All the cute stuff they add seems like misdirected energy. It's all very game-devy. Gloves get awakened mods if you're a Martial Artist, Oracle has a secret tree, the Shaman has a thing with runes and i think the new chick has one aswell. Beyond this you also have all the unique animations and things on uniques and weapon specific skills. They all exist to make the game seem higher budget and things more differentiated but everyone is also a huge amount of more bullshit to deal with whenever they're going to change anything. The system seems less capable of expanding

I switched to air druid for p8 nightmare and the damage increase from fire is crazy. This comes with the caveat of Tornado sometimes being an utter bitch in single target. Kinda do miss apocalypse and volcano though. They looked cooler.

Finally started watching the Jonathan interview by Chris Wilson, and I swear the start already has very awkward energy between them.
They shot themselves in the foot by not showing more Kalguran skills. They literally add number of skills comparable to a new weapon and they've only shown one.

I never understood the bloat argument, even for PoE 1. You could just... ignore the other mechanics? I never felt like there was too much to do on a map, especially after the introduction of the atlas tree. Part of the allure of PoE crafting is that you would do shit like mix crafting mechanics and bases from essence, harvest, heist, betrayal, delve, bestiary, settlers, etc.
