Ah, Earth Dancer! Your dance has brought me joy and happiness. In gratitude, allow me to bestow upon you this recipe.
Gotta be so tedious to be an indie dev right now, you spend years toiling away making the game you want to make that's extremely personal and special to you and then at the last moment right before it's ready to release, no matter who you are or what your game is about, you constantly run the risk of obnoxious dramatubers arbitrarily designating your game as the next culture war flashpoint and sending their army to harass and reviewbomb you and all you wanted to do was make a fucking game.
>>566799928Its all the chinese, though.
Fuck sake, I'm lost again.I restarted a new Return to Moria game because I completely forgot what I was doing and I'm pretty sure the RNG fucked me over, but I'm still lost as to where to go.But at least, I have Erebor Steel stuff now, and not mere iron, so I should be mostly fine.
doritos are a lot more threatening in starsector
Mixtape is getting a lot of flack, but as somebody who plays many story games, I think it's deserving of praise. While the gameplay is obviously minimal, I'd argue it does just enough to be funner to play than watch passively on YouTube. There are constantly new interactions and minigames, some of which give you the option to fool around longer than the story forces you. In contrast to the dev's first game The Artful Escape, that was back to back stretches of just going forward, followed by a copy-pasted Simon Says minigame, no other variety. Mixtape still has some sequences of just going forward, but there's more interesting stuff in between them. And even then, the go-forward sequences tend to be cooler, like webm related where you actually keep control when the camera cuts. I don't like pure walking sims, visual novels, or Telltale-style choice games, so if a game is going to prioritize the story above all else, I'd rather they be presented like this. Not to say I don't want even more interactivity. But for what it's worth, I unironically felt that the cutscene-to-gameplay ratio was much better than games that don't prioritize the story. The writing and tone is an understandable thing to criticize. Besides John Hughes movies, it surprisingly reminded me a bit of the old MTV cartoon Downtown, so I ended up enjoying it. It's also a relief that the story wasn't muddied with sexual identity subplots or political commentary, I think you really have to reach to cry woke about it (and also be ignorant of tons of other coming-of-age stories from before the internet).

The writing in S2 makes me cringe, the gameplay is almost comparable to the first one but picking up these audio logs next to blueprints is playing roulette with how low these writers can sink. Aside from that, I think the first game had better presentation around the start when you had to enter the Crash Zone. All the starter biomes were visually distinct, here they all blend together asset wise if you look past the screen changing color when you're near parasites or vents of lava.

>>566828638If you remove the philosophical couching they are actually correct. Human economics does in fact have a lot of logical similarities to competition of species but instead of biological entities, its goods, ideals, platforms, ect. What the character (read: the person who wrote this) is missing is that yes, its not 100% the same thing and theres corruption, collusion, cohersion, laws, and ideology that can distort a marketplace to where it isn't a 1:1, but it doesn't need to be a 1:1 to say that in an ideal situation, the same ideal applies.I just don't get this modern fallacy these people keep employing where they all of a sudden introduce morality into it. Nature does not give a fuck if a baby animal lives or dies, its both cruel and beautiful like that, you can't just turn around a say "free market bad because people lose their jobs", Yeah they do lose their jobs and in a lot of ways they clear the ground so someone else who isn't working or can't make money can make money.Nature doesn't care about you, neither does the market. So why they fuck would you turn around and say that the market is immoral because of it?

>>566832342The crucial part that's missing from this is that a lot of deserts are created when grazing animals grow out of control since they have high reproductive rates for animals of their size. >>566804124Replaced, nearing the end, going in I feared it would be some subversive story due to the "bodyswap" theme but its actually a good gritty cyberpunk story, well a big pharma dystopia but samesame really, and the gameplay is fine albeit a bot railroady but that kind of expected for a narrative side scroller. Artstyle is a solid 8~9/10, just reduced because the color palete is so alike that everything blend together which often caused me confusion as to where to go because sometimes its a platform that blend nigh perfectly with the background, or a tiny ledge you can grab unto, or a damaged wall that blend in the decor. There are times I just jumped straight to my death as I didnt see the intended path and thought the endless pit just had some ledge I couldnt see further ahead. One peculiar time the shadow of a background safety ledge looked like a stair from the point of view when you enter the room, so I only realized it wasnt a staircase as I was falling to my death. Guess its just a side effect of having every level so full of small visual details, which you can tell was seen as a problem during devellopment because it also ironically suffer of the yellow paint problem, albeit ill give them credit that it blend very well into the environment and doesnt look out of place, ie yellow scaffolding or piping in industrial setting.Combat is nice, responsive and reactive but the enemy put enough pressure that you cant just hack n slash your problems away, so fights keep you on your toes. Not peculiarly hard, so it doesnt feel unfair, but it do feel like some of the AI can take advantage of each others (ie the weak sneaky guys love to loiter around the tanky bastard, which make dealing with this combo a pain) to get at you.My only real pet peeves is that the music you unlock cant be played ingame a la mgs5, like I dont want to stare at a codec call for 8 min doing nothing while the song play, that just annoying and break the pace.

Also comes with extra HP and damage reduction.Musketeer is for all hand held guns, they're great at picking off individual enemies at a distance, but take a while to reload and only special ones have multiple shots and need a perk to be equipped.Mastery is for getting extra bonuses and damage with various combat types from above, or more damage reduction.Adventurer is useful non-combat buffs like enhancements to alchemy or trading.

been playing stellar blade for a couple of hours. have been debating/switching between normal and hard for the whole time. it's extremely annoying how unbalanced it is. hard is close to being ok but enemies taking forever to kill on top of them just oneshotting you (at least at the stage i'm at in the game) makes exploring really tedious. i'm not bad at combat, in fact i've made sekiro my bitch so the combat is easy, but one slip up will genuinely just kill you and multi-fights get pretty hard because of this. bosses as well are just giant damage sponges and take forever. normal is just way too easy though. you take no damage and while i think the enemies die in an ok number of hits they could be a little tankier since combos can do so much damage. but the boss fight was a joke. i switched to normal after a couple of attempts on hard for the first boss (abaddon) just to see what it was like and i killed him so fast i barely had time to register if i was enjoying the fight more. there was nothing to it. very frustrating because i want to play on hard but it's balanced so improperly (nothing like a fromsoft game) that it makes the game actively less fun, but at the same time i don't have that much fun if the game is too easy either. if anybody's played stellar blade what do you think is the right difficulty to play on?
>>566893480Normal for the first go. I'm not sure if you can change the difficulty for NG+ (I only played it the once), but if you can then go Hard on round two. I enjoyed the game, some bosses had me making several attempts even on normal, definitely gets tougher as you go. I liked finding all the outfits and catching all the fish.

I just did the fun stuff and character quests and finished the game with all of the endings. I'll get 100% in a few years when all of the DLC is out.
>>566900542Whoops. Accidentally put Cryptmaster twice.
>>566900352Is it good? I'm in a mood for Timesplitter, but I'm having trouble installing it.Fucking 7 Zip insists on unzipping it in my c: disk that Windows hogged hard, who has 2 GB free, instead of on f:.
>>566901140Are you putting the zip where you want it and choosing 'extract here', or are you opening it and dragging the files to the folder you want? The latter extracts the files *then* cut-pastes them to the destination.
>>566901802>it was exactly thatI will babysit your children while you game and teach them survival. No homo.
DON'T UNDERESTIMATE THE FRENCH ART OF THROWING BRICKSWE ARE GOOD AT REVOLTING
To start with, level design is pretty much 1-1. Art *style* took a hit, but it's not made of 6 polygons anymore either.
Still much prettier though. This level is a desert tomb, but in TS1 it looks like concrete.
A weird omission, but I guess it helps make the room feel less claustrophobic? The lack of wall art is painful, but the torches are an improvement over the fuckass lamps.
Oh for fuck sake, survival is just that awful mode where you're alone in a single room.
Enemies are aggressive as fuck. Once they're aggroed, they will hunt your ass down and aren't slouches. There's some pretty heavy autoaim to compensate for the shit aiming, but zombies NEED to be headshot to be killed and the autoaim is actively detrimental.>>566904395Yeah, survival sucks. Challenges using it are worse.
>>566904542I hoped for a mode I could play with my mate, I still have fond memories of playing Mordhau with him, but he sucked at it and thus hated it.Also, fucking hell, I just realized that the map who's been living rentfree in my head for years was actually from Timesplitters, it's the Training one.
>>566901802Still can't believe this was my issue.
Practically identical. Enemies are a bit spongier, less damaging, and wiggle around a bit more, but otherwise you can probably play one and swap to the other blindfolded.
>>566905269Why do people like the luger so much? It's a shit pistol that jammed very easily.
>>566905487It looks cool.Unless you are a hobbyist nobody gives much of a shit about how functional a gun really is.
The opening moments to Cyberden, TS1 has the first 3 levels unlocked to start with.4 enemies in the first room, two of which are in the rafters, on normal difficulty, on the third level. TS1 is a fucking evil game.
The opening area to Siberia, which Rewind has as an arcade map, versus how it appears in TS2. Very nice.
>>566907201Oh fuck, I played that level so much.
>>566905487It never had a reputation for jamming often or easily, maybe just don't shove rocks into the action while it's cycling. The ammunition capacity was fine at the time and it wasn't overly heavy or awkward to wield.Much like the M1911, it is mostly appreciated for its widespread service in a major military conflict, not for any outstanding mechanical qualities.
>>566907394STEAM PRESSHURE AT THEIRTY THLREE PERCENT
>>566907658SPECIAL FORCES HAVE BEEN DEPLOYEDWasn't there a gunship too? Or was it in Goldeneye?
>>566907893Yes there's a gunship at the top of the dam, but only on normal/hard. On easy you leave immediately after getting the time crystal in the zombie cave.
>>566908262Wait, what? Difficulty changed the maps?
>>566908354Yep. Normal was the full level. Easy had added shortcuts, mechanic changes (ie. in Neotokyo, the hacker you have to follow is semi-invisible on normal, but fully visible on easy), or just sliced it in half. Hard additionally makes all the secondary objectives mandatory for completion.
>>566908773Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh.So that's why the maps always felt different every time. It wasn't actually random.
>>566908863TS1 actually takes it further. For the first level, the artifact you have to get is 2-3 floors down, a 3 minute jog. On normal, it's practically doubled, with more enemy spawns and weapons to find to boot. On hard you go all the way to the bottom, through two large setpiece rooms filled with gnarly ambushes.Future Perfect, on the other hand, has zero difficulty changes beyond the usual 'make the baddies hit harder'.

>>566913398It's just left early access.Like, right now. Today.
>>566914049Having finally played some of 1 and 2 back-to-back, 1 is definitely harder by a noticeable degree. There's more enemies, many of them are hiding around corners, and the final runback with the Timesplitters spawning all around you all combine into a brutal teethgrinder. I believe it's because the levels are only 3-5 minutes apiece, and with only 9 levels that's less than an afternoon of playtime. Crank up the difficulty so you're spending an hour on each, suddenly it's a lot more time for your dollar. Arcades used to kick your ass so you'd put more quarters in for more lives or playtime, and when TS1 was made that style hadn't fully gone away yet.

>>566975923it's just worse in every regard. The biggest disappointments for me were worse vehicles, worse exploration and 1:1 recycled progression with nothing new to offer. No Cyclops so your gameplay loop HAS to include building a static base and backtracking to it every now and then. The map is just bad and you are basically going through the same old resource progression from the first game. No wanderlust, no feeling of discovery. It's just a boring checklist to complete.
>>566975923Its basically a pitiful attempt at recapturing the lightning in a bottle that subnautica was, and failed massively at it because the new devs didnt understand the game and tried to turn it into a narrative driven circus that felt like it was written by an amateur, and be thankful because the story line we now have, while it suck, is an improvement over that of the early development story which was so laughably bad and cringey that it was almost entirely canned. Its why the intro is about you going to surface to find your sis and prove her innocence, then its barely important the entire time until almost the very end. Also the map is way smaller and less detailed, and less deep with less variety in biomes and animals.
Playing the vamp crawlers demo... it's really exhausting?

And the game has the balls to just let it happen without comment. No journal pop-up, no comment by your PDA assistant, you just stand there, let it sink in and have to move on. It gets me every time on replay even though it's no longer a surprise.Meanwhile BZ has a voiced protagonist that comments on everything and the terrible story is much more front and center. And it's the kind of writing, where the game treats you like you're an idiot who's to dumb to follow along. There were moments where the main character acted surprised about something happening, even though if you even paid attention for half a second you would have seen it coming from miles away. It's a shame, the first game was an amazing diamond in the rough.Plus a good chunk of the vocal "criticism" centered around how the main character is a black woman now and I always wonder how much of the more valid concerns that drowned out.
