Did Joule really destroy Zonda's soul? Where did that come from?
>>
>>567150841
No traits of Zonda appear in the final Mytyl, meaning that Zonda was purged. As Zonda's soul was part of Joule and GV said Joule was destroying her, stands to reason that Joule completed the destruction to make sure Zonda stayed dead. That's right Zondafags. Elpiss and Mother got happy endings while Zonda had her soul completely annihilated.

Some guy mixes his weird headcanons into stuff, or just does it to mess with people.
Nothing is ever said or implied about Zonda's soul. The reason there isn't any trace of her left in Mytyl at the end is because she wasn't part of the original equation to begin with. Or Xiao just made sure to purge her since he was apparently the one handling the Mytyl/Joule fusion.
Instead it was probably GV who got cursed with the giant pink shards sticking out of his back as a dragon. There's no explanation for that anywhere in designer comments or notes.

Outside of Mytyl, it's not that edgy, and the edge is being committed against you. Most of iX is actually pretty wholesome. You're helping orphans for most of it. The Falcons have a messed up situation, but Copen and Lola are unhappy/angry over fighting them, showing their humanity. Death is tragic, but feels like it's for a good purpose. iX is hopeful.

Even the Butterfly Effect exists to suppress adept anger at the oppression and genocide of minos, and once taken down, end up peacefully coexisting in iX2. Nobody but two characters actually dies in the good end of iX2, and the villain gets a sympathetic, even happy sendoff.

GV2 is edgy all the way through, and your character is committing the edge. All the deaths are miserable and feel pointless. There's a hopeless feeling pervading everything, and the world and surviving characters feel like they are in a worse place by the end of the game.

>A long awaited sequel to "that game" will be announced on the 22nd
The wording on Inti announcements are always hillarious. Remember the long awaited revival of the beloved IP that turned out to be Kingdom's Return?
>>
>>567168172
What game could it be? It's Inti, so it'll be underwhelming. I guess Gal Guardians or iX3. Nothing actually good.

iX is a low hanging fruit but I can't really imagine anyone waiting for yet another sequel to that, as the specific wording implies. It wasn't even supposed to have a sequel to begin with.
If we can't get a proper Gunvolt conclusion as is constantly requested in comments to other Inti announcements, I guess it could only be Gal Guardians. Which mite b cool. Or the start of a new BMZ, which is probably the best outcome.
One thing is for certain, Inti is in dire need of a win.

The best, but least likely, case would be iX3 and GV4 revealed. GV4 is the "long awaited sequel," but companies say whatever.

Going off of release cycle, where INTI alternates between the two universes, it'd have to be iX3. However, by reveal cycle it would be GV4. We know iX3 is actually in development, whereas with GV4, we've only had a few statements to the effect of they want to make it.

iX was always seen as a stopgap series, so to be announced first after four years of nothing but re-releases wouldn't be that hype. It would also push GV4 back another year. INTI would be repeating the long gap between GV2 and GV3, which is something that they said they wanted to avoid in the future.

The new developments could just have alluded to the OCW release in september, not necessarily an entirely new game. The mere existence of more iX games goes against Inti's core principle of "No pointless sequels," and iX2 was only made because GV3 stalled and its development got fucked over from stem to stern from not only being rushed like hell, but also having to bear the burden of including all the flunk DLC collabs that were otherwise meant for GV3.

I sincerely hope it's not iX3, that would ruin my entire weekend. I like Copen, I would love to play as Copen again, but only in the context of another mainline game. The iX series just doesn't excite me at all.
>>
>>567179535
Playable Blade would get my hyped. Aside from that, yeah, not a lot to get excited about with iX, and I am an optimist who thinks they'll fix the issues from iX2. Even if it is a fun game, I'll probably forget about it a few weeks after.

>I'll probably forget about it a few weeks after.

>Where gameplay is forgotten, good writing stays; yet without good gameplay, nobody will care.

Above is why the most fun games in the world are only flashes in the pan in fan communities if their writing is nonexistent or shit, and explains why nobody really discusses iX or classic Mega Man. If Mega Man is discussed, it's one of the more character driven entries like Legends or Star Force.

Like how many people remember or discuss Astro Bot. Even back in 2024, where it picked up almost every Game of the Year award, it was almost instantly forgotten about a month after release because it was just a fun game, and that's all it had going on.
>>
>>567149824
>>567150091
The only other general who still has a golden week OP is /atg/ and that's because in their setting golden week is the time of the year where orcs and onis get extra rowdy and violent so basically every taimanin gets it and a lot don't come back.
>>
>>567180382
I've been burned one too many times and have zero faith in Inti's ability to fix the gameplay, especally when they keep doubling down and slapping on bandaid solutions to what is a fundamentally broken character. He's like a tower of duct tape at this point. Adding a playable Blade on top of this would just be adding insult to injury, but then again, that series is just one big humiliation ritual for him anyway.
>>
>>567181147
Astroturfed isn't talked about because it only had one merit, it was the only Sony exclusive of that year that could get GOTY and don't instantly kill Dorito pope's rep with the normalfags. Also, the most talked Mega Man series are X and Zero. Zero because it's the one who kept it's story the least messy and X because it failed so hard at that that it is still a compeling piñata.
>>
>>567181847
>but then again, that series is just one big humiliation ritual for him anyway.
Cope gets to be the most heroic and badass protag. People are never going to let Dogvolt the Lolikilling Planet-Ender and Sumeragi Cuck, who failed to keep any of his friends safe, live it down.

Majogami had a great story...but nobody bought it, so nobody talk about it.
>>
>>567182439
Nah, most people over here either forgave GV when he owned up to his past actions and expressed grief or saw him as a classical hero and were fully supporting him throughout (these were the ones who were bitching about GV showing regrets).

GV was always in the right, but he might have been pursuing it in a very subpar way (aka killing 100 people when he could have achieved the same results with no deaths) or letting himself be manipulated by bad actors.
>>
>>567182546
Majogami had great characters. The story was pretty standard.

MMZ's story is less messy if you keep it isolated. The problem is that it insists on trying (and failing) to tie into a long story between the series and becomes the cause of the mess.

It's not that GV was showing regrets, it's that he did it in the most bitchy was possible and took the easy way out. In the context of the situations he were in, Gunvolt totally did the right thing. He saved a little girl from the nightmare Human Experimentation group, he stopped Proto Butterfly Effect from happening with Nova and he saved billions of ordinary humans by killing a couple of little kids. What he CAN and SHOULD regret is that it HAD to be done.
What we got was total character assassination.

Finished KR using Wizard. Got about almost 10 hours into it. It was okay, my thoughts after playing the demo was that it was too bare-bones and I still think that after finishing it. I liked the cute and charming pixel art and it was a moderately fun cheap little game but it's simply not finished at all. It at least needs a gear system and some harder missions after the last boss or something. More classes, larger skill trees, more ways to build characters, etc. It's like they started a game and then just decided to release it when it clearly wasn't done. The town building wasn't very good either, it's too rigid with charging you to move things around and then limiting how many roads you can put down. Then since you can only view it from one angle and each asset only has two directions, it's really hard to make something that actually looks good. I just huddled all my buildings around the wizard castle which was effective but looked bad. I still hope they make DmfD2 or make a higher-effort attempt at a "choose a class" game someday. I'm probably one of the few ones here that could care less about GV and KR is moving more in the direction I want. Also it needs more loli classes.

That probably would have been better. It never sat right with me that GV felt gratified after killing people like Elise/Stratos or the Eden kids. It should have been a time of reflection, like Copen in iX; an ugly thing that needed to be done, not a moment of celebration. They want you to sympathize with GV, but those moments make it much harder, especially when INTI keeps pushing out short stories about how likable and actually not bad their badguys were.
>>
>>567185792

You can see in that one cutscene near the middle of GV1 that rank and file soldiers all report to Nova. He's called "Defense Unit Head" and is officially the commander of all the adepts under him. He also seems to have the sole responsibility for managing the barrier over Japan. So while there are still executives higher than him, he should be just a rank below. And obviously, he could overthrow them by force anytime he wanted, but chooses to work within the rules

They don't do a good job covering it in the games, but GV's escapades are overly destructive. The Asimov missions all tend towards just blowing up shit for no real discernible effect but instability and death.

For example, let's say GV needs to take out some Sumeragi bigwig. The exec follows a set schedule, and if he planned it right, he could sneak into the compound and kill the guy without having to pile up the bodies. Or, he could hack the systems, blackmail the exec, and turn him into an asset. But instead, GV just barges through the front door and starts blasting everyone, because he didn't even know the above was an option, blowing up some important infrastructure and harming a bunch of civvies as collateral. This also has the effect of radicalizing the enemy, forcing a fight to the death.
>>
>>567186875
Nova leads a battalion. Don't overstate his importance. The "I AM SUMERAGI" line is a meme over in Japan, as he's seen as a middle manager at best. The forces you fight in Gunvolt are a smattering from different Sumeragi agencies. They don't all belong to Nova, because Sumeragi is a neofeudalistic megacorp hellscape where different factions have different interests.

It's a nice detail how the Gino and Monika missions are either investigating something suspicious that leads into a death trap set up by Sumeragi (Merak and Elise stages) or actually do something that you can immediately tell helps adepts that are abused by Sumeragi (Carrera and Stratos stages)and then there's the Asimov stages where he just goes "blow this shit up, it'll make Joule happy you want that right GV just trust me".

They should've dialed up the Adam Jensen'ing of his character in Gunvolt 3, or turn him into an X type character who is wholly committed to peace and defends that stance even as he wrestles with the pressure to be a bridge between the species and the morality of having to kill his own kind to make that possible. They had every opportunity to do so, but we all know where they went with that.
>especially when INTI keeps pushing out short stories about how likable and actually not bad their badguys were
It's so strange. I realize many of these characters are beloved OCs of the staff, but the moral rationalization pushed in these short stories only really serve to retroactively invalidate the games and Gunvolt's actions in them, or so I feel.

Magical Girl Genocide's plan to boost adept power and kickstart a global revolution probably would not have led to the creation of an adept pure global order, like she and GV predicted, though it would have created tons of instability. Most adepts don't actually want to kill all nonadepts.

Even within the games, GV is shown to be wrong. The shorts just show that he's even more wrong. That isn't to say that his enemies are right. They're wrong as well. But the situation is very complicated, yet GV is applying very simple logic to everything like it's MMX and his enemies are mavericks. Calling Desna irredeemably evil, for instance, was ridiculous if you consider GV's history and know anything about hers. Nova and Zonda call him out for this, but they're as wrong about GV and the world as he is about them and the world.

The thing is that the world around Japan has fallen into complete societal collapse because of the emergence of adepts, with many countries having turned into literal "scorched hellscapes", as most data points underline. Japan is holding itself together solely because the immoral mega conglomerate Sumeragi is able to somewhat monitor and control them through Glaives, and that's still only a certain percentage of the populace. The rest of the world aren't close to being as lucky.
Now if the world is doing THIS badly as is, it doesn't take a lot of brain power to imagine how bad it'd get when every other adept suddenly gets ANTHEM'd into a super state. It'd be a tickle me hellmo on earth for everyone involved.

And I know you can be point to GV3 and be like "nyo, look it's all fine!" but I'd also like to just dismiss that preemptively and underline GV3 as a game that didn't even TRY to read the room and be a proper follow-up to the events that conspired in the previous entries. It's practically a soft reboot.

From Eden's backstories, they still have societies. Like Gibu went to school, and trusted the government enough to go to the police before they tried to pin her parents' murder on her. It seems like it's mostly nonadepts chimping out. You might get a random adept here and there, but you don't get roving packs of religious nuts burning villages down in adept hunts. And nation states are strong enough to carry out pogroms or wage wars, or support cities. There is enough of a society where we have active human rights groups working in the background. It's not all Mad Max. The nations which collapsed were already unstable and/or fucked.

And the majority of adepts are weaksauce. They're peak humans physically, but their powers suck. GV probably killed a significant chunk of the adepts with powers that actually mean something by himself. It's really hard to parse a lot of this, because you know Sumeragi is throwing out a ton of propaganda about how they're the safest refuge on Earth, and it's not completely false either, from what outsiders like Zonda or Asimov would attest to.
>>
>>567190302
As nice as Desna is she's still part of an adept supremacist group actively working towards a world without regular humans, and in a sense that does make her irredeemable. It's not like she's trying to stand down at any point and Gunvolt refuses to show her mercy, the very first thing she says to him is that she will bring him down for the sake of Zonda and Eden's future.
>Even within the games, GV is shown to be wrong. The shorts just show that he's even more wrong.
What would you have him do? What is the point? What does it all lead up to?
It seems the writers never took the time to ask themselves these questions. As nice as Eden seems to be in the audio drama, they all jumped on the genocide train the moment an opportunity presented itself and obstinately refused to budge from it or even question it. And yet it still tries to give them a moral license while dragging Gunvolt through the mud again.
Like I genuinely don't understand the point of doing this. The writers are fucking Cthulu'esque in their intentions here.

I think it's wrong to dismiss what little actual datapoints we do have in the story, otherwise it's all just red herrings that lead nowhere. There seems to be some genuine inconsistencies in the information we're being given, but I don't think humans started stoning their babies because the 10 year old girl got highlights in her hair and could grow flowers in a circle around herself. The game doesn't take place in the middle ages.
There would have to be some genuinely awful catalysts that shaped the deeply ingrained prejudice and fear the common folk has amongst adepts.

It doesn't give them any moral license. It's more like "gee, it really sucks to have to kill them" and "GV is such a cool badass that he doesn't give a shit about sob stories or if they're even 5 year olds," which he doesn't, probably because he has his own fucked up backstory. The "man this sucks" and "GV cool guy doesn't feel girly feelings" is all that the pity baiting and redemption baiting is for.
>>
>>567192798
>I think it's wrong to dismiss what little actual datapoints we do have in the story,
I am not dismissing them. Things are genuinely awful. Society has collapsed in many on the more unstable regions of the world. It's not nearly as bad as Sumeragi says it is. Sumeragi lying about the outside world comes up as far back as GV1, if I remember correctly.

For Eden, people mostly take issue with his attitude. GV is nonchalant or happy when he kills them, even characters who look very young or cute.
>WELL WHAT DO EXPECT HIM TO FEEL!?!
Not happy. Maybe a little weirded out. Copen has been killing people for a hundred years in iX and he shows more humanity after a kill. Then their backgrounds and drama CDs throw gas onto the above

For Sumeragi, there are definitely things GV did wrong when fighting them, but people are less likely to defend them because they're dicks.

>>
>>567204032
Yeah. Doing a normal run gets like twice as many points or more here. This is just a consequence of Grave Pillar being a very short stage and also having a very small amount of stage kudos due to breaking up combos, so the X rank requirement is very low while the time bonus score doesn't change.

He was visibly shaken over the fact that his adored sister is part the very same group he has sworn to destroy. Before that his convictions were carved into stone, after that they're starting to show their cracks and he's faltering.
In a classical narrative structure, GV2 would've been the dark middle chapter where the tone becomes noticeably bleaker and stakes are raised. Where the protagonist(s) face moral ambiguity and reaching the lowest points of their lives before leading into the final resolution.

Sadly, the Gunvolt writers couldn't capitalize on that. Only the BMZ one could.

I like to imagine Grazie's ancestor was one of the few Eden survivors that fled into the middle east. Which is far but at least reachable on foot from Uzbekistan.
Maybe the end of Eden is what directly led to Zed's realm as those survivors consolidated power and influence in the region.

I really do wonder what the feedback Inti got from iX2 actually was, because they moved things around like it was positive and addressed stuff that someone who actually liked iX2 would say like "you should be able to unlock enemies without a menu" and "mother 2 has too much health (via kudos wheel damage increase)" and they gave it like a million print-outs, and the JP players I see seem to mostly like it but the western players I see always dislike it

It doesn't really matter either way because they've said they don't actually listen to player feedback (which explains a lot of their actions), what was "fixed" in Connect iX wasn't player gripes but rather what Tsuda didn't like when he tried out the one GV game that had no real involvement of his from start to finish.

True. Inti Creates is a company where the director is god and always has the final say. And you can't deviate from what the director wants TOO much, even if it's solely beneficial, because then it would stop being the ""director's game."" And we can't have that.

One, you are comparing apples and oranges. If Zonda were a muse, she'd have a projection, and it'd have some name that starts with L. Two, you are using their English names, not Japanese names.

As an aside, Zonda is very muse-like with her projections, but she can't be a muse because she already has a septima and Joule would destroy her soul if she tries to pull another GV2 plot. The only way to get her muse powers is to somehow take Joule out of the equation.

>pendant is the muse septima with the Joule removed and Xiao has time travel powers

INTI dropped that plot. Besides, if it did come into play, it would be an I WIN artifact for Zonda unless nerfed, and Xiao would give it to someone more forgettable pliable.

Quinn used to have a more active role in the story, but they removed all of those scenes because they wanted her to stay in the kitchen, separate from GV's world of violence. She was meant to be an island of peace for GV. They also wanted her to be more normal, less extraordinary. Do you think this was the right move?

It's boring during 2 but that's the point, and I like how 3 recontextualizes how much GV cared about her in a way which wouldn't work if she was like a combatant in any real sense so I'd say it's fine. >separate from GV's world of violence. She was meant to be an island of peace for GV.
That's the key prob. So long as she is separated from that side of GV, she can't understand GV. She can't understand his grief, and indeed, she says as much. She understands he's hurting, and they say that's enough, but is it? I know that isn't INTI's intention; they want the two of them to have strong chemistry, but the above is part of the reason why the relationship doesn't feel fulfilling.

Tying in to that, the fact she doesn't participate in the plot means she doesn't have any big romantic moments. It all happens off-screen or is implied through optional conversations. Joule/Mytyl, Kirin, even fucking Gibril, have bigger romantic moments and payoffs than Quinn.

Finally, somebody who just silently supports Gunvolt in everything he does from the sidelines, somebody who Gunvolt can and will hide his sins from, is not what he needs in a final girl. He needs somebody who will call out his fuck-ups and then help him clean it up.

Only reason GV had a vendetta against Eden was because of Joule. Else, he probably would have been fighting to force them to the peace table rather than for their eradication (he probably still would have had to destroy them, but the conflict would have had a different tone). Despite his anti-adept stances in GV2 where he blames adepts for most of the problems the face, he still has a bit of his old QUILL leanings in him.
>>
>>567232560
It could've just gone back to Mytyl or stayed dormant scattered around and Eden just picks it up, it's not like they had set in stone that the septima would just vanish given Mytyl/Joule's unique situation and the fact that stuff like the AB spirits is also a thing.

They'd have had a much easier time making a 2 with GV as the protagonist again if they'd stuck with the original planned ending of 1 with Asimov getting away.
But it couldn't be helped since there was no telling at the time if there'd be a sequel.

Yeah it has cool ideas but ultimately Copen is very incompatible with 3 so the stages don't work for him very well and he just evaporates the bosses because he does too much damage with the Cyro Flash+Wheel combo since they ironically aren't built for a true melee character

Not to defend 8-4 but Inti was actually involved in that decision since it was believed western audiences wouldn't be as interested in the full story experience.

Regular Elise is just as evil and murderous as Dom Elise. She's actually the one who initiated the fight. There is no mention of experimentation either. It was implied Sumeragi took her in because she was out there murdering people before, and they noticed her powers. They also remove all the battle dialogue. That's about it. It is as bad as what they did to Zonda, and if you're an Elisefag, you should be upset:

>Elise: Sumeragi kidnapped me. They must have knocked me out... And when I woke up, I was all alone... I don't understand wh-what I did to deserve any of this!

------------

>Gunvolt: What--! I'd never seen anything like it. She was an Adept, but... There were two of her. Not "twins, twice the fun" two. She actually divided into two people.

>Zeno: Holy jitt, did she just go amoeba on you?

>Gunvolt: Sorry, can't talk. This is about to get ugly.

>Zeno: What, what is going on?

>[That's what I wanted to know.\

>Dom Elise: Free at last. I thought I'd never get out.

>The second girl turned and glared at the first.

>Dom Elise: How could you lose your memory, you stupid dolt? That is so cliche.

>Elise: I'm sorry...

>Gunvolt: That's Sumeragi gear you're wearing.

>Dom Elise: What's your point?

>Elise: I said I'm sorry!

>A split personality given physical form? Even Joule can't do that. Then, a more horrible question popped into my head.

>Gunvolt: Why are you the only one in here? Where did the personnel go?

>Dom Elise: Oh, you didn't see them on the way down? You know, the living corpses?

>Zombies? Even in a world full of Adepts, it sounded crazy.

>Dom Elise: Sumeragi wanted our power. The power of resurrection... So we gave it to them...all of them. I guess they should have been more specific.

>Elise: Our name is Elise. And you're about to be the next to un-die.

>[Elise is killed]

In terms of global visibility and real world impact (sold out toys and scalpers getting her merch, entire campaigns around her release, the need for literal items per sales restrictions on her goods), among the lineup of more than 90 Cures in its over 20 year history, she’s the most popular Precure character ever, and will probably stay that way for a very long time.

You can infer plenty from the dub script. The fact that she was down there in the facility, alone, and is wearing a patient gown is enough info. I played the 8-4 script blind and even I got that much. Nothing to suggest Elise 1 was killing people before being brought there, which is the opposite of resurrection.

Or it was a medical facility, and she was being treated for something. Or she was being tested, and they were very mild and reasonable, the type that you'd run any psychotic person with powers through. There are no lines that state that Sumeragi was responsible for creating the alternate Elises or running any other sort of brutal experiment.

In fact, the script implies that that was just Elise's natural state. There was only one line that implied that Sumeragi was responsible for the state Elise was in, and it was kind of a throwaway one that is challenged later by the psychotic nature of normal Elise:

>This twit wouldn't do as she was told, so Sumeragi gave her an attitude adjustment.

Of course, they'd want to gain control of such an individual. She's mentally unwell and powerful. Again, nothing states that Sumeragi is directly responsible for the state Elise is in.

I did a comparison. Joule and Lumen are by far the most popular. No surprise. Real Zonda is still decently popular for a character who hasn't appeared in a game for 10 years. She gets huge spikes in her art, but has lower daily interest than girls like Kirin or Lola. So Lola or Kirin may get at a maximum 1000 view spike over the past 6 months, whereas Zonda would get close to double that, but Lola and Kirin would have on average 150-300 daily views (with Lola having many spikes into 600), whereas Zonda is around 100-200 daily views.

An aspect of it I really don't like it's how in the end GV basically agrees with Viper and nobody is actually respecting Joule or Mytyl's own will. She's reduced to a bird trapped in a cage named amnesia.
And I can't even tell if the team behind that ending was aware of the implications.

>>567266464
It's mostly that most of GV's room dialogues are boring. There are a few good ones, but you have to sit through a lot of ones that really go nowhere.

Copen and ZED's home dialogues are great, however. Interesting personalities and interactions, and they give a lot of insight into the setting or lore. It's not Joule talking about classes, it's Zed talking silly anime politics and metaphysics or Nori dropping GalGun hints.

People probably like Eden too because they have the sort of crazy dialogue they'd want for conversations, where it's funny, but also a bit sad.
>>
>>567266896
Eden would probably be pretty boring if they were your team-mates. But they're too much of a cult for that. Nova's team would be more likely, and they would have terrible base convos. I don't know who GV would join up with. I don't think he'd go independent, because that would go against Morb's advice, unless INTI is going to pull a GV3 with GV4 and just ignore the ending. Then we're back to GV who is just killing everyone, which will piss off everyone again, including a lot of the people who were pissed off that GV3 swerved from GV2. It's not the direction change that pissed people, it was the swerve.

Why don't any of the bosses surrender or stand down? Seems out of character for them from the side stories.

Viper is the type to fold when beat. He was a street brawler before he joined Sumeragi. He let people surrender to him and flee, and surrendered to Nova. Merak would absolutely grovel if it meant staying alive. Carrera is a fight autist, but he's not seeking death matches. Nova does stand down in GV3, so we know it's in his character.

With Eden, it's harder to say since they're a cult, but I don't think it's in character for Teseo to fight to the bitter end. Guy just wants to make memes and funny vids. Gibril has surrendered to others in the past, but has been radicalized while in Eden. Desna might stand down depending on circumstances. Zonda would if she felt it's hopeless, and it would preserve life.

Armed Phenomena + GV killing a ton of their guys and coming at them with the intent to kill. Nobody is surrendering to GV1/2 GV. GV also finishes them off with a big special attack and doesn't accept surrender, at least in the anime.

Also, on Nova and Zonda, they're never put into the particular situations that would result in a surrender to begin with, even with a merciful GV.

Well that certainly failed, GV spent about less than a year in total with her vs supposedly years with Quinn yet what he immediately spawns as a sentient Image Pulse is a Lumen with some Joule memories, keeps being haunted about the whole thing when Serpentine searches his memories to use as fuel and then gets a Joule flashback when Zed elaborated on his plan for Moebius.
It's almost as if the writer wasn't actually convinced about the idea.

Viper would never surrender to the guy who took away his Cyan-chan, and GV wanted him dead after he revealed himself to be a pervert who likes seeing her bound to machines.
Merak's another case where GV was determined to kill because the opponent is such a bastard.
Carrera literally says "I'm satisfied" when fatally wounded so he probably just doesn't know when to surrender.

As for Eden, Teseo seems like the only one who might try to surrender or flee, but he was streaming his fight with GV and would look like a bitch if he did that.
Gibril had a suicide mode button installed that she presses in phase 3.
Desna was told by the stars to join Eden and that GV is a demon of chaos that needs to die so lol lmao.

This line from Merak was so ironic in GV3. At least Teseo still seemed like a cool guy, even if a bit cringe and a terrorist.
>>
>>567316318
That line would have made more sense from Teseo, as he didn't kill anyone in his stage and his bio says that he doesn't really have malice towards anyone. Although, he did help with trying to crash the Sumeragi drone into Sumeragi tower.
>>
>>567316517

I'm just repeating what his bio says. He might swap, but he actually likes Asroc, Zonda, and Gibril, even if Zonda is the only one that genuinely likes him back. It might be hard for him to go against his friends.

Star crossed love conquers racism. Copen can even be refashioned into princely knight in shining armor within Eden's fairy tail motif. His power armor has a knightly cut to it, and he's a scion of an elite family living in a sprawling mansion.

They're a terrorist group that was started to establish an adept only nation in worship of Zonda. Xiao says that they butchered the entire nonadept population of China before the events of GV1 and killed all the QUILL operatives who did not bow down and worship Zonda as a God.

They were evil as fuck from the start. Even if their members all have sob stories and are children, as an organization, they are way worse than Sumeragi and commit far more evil and that's why GV shows them no mercy, killing even the noncombatant children as we know from the drafts (gnits make lice).
>>

Xiao is a liar and manipulator. Eden bad, but Xiao would exaggerate their badness. There are points in GV2 where GV says there's got to be another way that doesn't involve so much death, and then Xiao swoops in to remind him how evil and fanatical Eden are, or starts juicing him up on how righteous he is, or remind him how they hurt Joule.

Why didn't Nori just safeguard it herself, the entire mansion is full of angels and demons. Is she stupid?
>>
>>567320475
We don't know, because no other options were ever explored. It could have been something as asinine as going to Sumeragi and having them break the mirror shards to release Joule, thus throwing Eden's entire plan in the rubbish bin.

In any case, killing would be unavoidable, but maybe some ways involve less of it. Maybe some ways end it more quickly and efficiently. Wars aren't typically won by killing everyone in an enemy country, or even in their military. There are many paths to victory. You can look at the Iran vs America dustup, where America tarred Iran militarily, but Iran is fucking up America and the world because it controls the Strait.

And victories come in different flavors. There are such things as a bad victory or bad peace. Everyone wants something, and you win when you can maintain control over that something. In the context of Gunvolt, victory is denying Eden the mirror shards. That might involve killing all of them, making them reconsider their goals somehow, or some outside the box thinking.

Most of it is based off the secret ending. It recontextualizes a lot of his actions.

a) Xiao knows way more than he should, about Septima, Dr. K's research, Eden, everything.

b) Xiao doesn't use GV's nickname in the JP script during the secret ending where he used it everywhere else. It's minor, but it hints he doesn't consider him to be a friend. 8-4 doesn't give a shit, so that subtle characterization is dropped.

c) Nori is extremely suspicious of him, accusing him of being evasive and just telling her what she wants to hear rather than the truth. She implies that a lot of GV2 was Xiao's manipulations. She thinks he's plotting something more:

d) This exchange:

Nori:

>To "restore" Lady Michiru and Cyan to their original unity, and awaken the power of the Cyber Diva...And then—to extract the activated Seventh Wave (Seventh) Inducer...Just what exactly are you plotting?

Xiao:
企むなんて人聞きは悪いなあ。 "電子の謡精 (サイバーディーヴァ)"は世界を変える大きすぎるチカラ...
エデンはもちろん... ガンヴォルトにだって渡すわけにはいきません

>""Plotting"—that sounds rather uncharitable. The "Cyber Diva" is a power far too immense—a force capable of changing the world...I certainly can't hand it over to Eden... nor can I entrust it to Gunvolt, either."

Xiao bringing up the possibility of handing it over to Eden and then denying it comes out of the blue for a rabid Eden hater that he purports to be. He also continues to bash GV, saying the guy cannot be trusted with the pendant, despite everything GV has done for Xiao. I like a good GV bash, but I think GV would have been the best guardian for the pendant. He would have cherished it as the last piece of Joule and never used it for bad shit.

Again, 8-4 messed the line up above. Instead of saying I can't hand it over, Xiao says " No plot! It's just... The Muse has so much power. Eden shouldn't have it. And neither should GV," which removes him as an agent in the pendant's fate.

Nothing about the secret ending shows Xiao is doing anything bad. If anything, we should praise Xiao. He was the only person in the series to wisely recognize two things, the muse had to be sealed away (which he did since GV3 didn't address it) and that Gunvolt is a fucking lunatic. Unlike Desna who attacked him Xiao just took the soft approach and removed the pendant from him. He even did it in such a way that Gunvolt still looks upon him favorably, because why be a dick? Imagine what an utter bad end things would've been if Dragonvolt had the power of Anthem on top of everything else? Nori is just mad she lost her babysitting bucks, nothing she says matters. Xiao even did her a favor by refusing enough of the septima back into Michiru that she isn't at death's door. Doing things better than even her father did by keeping her unpowered but still functional. Praise Xiao and his benevolent nothing.
>>
>>567325578

>>

We'll see if anything actually comes from this given everyone else of power implicated.
>>
>>567324519
Is GV really untrustworthy in this context?
If he wanted to rule he had plenty of chances to grab power but he keeps making power vacumms and leaving.
And if he means that someone with bad intentions would steal it from him it seems like if anyone knew and wanted to steal that they could anyway.
>>
>>567324519
The final line is a little more sinister in the JP script too, just because the sentence order is swapped:

>Nori:あなたは、 自分の目的を何ひとつも話していない...

>Xiao: すぐに判りますよ。心配しなくても大丈夫です。悪いようにはなりませんから

>Nori: ......

Nori: But this entire time, you haven't told me a single thing about your objective...

Characters and plot get discussed more than gameplay, and Gunvolt is an ongoing story, whereas all the story centric MM titles are done or dropped. The only series that we still get games for is classic, and it's all self-contained and light on writing.

Not it isn't. GV3 was the last game in the series. You're only getting iX now, and those are all self-contained with a very loose continuity, like Mega Man.

Copen doesn't have a good selection of girls to choose from like Gunvolt does all with varied, striking and fun personalities. It's pretty much just Roro(maybe) and Kohaku, and they're both the same genki archetype that spews the same energetic hype where Copen doesn't even give much of a fuck. You can hardly even tell them apart.
Zonda is the opposite extreme of Copen. We can force these two clashing powers into close proximity and maybe transform visceral hatred into passionate intimacy. if nothing else it's bound to be titillating.

The Lola that gets with her Copen ends up having a lot of Zonda parallels in iX2, even if it's just surface level stuff like gardens, voices, attack patterns, taking over loved ones, musical motifs, genocide plots, etc.
>>
>>567336324

>>
>>567336324
I think the similarities between Lola and Zonda are because both are corrupted muses. A lot of the other similarities are because iX2 is meant to be post Copen route GV2.

>>
>>567337508
You keep on repeating this argument, but this is a Copen who killed Eden, defeated GV, probably killed Mytyl as well (would explain why Lola doesn't have her muse powers). Shit happens. From Eden's defeat, Cope could have been inspired to develop the one tech that was a silver bullet to the adept problem. Killing all those people assured that he would set off on a much darker path, much like GV. People would have laughed at GV killing off humanity before the third game too.

It's appealing just for the WTF factor, opposites attract stuff. Tenjian and Gibril's reactions alone would be worth it. It's hard, because I like Lola too, and that relationship has a ton of backing in writing and side material unless iX does a Zonda/Copen friendship or something.
>>
>>567337921
What the other anon said, it simply stretches our suspension of disbelief too far. Gunvolt was already coined very early on as being the strongest EVAR thanks to the Azure Striker septima. Copen is powerless for a reason. If he had the means to just genobomb the entire world at any point, he wouldn't go around and shoot adepts in the back or take them on one by one. And if he somehow managed to do so, it would demand essentially impossible plot armor and violation of his own established power scale. It just doesn't make sense.
>>
>>567338904
Combine the right septima, get the right breakthroughs, have the right mentality, and he could make his own nuke to own the adepts. iX2 doesn't go into much detail how humanity was wiped out, only that it happened, Copen killed a bunch of nonadepts (Hail and Dacite talk about it) and Copen was the last man standing in the end. Now why would Copen have to kill nonadepts?

>But Zonda could have...
Lola had her energy balls. They killed her and the rest of Eden. Also, Copen killed humans, see the above. If Zonda were successful, humans would have been wiped out.
>>
>>567339356
What kind of girlfriend would she be towards Acura? Clingy? Sassy? Bratty? Or does she routinely swap personality types within a conversation to weird him out for fun.
>>
>>567339939

She also gets him to stop larping and actually learn religious scripture.
>>
>>567339702
They said they killed humans, not nonadepts. They could have been talking about adepts in the blurbs.
>>
>>567339702
>humans would have been wiped out
No they wouldn't.
>>
>>567339702
>If Zonda were successful, humans would have been wiped out
Maybe, possibly. She could've also sung the lifewave into completely destabilizing, somewhat akin to what is happening in GV3 and why the world is a wasteland devoid of life, and maybe that's the reason why parts of the Gravepillar looks like a huge glaive. It's Copen's attempt at fixing it.
3smart5u as he is, I doubt Copen could build anything that could realistically rival the power of Octima. You're close to godhood at that point.
>>
If you're using the argument that Copen was too weak to cause iX2, and also arguing that Zonda likely caused the situation, it's more likely that Copen killed off all humans than Zonda killed off most nonadepts and then Copen somehow beat her and her superpowered adepts.
>>
>>567340992
Just because the three octimals we've seen are a fetus that can see across dimensions and move people through time and space, a butterfly that can make thought into reality, and a chihuahua that can snap reality to nothing in an instant, doesn't mean octimals are that strong.

Empathetic, affectionate, gentle, touchy, but weird. You know, EP. Like she'd get Copen better than he gets himself, but her mannerisms or way of showing it would be strange, especially once she started taking advice from Nori and Mytyl, which you know she'd accept without question. There'd be a tendency for her to go from serene to excited/exuberant in just a few words when the topic of love comes up. It would be especially bizarre to others, as she'd do the usual creepy unemotional routine with them.

It's interesting how the cause for the dragon fetus to show up was to counter Gunvolt which in turn was caused by Sumeragi's research mostly kickstarted by Dr. Kamizono: the Takefutsu incident and earlier on extracting the Muse from his daughter, causing all the GV1 events that lead up to GV becoming unstable and needing stopping by Moebius to begin with.
In other words humanity's meddling with Septima in order to stop it ended up making things even worse long term.

I'll just add my 2 cents to go with what other's have said.
Zonda is playful by nature, I think she'd plop decently inbetween sassy and bratty. A confident brat doesn't just act difficult with anyone, she acts this way because she feels safe enough to push boundaries. And Zonda in particular could and would orchestrate situations through her playful defiance that would truly strip away his otherwise composed demeanor and make him drop his spaghetti. She'd bring him to life and drag the stoic out of his shell, forcing him to feel, react, and engage with the world rather than just observing it like a scientist.
Then you can add on top the "only you" factor that makes her feel uniquely special because she's the only one that holds the key to cracking his emotional armor.

>English translation of Pantera makes her an antichrist like figure responsible for everything, like corrupting Tenjian.
>Korean translation makes her the supreme leader and strategic planner. Overall, she is saintly, aside from ideology towards nonadepts
>Original Japanese is ambiguous, and only the side material confirms anything about her. Ironically, the Jap version ends up being the most realistic version of Pantera. She may be super intelligent, but she's still just a kid, so they don't have her masterminding everything and she's very impressionable.

INTI just can't nail down the translations. From the Korean's wiki summary of her character, because it's useful to get multiple different perspectives when a translation is in contention:

>>
>>567348545

In her true form, she is a character who speaks with a polite and courteous demeanor; she genuinely cherishes every single adept—not merely her close-knit G7 subordinates—as if they were her own family. She went so far as to personally infiltrate Japan to pilfer intelligence on Sumeragi for the sake of her comrades, and even as the G7 members fell one by one and their central stronghold was breached, her primary concern remained the hope that no further sacrifices would be made. Aside from providing various forms of support or issuing directives to her comrades, she spends her time within the heart of Belladen—Eden's sacred sanctuary—serving as a shrine maiden and offering prayers for the safety and salvation of all adepts.

Thanks to the charisma she exudes as a visionary utterly devoid of personal self-interest, the loyalty her subordinates harbor toward her is truly beyond imagination. This devotion was such that in the game's latter stages—even after the G7 had been whittled down to a single surviving member and Belladen had been breached by Gunvolt and Copen—every last soldier continued to wage a desperate, last-ditch resistance until they were ultimately annihilated. The very essence of the "love" she so frequently spoke of while in her guise as the Seven-Colored Sword refers precisely to this profound benevolence she holds for her fellow adepts.
>>
>>567348753

Although it is undeniable that—despite her youth—she is an exceptionally capable and sensible leader, virtually flawless in her role as the head of an organization, the fundamental problem lies, inevitably, in her extreme ideology. She is the very individual who established and propagated the core tenet that has taken root throughout all of Eden: "Seventh adepts are the true masters of this era, and the inferior 'Old Humanity' must be completely eradicated." Dismissing the very notion of compromise, she views non-adepts as an entirely distinct species—one locked in an existential struggle for survival against adepts—and consequently issues orders for a litany of heinous and ruthless terrorist acts, stopping at nothing to drive them out of existence. On one hand, he sympathizes with Feather’s stance—specifically their policy of generally refraining from harming nonadepts—yet he assesses that their methods are capable of saving only a minuscule fraction of adepts.

As an aside, even Tenjian—who is otherwise highly favorably disposed toward Panthera—lets out a sigh upon witnessing Panthera’s “Armed Phenomenon,” dismissing it as nothing more than a mischievous prank. Nevertheless, even after her true identity has been exposed, Panthera herself continues to play the role of a pansexual seductress whenever she transforms into her true form: a sacred sword.

Only the shitposters at this point "believe" the 8-4 characterization. We have two foreign scripts, the Japanese and Korean wikis, side material, Japanese fan responses and interpretations, 8-4's treatment of GV1 characters like Elise and Stratos, even dialogue snippets in-game that any anime fan should be able to parse to tell you that 8-4 was completely off their rocker.

More than that. The GG2 protagonist is strongly hunted at to have gone the harem route as well, but it includes Risu as well.

I love universal the love of Gibril is.
Like, every version she goes "I hate non adepts, I killed people, I like doing it, those zombies were innocent people I kidnapped and murdered" and everyone's reaction is: *plap plap plap plap* "get pregnant get pregnant get pregnant get pregnant!".
It's just too funny.
>>
>>567351640

Reminder that she was one of the adepts who became radicalized after she joined Eden and she is one of the most politically motivated members of the G7.
>>
>>567357320
I think she says they aren't innocent because they are all responsible for oppressing adepts. She's wrong of course. It's terrorist logic.
>>
Yeah, but the terrorist in this instance is cute, and therefor, players will overlook these actions.
>>
>>567359654
She still needs to atone for her crimes.
1 life made for every life taken. This is all of them, not just the ones from the mission. Her gangster days still need to be addressed.
>>
>>567357972
They're shit
>>
>>567359963
Her crimes will be judged, based on the aesthetics of those she killed; if they are ugly, or plain her actions will be overlooked, but if they were cute, she will receive spankings (dispensed by me, of course)
>>
>>567359654
But the players give death to the terrorist for her actions with their gameplay?
>>
>>567359654
They're cute and young. The main characters were also terrorists. Like GV probably has a higher kill count on innocents than some of the Eden members with the bombings he did, especially the stuff on infrastructure. The difference is that they want to stop genocide with genocide while GV doesn't. We critique GV's methods for going overboard sometimes, but Eden are like GV on meth.

>>567359382
A few atrocities will do that, especially as Gibril seems to be empathetic to adept oppression and vengeance oriented. I did not expect her to value freedom so much as an abstract concept and argue for it, however. She didn't strike me as the type.

Funny thing is that they both were really into September Record.

Also another factoid, GV banned Joule from playing online games because he's paranoid. She used her powers one time like Elise did in September Record (she misinterpreted some of GV's advice on winning) and that was enough for him to delete all of her games and monitor her activities, but Xeno snuck some games to her under GV's nose.

It's from Cutout Joule:

>数時間後、シアンは家の人 (ガンヴォルト) にネットゲーム禁止令を言い渡された旨を旗乃に伝えきっぱりとベルストから足を洗うことになった

>また余談であるが、の時の一部始終を偶然目撃した他のプレイヤーによって、伝説のラッキエルフの噂が一部で囁からていくことになるの
だが、それはまた別の話である。

>A few hours later, Ciel informed the "person of the house"—Gunvolt—that she had been handed a ban on gaming; consequently, she resolved to wash her hands of *Belst* once and for all.

>As a side note, thanks to other players who had accidentally witnessed the entire sequence of events, rumors of a "legendary Lucky Elf" would eventually begin to circulate in certain circles. But that, as they say, is another story.

Xeno sneaking her games is from another story. GV is kind of controlling and paranoid about who Joule hangs out with, but he has to be considering Sumeragi.

I wish there was a story of some poor schlub that wants to impress Juan and get his permission to date Cyan. He has to go through tons of bullshit throughout the date to earn zappy's respect. Meanwhile she's just using the guy to try and make Juan jealous. Hijinks ensue. Then flash forward towards the end of the first game and that poor bastard is leaving flowers for Cyan and Juan, thinking both of them died from terrorist shenanigans.

>If it's an adept, GV preps the Lux.
>if it's a nonadept, it's a-ok.

When you realize GV has a lot of suppressed adept racism, much of GV1 and GV2 makes sense. Despite supposedly fighting for adept rights, everyone he kills is an adept, and he feels good after killing them. He kills even very weak adepts who he'd acknowledge would be no threat, where he spares nonadepts like Copen who are massive threats, not just once, but multiple times.

In GV2, he holds adepts mostly responsible for the state of the world and the oppression they face. If they weren't so monstrous, then the nonadepts would accept them. When he encounters an unknown adept, he is instantly hostile and suspicious towards them. In a nonhostile situation, he treats nonadept kids as just kids, whereas adept kids get the cold GV treatment, like they're adults.

It's also why he acts so serious, straight-laced, and boring when almost every other adept, even Asimov, are eccentric clowns. He's constantly wishing he could be a normie without powers, and is disgusted by the 15/10 adept women throwing themselves at him (because attractiveness scales with septimal power in GV). GV3 was actually him being forced to get over his adept hatred and accept his adeptness.
