Other factors include whether you are Concentrating on a spell, whether the enemy has Advantage against you (offsetting your high AC), whether you have resistance (from Warding Bond) or damage reduction, etc. Increasing your AC is one way to decrease being targeted. Another is simply to position better.

I can only assume they were trying to give representation to abilities in tabletop that aren't in the base game (the Paladin sword as an example, gives people resistance to spell effects in melee range, which I don't think is an effect in BG3, though there are items that give you advantage on spell saving throws or give the enemy disadvantage on spell attacks).I haven't really thoroughly tested this mod so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else just yet, I just like a lot of PHB 2024 changes and this is the only mod that ports them to BG3.
