Y'know as crappy as the Storybook games are, there are aspects to their worlds that I find myself spending way too much time thinking about, especially Black Knight>Was Eggman actually Merlin?Him having a cute grand daughter who specializes in magic (this world's version of science) could be a nice parallel to Gerald and Maria>Was the Mist Dragon supposed to be Chaos?It's blue and shows up in a watery area. Its name is even related to water.>Was the Earth Dragon supposed to be the Biolizard?Sonic even says the he's reminded of the Biolizard when fighting it>Was the fake King Arthur supposed to be this world's version of Metal Sonic?Literally every other Knight of the Round Table in the game is an alternate version of Sonic's past rivals (even Jet and Silver have Knight versions in the multiplayer mode). Merlina also says that the Fake Arthur (Metal Sonic) was an illusion created by Merlin (Eggman) and it's revealed that Sonic was the true Arthur in the endThen there are the other little parallels to past events like Sonic's fight against Lancelot taking place in a forest (callback to the Shadow fight on Prison Island) and his fight against Gawain taking place near some ancient ruins (callback to the Knuckles fight in the Hidden Palace Zone). Even the townspeople being plant humanoids is a callback to Sonic's role as a defender of the natural environment. You even hear each character's theme play at some point in the game and you get the last time It Doesn't Matter play in an actual cutscene. The more I think about it, Black Knight does a decent job of celebrating Sonic's history without being all in your face about it like Gens/Mania was. Sonic's message of living the best life you can while accepting that things will eventually come to an end stings hard knowing that this is really the last time we see this characterization for him. Funny how both Ryan's and Jason's last roles as Sonic ended on a melancholic note, Roger isn't getting that shit lol

The puzzles weren't terribly hard but were fine for how quick they were and anything harder would probably have broken the pace. Genuinely the writing was the only part I didn't like.
