I mean make options for Inbound, Outbound, and Storage sections of track. Have industries output goods in to train cars stored on site, have cars picked up by another locomotive (that can move backwards), have the cars in the mills either handled by an onsite shunter or get shunting services from your rail distribution offices. Stuff like that I belive is just the next level of complexity up from where W&R has taken us. Just having tower cranes be something you actually need to move around is a huge step up

all thats left is the fuel and engines. i did some rough maths with the calculator from the helpful anon in the last thread and i think 3 of the largest liquid fuel modules should be enough. ill keep an eye on my projected dV as im adding them

this actually still isnt the total, i have to add the fuel tanks and engines; 4 of those assemblies at 7 parts each will take us over 1000.

ill shed a lot when we reach duna, though. the engines, obviously, but also the monoprop/rcs blocks. and then the ships docked in the midsection will be down on the surface most of the time. minus those id estimate somewhere in the 600-700 range?

Tried out Forage Wizard over the past 6 hours and it's basically the first 5 minutes of factorio but for 90% of the game.
And by first 5 minutes of factorio I mean the shit boring cycle of running back and forth loading every machine manually
This is also the first time I ever installed an autoclicker on my mouse, any harvestable resource that isn't fully upgraded is trying to give you carpal tunnel syndrome
What automation system there is is complete garbage and the games research makes it even worse
Campfire creates ash - All you need is a basic extractor
Research that adds a tiny chance for a campfire to create coal as a byproduct
You now need an extractor which leads to a splitter which leads to filter which all take up more space than the campfire itself. The automation isn't cheap to build either.
>>
>>566322274
everything relies on the single limited resource when everything else can be made functionally infinite and every "upgrade" is bigger in a voxel game making it easier to spam the smaller version in the same space for higher output unless required for a recipe.
>>
>>566323447
it's an "incremental" game, the evolution of clicker games
you shouldn't have treated it seriously

What does the mod do and why is it not in parallel with the base system?
>>
>>566332682
I don't know I've got like 250 mods at this point, it's one of those ones that makes automatic saves every 15 minutes or so that you can go back to
>>566332612
I want to but the game fucks up too much to trust it, shit like mechjeb deciding that today it wants to do the circularization burn in atmosphere and my spaceship crashes into the ground, or decides that the best time to do a landing burn is 5 seconds before impact
And then it won't let me load any save from the last however many real life hours of time, and doesn't recognise the quicksave I made before I started the landing burn, and then I get mad and remove the persistent and re-name my quicksave as the persistent and then it loads but the terrain textures are swimming underneath the ship and none of the menu buttons work
I FUCKING hate this game it takes 20 minutes to load and it fucks up so much and I'm so fucking maddddd
>>
>>566333375
>makes automatic saves every 15 minutes or so
Then you can just load the main persistent save and carry on with a minor inconvenience unless you went full retard and let it play out to a vanilla autosave so that you have something actually fucked in your persistent save.
>>
WHY is it looking for the save in the WRONG FOLDER
is this why? it's looking for the save folder inside... the ksp_x64_data folder for some reason?
>>
>>566333375
From your description I see nothing that isn't your fault. You are fucking retarded.
>>
>>566333375
>but the game fucks up too much to trust it
yeah, honestly that is fair. The mechjeb thing is whatever. I only used it before Dv calcs were native because I cant be assed to. I always do all my own maneuvers because that shit gets my dick hard. Planning then proper execution. Love it when a good plan comes together.
>>
>>566332427
>>566333375
>>566333875
I'm going to assume that the mod tries to shield the vanilla saves by using a different directory and so you need to manually access them should something go wrong. I guaran-fucking-tee this was spelled out in the mod description.
>>
>>566333954
I know I'm fucking retarded that's why I'm so mad, I don't know what I did wrong

I'm also so fucking mad because I was so close to landing this god damn piece of shit moon lander with deployable rover but when it came to landing it, I couldn't properly slow down and ran out of fuel for the retrothrusters and it smashed into the ground - not entirely destroyed, but decided to start uncontrollably spinning for no reason because physics something or other
I hate that 80-90% of the time this game works fine and then it fucks up or crashes or something stupid
>>
>>566334096
I do my own maneuvers but it would be nice to program in long precise ones like an optimal ascent profile. Or even target an exact initial tilt on liftoff (instead of restarting 20 fucking times until I happen to have held the yaw button for exactly the right number of frames) so that it can passively gravity turn at the correct rate.
>>
>>566334574
I always budget extra Dv to accommodate for my level of human error. I mean, if you suck at grav turns then you could just haul a metric fuckton of Dv and TWR to LKO then turn sideways and full throttle to circularize. You just have to engineer shit that you can manage with your skill level to fulfill the mission it was made for.
>>
I tried Timberborn for an hour or two but it didn't hook me.
The combination of engineering and colony sim doesn't seem to work for me. The colony stuff just feels weak and makes the interesting stuff take too long
>>
>>566335751
A clean ascent profile as is would basically be human computer shit - have a table beside you and keep adjusting angle as matches your altitude. Except you have a couple degrees of uncertainty on the navball and every manual adjustment makes the thing wiggle all retarded plus the SAS is fighting you so you have to just turn it off, yaw five degrees, turn it back on. This isn't about achieving goals (the bar is far too low) or human ability. It's about wanting the optimization despite the controls being absolute ass.
>>
>>566336764
It does take a bit to get the main game loop going, which is badtides - unlike flood sthey need you to actually control water flows rather than just dam them up.
Problem is, they tend to kill you immediately if they just happen right out the gate so they have to make it take a bit for them to start happening or there'd be a chance on every save that you'd just get wiped at the end of the first cycle
>>

I'm looking at Satisfactory mods to have upgradable manufacturing and thus fewer objects in big builds, mainly to reduce the rendering/simulation load. Otherwise I want to stay vanilla. Is there any reason Industrial Evolution: Lite won't suit my needs? These mod descriptions seem to have only a summary and no link-out to a detailed description which supremely chaps my ass as someone already irritated by terrible documentation across all things. I even begrudgingly went into the modding discord to see if they hid documentation there and lolnope.
>>
>>566343525
Search it on youtube and see if anyone did a showcase.
>>
>>566336764
I think the problem with getting into Timberborn is that it's easy, boring and unrewarding to progress on the lower difficulties.
It's a complex game and it makes sense that when given a bunch of maps and a difficulty selection to just go for easy to learn
But the first map gives you no reason to get into terraforming and fluid management which is the meat of the game and having to progress the braindead easy sim stuff just to experiment is a immediate turn-off
>>
Good Lord, this is a lot of handfeeding...
>>
Holy fuck the Satisfactory Mod Manager is a total shitshow. It seems that they develop it with some strict conditions, totally indifferent or oblivious to end user systems, and any deviation from their bizarre choices breaks it. After finding a THIRD way in which it was broken I decided to just test the veracity of the "Do not manually install mods!!!!!" warnings. Low and behold, Unreal modding is still totally just "unzip files into directory." What absolute fucking jackasses.

sponges are such a weird inclusion
you don't need them for anything, the one singular thing you do need them for takes absolutely trace amounts, and there aren't even any neat optional uses later
they're just useless

Refined the bees for a CCC event (catastrophic colony collapse)
This should run perpetually now, and there should be 40 chances at minimum to roll for a new queen every time the old one dies, plus I added extra safeguards to make sure that it has an extra queen in buffer along with arquads to have an indeterminate amount of extra pulls (will get better when the arquad buffer is actually utilized, but it might also die on the first 1/200 chance

Colony collapse is a good turd but quintupling your odds of failure from 1/1000 to 1/200 for more honey was probably not the best decision given how honey really just relies on horses, build-a-queen might be better honestly.

It's on its way to being good but I'd hold off for now. They're slowly adding QoL to the game which it desperately needed for awhile now. If you want to keep your dumping areas separate the easiest way is to build a second mining tower and set it to import the first one. That way only the trucks assigned to the first tower are allowed to dump wherever the second one covers.

And if you want them dumping directly into storage just export directly to those storage containers. Get used to using the "only accept assigned trucks" button on storage to prevent them from crossing the entire map to put 60 dirt into a silo.
This is all assuming you've unlocked the advanced whateverthefuck. It's early in the tech tree and allows you to set up what we're talking about.

anons, help me with understanding some mechanics in stationeers
i have been using some simple pipe radiators to cool down the pressurized room
i have filled the pipes with O2+CO2 mix from the room, and a manual valve to control the cooling
it worked fine, since it took a while for the room to heat up, and only about a minute to cool it down to 23C
i was out digging ore, and when i came back to eat and drink, I realized that the pressure have dropped drastically and im choking up
i have checked the tablet, and realized that i have a leak - the pressure kept dropping
took me a while to figure out what is wrong - turns out that one of the pipes that was going outwards has burst, and it somehow leaked the rooms atmosphere outside
after a quick examinationed, i have concluded that O2+CO2 mix in the pipes outside has liquefied and overpressured the pipes ( thats the theory at least )

so here is the question - if i separate the accumulating liquids in a liquid tank, how do i release it back in the pipes as gas? i presure that i need to somehow heat the liquid, or decrease the pressure in the tank or connected liquid pipes
whats the best way to go about that? i have read several articles/posts online, but its either about something else or very "theoretical"
any ideas?
>>
>>566434084
It's Mars, right? Nighttime temperatures are cold enough to liquify CO2 if it's pressurized. I think the easiest solution is to stick a liquid drain or condensation valve onto the gas pipe and wait for all the liquid CO2 to drain out. O2 won't liquify, it doesn't get cold enough outside. Check the phase change graphs in stationpedia(F1) for O2 and CO2.

But to actually answer the question:
>if i separate the accumulating liquids in a liquid tank, how do i release it back in the pipes as gas
There's a "Purge Valve" that pumps vapor pressure gas out of liquid pipes and into gas pipes. Though doing this will cool the remaining CO2 as more of it evaporates due to the pressure drop, and it may end up freezing. So you would have to maintain the liquid's temperature with a radiator or a pipe heater.

There's also an "Expansion Valve" that simply pushes liquid into a gas pipe, letting it evaporate there. Careful though as it has effectively no flow limit, and putting too much liquid into a gas pipe at once will damage it. Might have to put a liquid pump before it as a flow limiter.
>>
>>566435257
>There's a "Purge Valve" that pumps vapor pressure gas out of liquid pipes and into gas pipes.
thank you anon! i will try this method and deal with the tank temperature drop later, as needed
i dont have any data, but i suspect that the volume of liquified CO2 per day is very low - so if i place the tank inside the heated room, it will not have time to freeze
of course, i could simply replace the mix with pure O2, but i want to experiment a little
once again, thank you for a useful and informative post!
>>
>>566434084
Condensation valve + passive liquid inlet would do the trick to get the liquids back into the room
But honestly there's no reason to have the base atmosphere directly connected into the pipe going out, it's better to fill that pipe with some working gas once, seal it, add radiators inside/outside, then put a valve in between.
>>
>>566437945
Faster heat transfer, and one passive vent is way cheaper than a radiator array. Seems like he did seal it though, only used the room's air mix as a working gas.
>>
>>566438517
Faster heat transfer isn't a positive if you're just trying to cool down the base a little bit, it's not like he's running gas generators in there

stockpiling?
no, that's useless
you see, that's the second and 4th science
I've got 150k automation and logi is inbetween those at 50k atm
you're required to produce roughly twice as much as the previous science at any time
actually consumption follows a function I could math but I'm dumb
it goes 1 primary, 2 scondary, 3 tertiary, 6 quaternary, 10 pent- for the fifth science and 20 for the sixth, 30 for the 7th, 60 for the 8th, 100 for the 9th and 200 for the tenth and final science
which means that the single endgame research costs 1.6 million automation science

which is kind of wacky seablock levels

what do you think about this cooling system anons?
it seems to be working so far, although i have to stress-test it, to make sure all the precautions are functioning as intended
i am filling the pipes with gases from my "waste tank" through a pump, that pushes 2L of gas ( why is it in liters and how do i convert it to pressure values so i dont iverpressure the pipes? )
then i have a pressure valve that limits the outgoing pressure to 50kpa
gas is moving through a interior radiator, and goes to an automatic valve that is controlled by a temperature logic, so its only letting the cold gas through if the temperature inside is high enough
on the other end of the outside pipes/radiators, i have a condensation valve that is supposed to collect liquids from the gas pipes and move them into the liquid pipes
there is a liquids tank that is supposed to collect the liquids, although its probably an overkill, and i dont even know if its working, when installed this way
in the end, there is another valve that feeds the system with evaporated liquids from the pipes
its most probably a very “messy design” with unnecessary components, but i would rather think of something myself at this point, rather than copying an online blueprint
in theory, it looked like a working model to me - does anyone see any obvious flaws here?..
>>
>>566522196
Pumps move volume, not pressure. If you don't want to overpressurize something, either use a pressure regulator, or set up some control circuit to turn off the pump if there's too much.
>>
>>566520924
yeah but you use a LOT in py1 by then to keep a decent amount of science going
and it's used in logi
and it's used in py2 a bit all over the place
I had chest-fed logi for a while before rebuilding but still, I am already cutting it close as is and I need to scale up
all my formic comes from urea since the vrauks are getting busy with the bees
>>
>>566522389
>use a pressure regulator
as far as i can tell, you cant connect to "devices" without have a pipe between them - im already using a pressure regulator, but there is a single pipe section between them, that took damage when i ran the very first test
i guess i will have to see if there is a "digital pressure meter" of some sorts
>>
>>566523071
You don't need both a pump and pressure regulator. The pressure regulator also slowly pumps gas, even if the input pressure is lower than the output pressure.

If you've beaten Factorio vanilla you'll probably find DSP on default settings a comfy experience. DSP has a strong late game bias, so you won't be doing big builds until you're a good way through the tech tree, just build what you need to automate the current tier of science and infrastructure/production buildings. Once you get to the penultimate level of science and can set up shop in other systems the game really opens up and you can go nuts building your forge world with quad stacked tier 3 belt smelter arrays.
>>
>>566512247
Sure, have your first playthrough with the dark fog disabled. Everything else is fairly straightforward /egg/ outside of the dyson sphere, and that part of the game is more of an aesthetic decision than a functional one.

The game was designed without enemies in mind. The exclusive resources they drop are virtually all about hyper efficient production buildings that compress lines down to a tiny footprint, and one fuel type that replaces the previous endgame fuel type in the same building. Neither of which are actually all that compatible with DSP because the one thing you have abundance of is building space while the one thing you will be starved for is power on the ground.
