They didn't force me to repeat it that much before I could start running dungeons and raids, find out that I wasn't keeping up with others, and start learning the part of the game that is actually challenging beyond being tedious to put up with. I don't really remember the details of SL item progression but it's pretty nice in Midnight, aside from heroic raid gear being invalidated after a week.

I obviously can't say what it felt like as an experienced player in SL, but from my limited perspective of doing low keys there, I imagine the average mid-high pug quality is a lot better in Midnight. Ragnaros players are even pulling more than their weight in most groups I join. People say inflation is because the dungeons themselves are easier, but I suspect it's also that pug shitters are improving, which I think is a big credit to Midnight.
