>FAQ:
>Q: How often should I long rest?
>A: Many companion and romance interactions occur when long resting. Some early lower priority camp scenes can also be missed if higher priority ones are queued. To advance companion quests or romances, make sure to long rest often.
>Q: Underdark or Mountain Pass?
>A: Either, or both. It's recommended to clear both on higher difficulties for the experience and loot. Both connect to the same Act 2 map.
>Q: Is The Dark Urge essentially "Tav+"?
>A: Yes. You get additional content, BUT there are points where, if you've chosen to resist the Urge and/or don't complete quests the "right" way, you'll have to pass additional checks to avoid losing companions.
>Q: Are there any consequences to consuming tadpoles?
>A: No, for the most part. However if you've consumed any tadpoles, there will later be a DC 21 Wisdom check to reject the Astral-Touched Tadpole, which affects your appearance if consumed.
>Q: Should I enable Karmic Dice?
>A: Karmic Dice will avoid streaks of low rolls, both for you and the enemy. It is recommended to disable it if you're specializing.

The Writers didn't exactly think this plot twist through.
The colony was also supposed to be dormant ever since it the squid empire was overthrown a long time ago, but somehow it managed to capture Balduran, turn him into a mind flayer and enslave him to the will to the Elder Brain that was sleeping.
Hence why presumably no one noticed it when Moonrise was built, as the thing seems to be built literally on top going considering you can get a glimpse if you climb down at the prison.

My pet theory is that rather than having Balduran get turned into a squid by random colony #345, he chose the one that was featured in the game, despite not making a lick of sense in terms of the timeline.

>Larian's next game trailer
This is off-topic advertising and should be reported. It was surely worth wasting 150 posts to rush to this thread.

>>562093923
If the namefag were indeed a janitor in this little delusion of yours, would they not delete all the falseflagging, shitposting, and slander that targets them? And if such worthless shitposts are allowed to remain to maintain plausible deniability, then on what grounds could you possibly accuse them of being a secret janitor? Mintharafag ignores the shitposting and personal attacks, which requires grace, I might add. Something your kind - self-important, arrogant, deceitful - is utterly lacking.

>>562096527
>wouldn't that make ketheric older than baldur's gate?
...No. Baldur's Gate was founded a long time ago. Moonrise was built a little more than a century prior to the events of BG3. There are no continuity issues if you assume Balduran was still alive at the time. The squid's lifespan does raise some questions, but it wouldn't be the first time it breaks established lore, namely because it is a mind flayer that somehow retains most of its host's personality. More importantly, the squid's former identity is not particularly relevant to the player character or the player, and exists solely to loosely connect it to Baldur's Gate. Don't think too hard about it - not because that would expose a timeline inconsistency, but because it doesn't matter.

>If the namefag were indeed a janitor
You confuse jannies with mods, and attribute the powers of one to the other. Namejanny largely ignores attacks NOW, having been beaten into submission, but he was a hurricane of autism and obnoxiousness for a long time before that. Because he has severe autism and zero real life experience with adult relationships he projected a tradfag porno attitude onto the game's characters and it poisoned the thread terminally. And while his mistaken ranting on Shadowheart is what he's best known for, he's had tons of other stupid takes as well that he couldn't let go of, from Paladin oaths to the different cultures of Faerun, how to roleplay, and a million other things. He's on another planet from grace, in another galaxy.

That was my first thought as well but then I talked to her after the deed was done. Then with everybody as usual! I'm not saying this is a definite proof of anything as you can interpret it as "revenge doesn't heal wounds and bring peace" or "chasing what was taken from you will only leads to losing more" but knowing that she loses the passive in a mechanical sense it's an interesting angle either way. Here. I'm pretty sure I posted this once but it was easier to put it together again than to dig up the archives.

>Why would she lose the passive in lore?
I missed this one above. The Chosen are basically hand-picked to be the embodiment of their God's virtues and values and Aylin is treated as one even if she lacks the official title. They suppose to represent in the Material Plane whatever their deity stands for and further their interests. Don't forget that one of Selune's domains is Life, so after executing Lorroakan (a wizard whose ambitions might've matched Ketheric's but he himself barely inflicted any direct suffering on her) by shattering his spine on her knee her mother might've felt she went overboard and needs a wake-up call to sort herself out.

>wakeup call

idk how anyone could possibly be so blind. Gaylin is a paladin and it is heavily implied she broke her oath by killing Lorroaken after he was already defeated. She mentions an odd feeling of loss which mirrors the language from a book written by an oathbreaker from act 1. no idea why you would post Karlach dialogue but it does hint at it

>>
ah nvm gaylin is an oath of vengeance. mb
>>
>>562107435
Aylin is a Vengeance Paladin who has a very personal reason to take revenge on Lorro. One of the main tenets of the sublcass is "No Mercy for the Wicked." On top of that she retains her "Sword of the Moonmaiden" title afterwards and the only loss seem to be her immortal passive. This is why it feels more personal to me than a "simple" oathbreaking even if it appears similar on the surface. That's not saying your theory is wrong or out of question but we're talking about a literal children of a Goddess who was granted quasi-immortality for a reason.

To add to >>562116051, if you want to experience as much of the content as possible then there is an elevator in the Underdark that displays a warning if you try to use it: DO NOT TAKE IT, or if you want to take it don't use it until you've done everything you want to. It's an alternate method to get to Act 2 and you can lose out on Mountain Pass stuff if you take it to go to Act 2 too soon.

>make the required sacrifices so you can summon Mizora in the final fight
>every time she gets attacked she suffers 0 damage and disappears for a round because of ZP
>tfw she gets the bragging rights with zero contribution

They had to do something with that. Surprisingly it's a Condition instead of a Feature, which tells me the intention behind it was to protect her from any harm as that could've potentially broken Wyll's questline. Then they had to take it away to not destroy the final fight's flow.

As it has been said you can complete both "Act 1.5" areas (Underdark then the Grymforge / Mountain Pass then the Monastery) for XP and loot before picking one to head to the Act2 from. I can only recommend it. If you're on a good playthrough the Forge Elevator is more advantageous.

So wrap everything up in the Wilderness before first entering to the Mountain Pass (it advances the game world and time-sensitive things might fail). After you finished one such region don't advance to Act2 but instead visit the another place. Once Act 1 is fully done pick one and proceed.
>>
>>562117543
>Underdark then the Grymforge / Mountain Pass then the Monastery
I do it like this!
>>
Hot take: if you're sure you like the game, then play only one of the "Act 1.5" paths so that 1) you can play the other on the next playthrough, and 2) you don't hit level 12 at the beginning of Act3
>>

The issue is that the game largely feeds you bogus information
>Halsin tells you that the Underdark is faster in reaching the Shadow cursed lands (it's not)
>Halsin tells you that the Underdark is safer because you bypass most of the curse (a lie)
>game sets it up as if you have to choose between the two (you don't)
>levelwise largely encouraged to do both due to the difficulty spike in the creche
especially the last part is pretty cruel as the Gith are arguably the most consistent pain in the ass enemies in the entire game

Isn't visiting the Monastery a pre-requirement to be able to keep Lae'zel in the party?

>>562118328
The Zaith'isk was a big motivator for me to go that route during my first run and not just because Lae'zel's adamant pestering. If I had to pick between the two I'd have gone to through the Mountain Pass without a doubt.

>as the Gith are arguably the most consistent pain in the ass enemies
Right but if you don't plan to cause ruckus in the Creche any level is fine. As for the very end you can either fast-travel outside the place or if you have the tools (like Invisibility potions) I believe the hidden entrance can also get you outside with minimal trouble.

Not sure but you can at least keep around during most of Act 2, no clue whether she ditches you at some point after that.
>Right but if you don't plan to cause ruckus in the Creche any level is fine.
You are hardcoded into fighting them.
Saying that you can just skip them via fast travelling or invis potion hardly feels right on a first playthrough.
Like please, if you have to skip past an enemy on a 1st playthrough that you are designed to fight, my first instinct is that something is off, either i'm doing something wrong or i am somehow underleveled.

>>562127335
All I'm saying is that there's a way. If we're talking about the first playthrough my instinct upon seeing that the Creche went hostile was to get out through the shortest way. That's the hidden entrance near the Trader Githyanki and the Invisibility potions were just the next logical step. Either way slaughtering the entire Creche is not a requirement. I'm not sure if you can avoid combat altogether there but I plan to test it during a future playthrough.

Fwiw talking to the Inquisitor is part of Lae'zel's quest the same way as the Zaith'isk. Now I've seen jumps in quests where triggering a later section allows you to continue then finish it but I doubt that's the situation here. The point of the Inquisitor here is to railroad you into the Vlakith encounter then let the Dream Visitor explain the Prisms' origin and how the foundation of her reign is forged.

One time I read that we see cat faces' so expressive because they have similar proportions as human babies. Lae'zel might have something like that going on. Solo Honour or any other type of challenge is autistic planning. An Honour run by itself is just a regular run but bosses are slightly more difficult and you can't save scum. That's it.
It's the only difficulty type which lets you experience the actual DnD mechanic of Legendary Actions and Legendary Resistances, which is to me the only real reason to try clearing Honour mode at least once. That and the shiny dice (but you can just mod shinier dice into the game anyway, but these shiny dice come with a cheevo which you can't mod in).
>>
>>562155967
Reset the entire run I mean
>>
Speaking of Honour mode, I just remembered Ansur is immune to the wet condition for some insane reason, and I'm pretty sure he's immune to lightning because he was a bronze dragon. AND he has the same magical plate type BS which makes Magic Missile useless. I think I will save that fight for last.

If you don't care about the golden dice and the achievement you can replicate Honor mode without the "reset". Just a heads-up. All you have to do is pick Custom Mode at the Difficulty selection screen and replicate Honor's then turn the Single Save setting off.

Yeah I figured it was that, I was just hoping it would have an in-universe reason because "it's too OP" is a weak justification when they were the ones who put the interaction in. It's the same kind of complaint I have with bosses that are immune to status conditions in games where bosses are the only monsters worth using status conditions on.

Any recommendations for a fun character build to try? Gonna be playing a fresh co-op game and I’m trying to figure out what I’ll play. I’ve played Warlock and Sorcerer to death at this point, and I don’t need to be the party face for this group either. Any suggestions based on subclasses or builds you’ve all played and found fun?
>>
>>562162436
Throwing Barbarian. Berserker gets Enraged Throw (free Throw Action for the cost of a Bonus Action) while Raging. A 4 level Thief dip grants you a 2nd Bonus Action and various extra goodies. Tavern Brawler ties everything together wonderfully and you don't need Strength potions to be mighty. Hell, even Rage is more of an extra here than a requirement! Schedule the dip after your Barb gets an Extra Attack at level 5. It's an effective build that plays like few others while remaining pretty simple.

The game also supports it with a few unique items nobody else in the party will compete for. The only downside is the occasional "Path Interrupted" situations (the throws have a fixed arch and sometimes maneuvering is needed) and maybe that you'll be using Returning Pike (the only automatically returning weapon for an Act and half - available at the Goblin Camp trader) for quite a while. Before that Javelins you collect and re-use after each fight, after that Nyrulna or Dwarven Thrower.
>>
>>562162353
did any antagonist in bg3 have a character arc/path? maybe emperor if you count his romance I guess?

The only thing I hate about the difficulty selection is as far as I can tell it just adds + modifiers to every enemy? Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like a retarded way to make it more difficult, then again I can't think of anything better so I'm retarded too.

It's tabletop, this is unironically how they add difficulty to combat. Turn based combat games were the OG "tweak the numbers" games.
>>
>>562163964
>free Throw Action for the cost of a Bonus Action
I mean extra Throw Action. Another Attack Roll if you will. In case it wasn't evident the point of the build is to throw a weapon with returning property on an enemy, which then automatically comes back to you and gets re-equipped. Needless to say you can also throw foes into chasms and whatnot as well, that's one of the reasons why high STR is so crucial for this build.
>>
>>562163964
It's just a 3 dip if you don't mind missing the feat.
>>
>>562164367
Yeah I get it, it makes sense overall I just wish it was more like ... idk tailored to each enemy type or something. Hmm
>>
>>562164967
That'd take a lot more dev time. If they had sacrificed visual fidelity maybe we could have gotten that but they had to make a 3d game.
>>
>>562164780
That Feat gives us much more than level 9 Barb's Brutal Critical. TB is a jackpot for this build so that is a must at level 4. Interestingly Alert can be skipped here as Barbs get it's mini version called Feral Instinct (+3 Iniative and can't be Suprised) at level 7, so the other two Feats can be spent on well-needed AS (STR) improvements.

>>562164220
The alternative method is better enemy AI. In other words enemies act smarter on higher difficulties, and not just in terms of efficiency but they might also have a bigger bag of tricks. The problem is that AI is pretty hard to program to begin with and it makes balancing even more tricky. That's why the primitive multiplier method is still the standard.
>>
this is why dnd has legendary actions
>>
>>562164967
That's kind of what the legendary actions are. They're usually thematic to the enemy, such as the bulete having hardened scales or Bernard doing robot things, or the spider shooting web. Honor mode really is the most fun way to play the game in my opinion. bg3 does difficulty correctly, by giving bosses an actually unique mechanic that is meaningfully different from medium difficulty. wotr is the game where the difficulty levels are just numbers inflation and blanket immunities, which is so boring after coming from bg3.

It's why there's no upper city, it's why the game shipped without a real ending, it's why there's ten million plot holes, it's why Wyll is Wyll, it's why you have Halsin cucking but they couldn't write an ending for Karlach, and you could go on forever. It was a game with absolutely zero planning or central control and it's a tenth of what it could have been because of that.

it's already the biggest crpg ever and arguably the biggest wrpg ever I also think that the game would be better with a definitive edition but it's still an enjoyable experience for every unfinished quest/character you got 20 or 30 high quality one

It's not the worst ending for Gale certainly, but other gods hate him and that'll get you into trouble especially if you are newly ascended. Just ask Velsharoon. It's definitely better than getting raped by Mystra and then Raphael forever which is his real worst ending.

The swine's logic is flawless, as always. Why not tweet what Swen had for breakfast or what his thought of the day is? It's all "tangentially related." Oh wait, that part is already covered by its parasitic friend (>>562162353). The nice part about this general is that you don't even need to follow Larian's socials. The tweets and low-effort "content" are brought to you by these quality "contributors" unprompted. Talking about the actual game is optional, even reprehensible for these creatures.

Sure. A good-aligned player character may take pity on Astarion - after all, vampirism is a curse he didn't choose. A good-aligned player character may recognize or even relate to his struggle. They may see it as their responsibility to keep an eye on him and rein in his selfish or evil tendencies. Sympathizing doesn't mean liking or condoning. The same logic applies to Minthara, to a lesser degree.

Like clockwork. When Mintharafag points out BG3's player retention numbers (>>562059451) as an indicator that players still care nearly three years later, it's very logical. When the swine tries to correlate Larian's random stream with players still caring, that's pig logic at play. The hundreds of thousands of players that still play the game might be surprised to learn that they still care and (unknowingly) have cared this entire time. When the swine sees a Larian employee using mods and squeals in recognition, that's the pig reacting on instinct. "She uses modslop, just like me!" It's difficult to fathom something this genuinely stupid. Maybe the parasite can give it a run for its money. It likes Swen because "Swen is liked by everyone."

with a guy like him as bg3's director it's no wonder the game became game of the year 2023

Wait a sec. If the Fist at Wyrm's Rock gets aggro'd after the Iron Throne does that mean I won't able to visit Rivington unless I deal with the ones at the gate (back from the Lower City) or skip the whole area with Fast Travel?

Rivington has its own way point. Same with the checkpoint. You just aren't allowed into Wyrm's Rock specifically without a fight.

Right, that's why I brought up Fast Travel. I'm more interested in what constitutes as "the First at Wyrm's Rock". Blaze Elin and her entourage? Very unlikely. The other Blaze (curly redhead Wizard) at the other gate? Probably not but there's two other guards inside who should really qualify and will be triggered by a fight. Not to mention all those Steel Watchers! I prefer to travel back to Rivington on foot and would like to continue to do so, especially that Sharess' Caress has a few merchants I tend to visit as well. That's why I'm asking.

Your pic was precisely what I was afraid of. Unless you did it yourself after recruiting her full-time, in which case Withers can help you out. If not then getting her back through the traditional methods might be tricky as the odds is that she's still technically considered as an ally instead of a companion. That's why Aid didn't work on her. This was the only bug with Jaheira though and it's easy to fix it if you have a hard save before speaking with her post-Ketheric. Just dismissing somebody from your active party THEN talking to Jaheira and recruiting her to the empty party slot alone meant no issues.

>>
>>562233536
I can always do that, I'm not that far away from it. The thing is though that's exactly what I did. I left someone (karlach) at camp and then went to her and recruited her to come with. I'll try it again though just to be sure but im 100% sure thats exactly how i did it, it was directly after the ketheric fight though, do I need to do it BEFORE the tunnel jump or are you saying after that part on the top of the tower? I did it after the tunnel part to be clear.

Side note A thing that made me a little disappointed

>>562259751
I'd say so. Late-development BG3 is a technically stable game with functional content and rather polished gameplay. A far cry from perfect and the longer you play and the more experienced you're with the genre the more apparent the cracks are but considering what it has to offer (I'm mostly talking about the production value and the the sheer amount of content here) it's an excellent deal even at full price. EA is free beta (or in worse cases alpha) testing where everything is subject to change and you're plagued with technical issues. It has it's charm but most people who participate is only impatient an maybe prisoner of the moment.

I can only imagine it will be shitty but I'll wait and find out. I think its foolish to get excited for games because you can only be disappointed by that in this day and age. If you just commit to waiting until its out to find out if it sucks or not then you can't be disappointed or have your money taken by garbage.
I think people paying money to find out if they like a game or not is completely retarded with how many absolute disasters there are these days
>>
>>562256647
Normally I'd say no I'm not, because I won't be playing Early Access.
In almost every game that runs EA it's a scam of some kind and the game isn't worth the free QC you'll be helping them with. But after BG3 I think Larian might actually be one of the few devs that actually use EA for its intended purpose. So I might try it.

I'll write you a step-by-step guide on how to recruit Jaheira. I've done my research on the topic and executed the plan below perfectly afterwards.

>1.) Ask her to join you before the Moonrise Assault.
She's suicidal and her Harpers are bugged (e.g. no Extra Attack), under-equipped (common gear, lack of consumables, etc.) and tactically awful fit (very few Wizards, no Clerics and Paladins) for the fight. Getting her aboard is the only way to protect her.

>2.) Do the Main Hall fight with her in your ranks.
Jaheira is technically an attached follower of your MC at this point. Like a summon! No full-time companion so you can't resurrect her or give her shit like Aid so keep her safe!

>3.) Head down to the Prison (stairway right to the Throne Room).
There's an exciting fight there but the main reason we're doing this as Jaheira refuses to accompany you. She automatically de-attaches, says a few word, walks to the Throne Room and turns to an NPC.

>4.) After completing the prison go back through the stairs, then head to the rooftop and beat Ketheric.
I got back downstairs after it to trade with Talli and Jaheira still stood there like pic rel. Once you're ready talk to her. "I stand ready to reinforce, if you need it.", she says. Invite her to the pack with the 1st line then head to the rooftop.

>5.) Walk to the rooftop with Jaheira, talk to her (optional?), then watch her stand besides the freshly opened "tunnel".
You can recruit her as a full-value companion for the first time here. I advise against it. If you want to give it a shot dismiss somebody from your ranks and only talk to her afterwards.

>6.) Complete the Colony and got back to the Throne Room where everybody should be waiting.
This is the grand moment. Send a companion back to camp then recruit Jaheira to the empty spot, then you can immediately teleport back to the camp and test if she works as intended. Needless to say do hard saves every-damn-time before you talk to her!

Thanks. I did do most of this but I recruited her after when you're all downstairs in the main room (throne room?) after you kill him and stuff. I'll load from before the assault and try it out just to see I would prefer to use her but I was getting annoyed at it. It was really random too like sometimes shes part of the party sometimes shes not there was no predictablity to it except after cutscenes shes almost always "not in the party" even though she is
Anyways much appreciated.

>>convince the gnolls that they should eat their captor lady
>>i was hoping they would be part of the fight later just running around attacking everyone
That's precisely what should happen. I can only recommend going through the kitchen as 1) it's tactically advantageous and 2) the Gnolls auto-join you as allies (green circle) as soon as the battle starts. Very minor spoiler but pic rel is what happens in if you manage to keep them alive!

>>they just disappar
Haven't you found their bodies? They usually go to the N room of the kitchen, open the door adjacent to the Throne Room then attack the "reinforcements" there to the back. Needless to say they don't stand a change but by that time these enemies usually opened the Throne Room door and engaged in a fight with you, so...

>>562265575
You're welcome! Just follow what I wrote, save often, double-check if she's really a companion at the end and everything should be fine.

The other thing you should really pay attention is to make sure the Throne Room floor is free of every surface (Acid, Fire etc.) that could cause damage. Same goes for ongoing AoEs but they won't be a problem at that point. Because if any NPC steps into them even 1 damage turns them hostile. The applies to the Harpers who participated in the battle, but the most susceptible to this is Isobel after Ketheric is done. Her cutscene starts when you get near Aylin (but you can see her outside before that). So be 100% sure there's no such surface is in a way, as any harm from them is interpreted as you attacking your allies. E.g. if Isobel gets hurt (like by walking through an Acid puddle that give her 1 damage) Jaheira will flat out refuse to join you.

No they just straight up full on disappeared, I dunno why. I even went to the kitchen side of the tower just to see if they were there, nope. Funnily enough neither was the 2nd ogre (i think thats what they're called the big one guarding balthazars room) was no where to be found either, I killed the other one cuz she was in the fight with the absolutists, but the other one was nowhere. This time though i will go to the basement I had already killed the warden when freeing the gnomes/tiefs so i didnt think there will be a fight down there

Update, the answer is yes. I went invisible, stacked dash a few times and then entered turn based mode and flew to the waypoint, unlocked it, flew away into the mummy room, and then warped to a different waypoint. Yenna-Orin was just standing near the wall a little ways away from the hanging body, staring at the doorway she is supposed to go running through if you haven't seen the Orin kidnapping scene as yet.

Weird. I looked up and the only situation where the Gnolls shouldn't appear if you severed their bonds is if the Harpers don't participate in the assault. Which is obviously not the case for you. Here's a screenshot regardless. It probably won't help but at least you get to see what I was talking about.

>2nd ogre (...) guarding balthazars room
If you made Z'Rell kill her (there's a dialogue option about her presenting her power or stg) her corpse should be near the door to the rooftop. The other ogre who complained about the meat sounds in the wall always part of the forces in the Main Hall with Z'Rell.

>I had already killed the warden when freeing the gnomes/tiefs so i didnt think there will be a fight down there

Personally I appreciate your updates as we get to know more about what's possible in the game through them, but why didn't you just let the kidnapping scene play out? The quest is not time sensitive. If you're familiar who gets taken and in what order you can even manipulate it! Then you just put the issue on the sideline until you're ready to deal with it.

I was trying to break them out silently but when the cutscene triggered about if i'm leaving on the boat with the gnomes, the turn based mode came off and they just walked up to us and caught us in the act, so I just killed the 2 guards and warden who are the ones who caught us. I'm not the biggest frog fan. I've said before that the githyanki skin just isn't for me. But damn, if this probably isn't the best romance scene in the game. I feel like maybe only Karlach got perhaps not the same level of quality, but of investment. They gave her a second sex scene, after all. I feel like most of the Act 3 romances are... bland?
Whatever they are, they're not like this. The scene is so simple, it was probably mostly easy to design and animate, but it still feels so impactful.
>>
>>562271930
Like I said, I was speedrunning the waypoints. I haven't attended the coronation as yet, and so I was hoping to also skip Orin's Lower City interactions (I needed to do the shapeshifter jumpscares for inspiration) so that I could decide how I want to pursue their quest lines in my own time. If I've seen the cutscene, I've also seen Orin's ultimatum which progresses her quest line and may create interactions with Gortash I may not have wanted.
tl;dr is just quest/roleplay autism
Fun fact though, you can skip meeting Yenna completely if you fly/jump into the Circus of the Last Days since her trigger is near the waypoint. I did that and proceeded to the Lower City, I've never seen or met Yenna at all and yet all my companions as well as my quest log acted as though I had already seen the Yenna introductory scene. It makes me wonder what would happen if you had no kidnappable companions and also used the killing children mod to kill Yenna. Would she simply come back as Orin's victim? Would she be alive or dead? Would it break my save? I might look into that next run, I was thinking of having it be a duo anyway.

It is, or was, back when the site was thriving and not dying. What is the reason for allowing a post on 4chan today? Making a janny feel good about themselves? Making the discord the janny is in hoot and holler like the animals they are? Anything goes, even off-topic spam and blatant trolling, so long as one doesn't offend an unelected and unaccountable apparatchik, the only true crime left.

When the Emperor fights you on the brain, he's all "witness perfection" and all, does it mean the brain just controls him or did he actually decide the Grand Design is based through facts and logic?

the posting you are advocating would make tangential discussion inappropriate if it passes some arbitrary condition you have decided
im not the one who defines how far tangential is still relevant thats up to the site staff and if here or there is where they draw the line then that is how it is
posts that create positive discussion that are at least tangentially related to the thread/board topic are kept so long as you arent talking about something completely different
if you want to complain about janny/staff decisions isnt that what the irc is for

No, because most of them are (if you can believe it) dumber than the average anon here. They can't read or understand simple English, and it comes off like trying to argue a case to a black DMV worker. The experience is rich on explanatory power for why they seem to have trouble reading and understanding their own rules - they don't "seem", they legitimately can't read - but is very poor on actual real life utility. Try it some time, see for yourself. Ask one to explain an uneven application of the rules, or to simply understand why that's bad, be amazed.

The whole system is silly because the consequence for disapproval is they leave. Why would someone with a ticking timebomb in their head leave the one person in the whole world keeping them safe? Not saying they should ignore the bad things you do but leaving doesn't seem like the right penalty.
>>
>>562299281
>Why would someone with a ticking timebomb in their head leave the one person in the whole world keeping them safe?
because leaving was added, and then the story was changed (probably more than once) entirely and it was too late to fix everything else surrounding it, which is the same case as everything else in the game
>>
>>562297043
>Bomb goes off among orphans in Rivington.
>"Look, see how those refugees are infested with Absolute cultists? They even dare kill the CHILDREN! Vote for me and I will protect you from them!"

He literally has a guide on how to populism in his chambers. Everything he does towards the public is to stoke paranoia and play to the fears of the citiziens.
>>
>>562297043
It creates terror among the refugees, which is pleasing to Gortash's god. It's also why you can find notes in the gnome slave factory where he says something like "make sure they're miserable about it", it isn't enough to make people do stuff, they have to know they're being made to do something, be miserable about it, want to resist but can't because the Tyrant is just too powerful and so on. So it's partially religious, just like how Orin has to murder. It probably also helps drive refugees to acts of violence and gives further cover for emergency powers and more guards on the streets and so on. Here's your 9/11 now give me the patriot act.

Bhaalists.
Sharrans, at the very least have some relatable issues when first entering the cult.
Wanting to forget a personal tragedy is an understandable point of view, but Shar usually takes it and then either wants you to commit evil stuff before you get your reward or uses the memory loss to mold your personality into something evil.
There's also the philosophical side that arguing that pain is tied to existence and that you cannot untie one from the other has some logic to it.

The best you get out of a Bhaalist is arguing whether murdering lots of people or murdering a few in a spectacular fashion pleases Bhaal more.
There's also no ambiguity to it, you need to be someone who enjoys murder to join the cult and Bhaal amps that up, no one joined Bhaal because they felt like a specific person needed to be killed and Bhaal happened to be the one that offered the power.

it's kinda weird that video games is the only artistic medium where changing it wholesale from the writer's intention isn't frowned upon
>>
what is bro >>562314668 yapping about?
>>
like imagine releasing a copy of the fellowship of the ring where you edited out all the parts that humanises boromir and you make him look like a giant asshole just because you don't like him

changing the writer's intention for the character is bad

Love how people glaze Frog's romance when she's also the victim of shitty writing. Regardless of her feelings for you she goes from Vlaakith zealot to Orpheus zealot not really caring about you.
>>
^and this guy didn't play her romance
>>
>>562315683
it's almost as if she's a young idiot who was raised in a culture that brainwashes its youth into extreme hero worship and just pivoted from one target of worship into another or something
the best ending is for her to stay in Faerun
>>
>>562315683
the toadcels be like that
>>
The very first blast of Halsin's seed into Shadowheart while you are asleep or leave them at camp, permanently changes her "scent."
This is a druid thing, he essentially completely marks her as his. Even though he allows you to be with her, the scent transformation is always there to remind both of you about his ownership of her.
>>
>>562315579
*smooch*
>>
>>562315683
Yeah the way she seemed so overzealous about Orpheus and intense about hating Vlaakith right after being overzealous about Vlaakith and intense about hating Orpheus made me think she had just replaced one idol for another.
>>
zealots doubling down on their beliefs is actually good writing tho
>>
>>562313807
you were saying?

>she had just replaced one idol for another.
she did, excellent character development

Minthara isn't important to the plot except as one of three early early game bosses

While you're not entirely wrong, i think that Lae'zel and Karlach took their archetypes a bit too far.
Karlach is essentially a tomboy, but even a tomboy needs to still be feminine at times to get widespread appeal.
She however is hardly ever feminine, she's essentially the good natured giant of the group - with a vagina.

Similar story with Lae'zel, she's your alien space princess, but when she talks cleaving opponents with her sword, tasting your sweat and whatnot, i think it simply turns off too many people.
Her more feminine side is locked behind multiple layers of Gith autism.

Both of them are also STR martials and while it's a bit stereotypical, still feels like a guys domain for obvious reasons.
And then there's Shadowheart, who checks almost every box when it comes to stereotypical love interest in a RPG setting.
>>
You should be able to play as a goblin or hobgoblin or bugbear
>>
Is it worth going all the way to 12 with Swashbuckler or should I multiclass? I'm thinking Battlemaster Fighter would be a good fit.

That excuse worked back when Thieves were the only class who could do all the thievery so you needed one around.
In modern times when anyone can do it, Rogues are just obsolete.
>>
>no extra attack for perhaps the most dexterous class in the game
Yearly reminder that this is bullshit.
>>
if this were a divinity game every subclass could crit on round 1 if their initiative is higher than the enemy and rogues would be able to execute enemies and backstabs would scale with the enemy's total HP
>>
>>562320804
I mean I can see it for something like a thief, since their entire thing is being stealthy and not getting into fights. But something like Swashbuckler not getting extra attack despite being the melee specialized rogue is bullshit.
>>
>>562314038
If only you were capable of obsessively ranting about a character, positively or otherwise. Instead, you would rather bring up their popularity as if it were a testament to quality. It's an easy intellectual shortcut for the shitposter. One that attributes the popularity of Shadowheart to her skin tone and gender. One that attributes the unpopularity of the non-character to his skin tone and gender, rather than the fact that he is dull, inoffensive, spineless. BG3 is surely the CRPG of the decade. It sold twenty million copies, after all.

>>562316691
It was a rant about thread quality, which was considered off-topic enough to earn me a warning. It's like that song by Alanis Morissette.

I don't even help Barcus escape the windmill anymore
I stand and watch him spinning around calling for help, and I say outloud "You know what you did." Then I turn and leave.
Wulbren Bongle? Dies in the Oubliette. And then I restart. I have done this around 30 times now.

I will never forget what you took from me Wulbren.

Lae'zel has a really good arc that spans the entire game. Pro tip if you do go with her:

Let her win
