If those lines didn't exist then you'd have people complaining that SKK just forgave unforgivably evil people because muh harem or whatever. But regarding the Four Beasts, even if I think the ending of their arc sucked it did feel like SU was at least trying to do something a little more interesting with their face turns with them than they did with prior villains.

If it was up to me, I'd make steaks personal in every commander's game. The game would sense which character I like the most by various habits in game like lobby, time looking at CG, blablalink posts, and steak that character in a predefined chapter. The steak would be souless and would be that nikke just dying randomly from a rapture mortar that fell into the ark/outpost/surface/kingdom/eden, wherever your favorite nikke currently is. If your nikke has already been steaked, the mortar will find your nikke's soul and obliterate it making it so she never existed in the game.

It's not even necessarily the case the a Doban into Mustang plotline can't work, it's just that the concept inherently involves throwing out an already very interesting concept and replacing it with what is, at it's core, nothing. Doban taking Mustang's identity doesn't actually mean anything on its own, it serves a hard mechanical purpose within the story of explaining a character shift, but in regards to actual character progression it means nothing by itself. They can write a very good story around it, writing is and always will be more about execution on ideas over the hard ideas, but acting like the twist is preferable to a realized character arc is crazy talk. Twists aren't substantive on their own, they're just surprising. Except this twist isn't even particularly surprising, given they telegraphed it too hard. So until they come up with a good character arc around Doban to justify falling back on a hacky twist, it's just a hacky twist.

I think the best way to conclude Dorothy's character arc is by having the Ark itself save her.Something like the invasion arc happens, and Dorothy gets almost killed, then the citizens identify her as a goddess of victory and try to protect her from getting killed. That would probably be enough to break her from her curse. This would be way in the future, though, because it would require information about the Goddess Squad to become public knowledge.
