Highlander isn’t real tf2. I watched a tournament and whenever the camera shifted to a pyro player’s perspective, the pyro was getting headshot. The Spies were actually getting stuff done, consistently securing impactful picks and gunning people down but pyros seemed almost worthless. Playing pyro in Highlander sounds like a torturous experience. All they do is spam the detonator (they don’t even really use it for mobility) and die to the enemy sniper. Highlander as a whole doesn’t seem very fun but playing pyro in it sounds thoroughly miserable. While watching the Highlander footage, I thought the Spies actually seemed like they were having fun, the pyro players seemed like they were being held at gunpoint. I don’t know who would voluntarily play Pyro in this game mode.

Highlander may seem like it provides more freedom for players and spectators but it just forces two people in each match to play Pyro against their will. All they do is get headshot and spam the detonator for minute chip damage. I’d rather play 2fort turtle engineer than Highlander pyro. Spy looks pretty fun. The detonator is insane when you realize that it's a faster stickybomb launcher that you can use to immediately set anyone on fire at any range. It's one of the only weapons in the game that can deeply fuck up pussy snipers so it's based just for that alone. Playing Pyro well is essentially like playing Demoman, complete with the "get the fuck outta my face" primary weapon (even though the grenade launcher is goated at long range and demoman is still better than pyro, but you get the point). TF2 players hate using the stickybomb launcher and detonator because they're lazy cunts.

What if we just do a weekly map rotation for casual? It wouldn't be too hard to do up various lists for each mode based on categories like valve maps, themed maps, creator showcases, etc and just have them on a weekly rotation.
