From what I recall the grenade launcher pods were supposed to explode and inflict heavy damage to the warstrider upon being destroyed, and it had a heatsink modeled up between the grenade pods, so it was fairly clear that you were supposed to destroy both pods to damage or destroy the heatsink, either killing the warstrider outright, or putting it into a bleedout state like hulks.Everyone with half a brain was just asking for them to work the same way other bot heavy units were designed, so it was a high risk high reward encounter. But no, AH caved to redditors who were getting 1shot in light armor running around without any cover, and they made the laser cannons less deadly and the grenades do no damage.

How would a laser + backpack support weapon work, should it exist? The easy way out would be Laser Cannon with an extended firing duration or the Quasar with more shots before overheating. Something like the Harvester beam would be cool, a big "fuck you" laser blast but you are locked in to firing the laser for a full 5 or 10 seconds or something.

Two commando rockets hit the same breakpoints as one EAT so it's not really better call in for call in. Shorter cooldown with the EAT means you don't really need to carry it on your back all the time even if you're going to use it as your only support weapon.
