bit, it's been a long time, but you can see some bigger phenocrysts that have what appears to be plagioclase (simple twinning) forming within them ... The flow of it really makes it seem lava-like. Surprisingly high feldspar content compared to quartz, assuming that isn't a mica group mineral, I barely see quartz at all. It's all so broken up it's hard to identify if I'm looking at amphiboles or pyroxenes or what, but I wonder if some of those dark spots are garnets and not just holes in the slide. Usually garnets are the biggest parts, so probably not.

Momentum now carries over when landing on the marbles, also added a stomp/dive to quickly lower self.

I just realize I can use a system similar like mugen where I store each animation inside something like anims/idle where each folder is a substate animation.

Then on the JSON of the player I just need a seq[string] to store the animations, while are just filepaths to the subfolders inside player.

Then I just on my player just hold a 2D array of textures.

And then I just loop then as an animated sprite in naylib.

And then add some basic reserved keywords like IDLE, WALK, WALK_F, WALK_FD, WALK_B.

Or maybe store all the directions of WALK inside a folder called WALK and then each direction is just WALK/F, WALK/B

That way adding newer states only requires to add newer folders and inside the .webp and a basic edit to the JSON.

It would be much much easier and simpler than all the autismo of godot and unity.

I've been doing dev for the past month on a 3D Space Sim (think freespace 2 mixed with Ace Combat) with Godot.
I think I've finally ironed out a lot of stuff with the camera and the movement.

Still my issue is with the engine choice. Youtube keeps suggesting me Ace Combat clones or other games that all use Unity. The last time I touched Unity was something like 4 years ago for some cheap web games that I did for work.
Game dev is generally new for me so, I have no idea if I chose the right engine for the job for the long run (I expect to develop this for a long time).
