It expands on the story in ways no one cares about. It's outrageously bloated compared to the original. Pretty much the only thing that people think is good is the combat, and like, is the combat *that* good? No, it's not that good. It's good don't get me wrong, but is it good enough to carry all the other shortcomings? I don't think so. After the Remake trilogy has come and gone and it's over with, people will still recommend others to play the original, and the Remake will be for diehard fans of 7 who just want more time with the characters and an expansion on the lore, even if it's not up to par and possibly even bastardized, because above all else, it will take over 200 hours just to complete at a baseline level, let alone if you're "having fun" and want to do more than that.

In III, the endgame area is very high technology like the technology seen in V. And then at the end of V, they escape the underground, and it shows the surface of the world being lush and green. In III, the high tech endgame area (Myria Station) is shown to be in a desert, and I think the desert is expanding in the lore, but I don't remember for sure. And we know that, in real life, the Sahara used to be a lush tropical green rainforest. So it could be that the "high tech" is actually ancient technology and it could be that the desert of death in III just exposed it, or it could be that Myria Station was used as a doomsday bunker for an "end of the world" scenario and everyone went down into it as the desert expanded and destroyed the world, and that V is extremely far into the future where the world has recovered and the grass and forests are back. Nina and Ryu in V could be the very first Nina and Ryu. V is also the only game that doesn't have a "Deis" or a "Myria", so maybe they don't exist yet and V occurs very long before all of the games.
