Ah, Earth Dancer! Your dance has brought me joy and happiness. In gratitude, allow me to bestow upon you this recipe.
There appears to be a correlation between microtransaction and tolerance towards conflicts of interest.I'm sure it's going to be a very useful finding in 5 to 10 years when it finally gets published. Who am I kidding? It's gonna get 5 citations because it's not a noble topic despite 1/4 person in the 20 to 40 range being a regular player.Truly the one question I have is chicken or the egg? Did microtransaction shape culture into accepting clear conflicts of interest as not being that bad or was it the opposite or maybe something else shaped our culture into accepting both. I suppose we'll never know.
>>567376487Certain humans are inherently susceptible to gambling addiction, even at great personal expense, even when the game is clearly so out of their favor that it is obviously just giving the house money for nothing. It is exploiting human nature and biochemistry. It is the fool and his money, trying to put a stop to it is as foolish as the fool himself. Not just that, it is also the rightful course of action to let it go on, as the fool does not deserve to keep his money if he will so flippantly part with it.The fool deserves to be poor, some of his lost money may end up in the hands of someone who will actually make good use of it.

Fire emblem as a series fucking sucks, the gameplay is bad, the story are boring, the writing is forgettable, the character design sucks, the localization sucks truly fucking bad and basically the only good thing that ever came out of this shitty franchise is Nowi. I like Nowi's design. She's poorly written and one dimensional tho.Sorry. I just felt like ranting about how much I hate fire emblem but really want to fuck a 1000yo dragon loli.

You know what I miss? Picking up random completely blind as a kid. You just walked into a store (the supermarket my mom always went to had a small video game section) and you'd just pick a random CD based on the cover. Now you have big backlogs, limited time and the internet so taking the risk on some random game you've never heard of doesn't seem worth it when you have so much to play and so little time. Plus many game you do play "blind" are still based on the recommendation of a friend or seeing something online that intrigued you so you still have at least a vague concept of what the game is like. That thought just came to me when I saw a game that looked vaguely interesting in the Steam Ocean sale whatever and I'm thinking of just picking that up on a whim and finding out what it's like without looking into it.

Plus the tutorial was Sid Meier having his little face in the corner of the screen, telling you how to play in English with translated subtitles and I wasn't a good reader yet.

SCP Containment Breach is a surprising game, I died in the first randomly generated room, and my friend died in the intro. In the slifhtly over an hour play session, we died 36 times and 173 killed us 27 times. What do you do when the enemies are immune to confused and what's your notdie2dudes strat when things aren't 100% ideal? So I just finished Dead Wells: the devil fragment, and it was a game to say the least. Nothing ground breaking, but it has this sweet indie jank that you know is the result of 1 or 2 dev going into a project that ended bigger than they expected, but its actually consistent from start to end in term of quality. The weirdest detail tho is the unorthodox combat, where breaking an enemy "stance" cause them to bounce in the air, whence you can punch them higher into the roof for additional damage, basically juggling enemies to death. I was also shocked by the quantity of weapons, at least 30 or so, each with their own gimmick or feature, with like 20 special skills that act like magic powers, and customizable horses for some reasons, which are super janky. You can tell they are self aware about it too because the dev like to put horse spawns at the most random places ie deadend of a cave you had to crawl into.

Sadly AI vibe coding has enabled any fucker to throw together a basic "incremental game", so all they have to do is copy what already exists, and just change the theme. Sometimes it's Ore, sometimes it's space coffee, sometimes it's trees, sometimes it's souls for a ritual. But it's always more or less the same game.

>>567532472That sounds like a really fun idea for a game actually, if done well.
>>567533304>Is that political?Evidently it is in korea.
>>567534147I assume it's fun for people who enjoy fighting RNG. Never really got to the point of enjoying it besides the one time I played it with my dad and experienced him lose to dice that seemingly had a personal vendetta against him.
>>567533397Having never played FF XIV myself, I'd wager a guess that it's the same situation as pretty much all these other ones: people projecting their own experiences and viewpoints on the media rather than actually looking at the media. In my example, wetsuits were (are?) apparently a common way to censor sexualized designs in Korea, so people there have a stronger reaction to them and associate the use with radfems. Whereas everywhere else people are just confused about what the fuck they're going on about. I doubt anyone at PM decided "let's cover up this girl in a wetsuit to taunt the Koreans", but that's how it was perceived. The artist they ended up firing didn't even work on the character that people got mad about, and she was only singled out for old retweets before she ever started working at the company. I think a similar thing happens in other cases, where certain groups act in certain ways because of their own experience, but when you zoom out a bit, those actions are bizarre.
>>567533982Bloodbowl doesn't let you customize the dice, some player skills let you reroll or treat certain results differently but the dice remain the same (for block dice: two arrow results, one defender down, one defender down unless they have dodge, one both players down unless they have block, one attacker down skull. for other dice its a basic d6 or 2d6 like for armor break rolls)>>567534147pretty good, actually, BB2 is currently cheapest with the most content (somehow) but the balance is a few updates behind the IRL version, though that doesn't matter much as the important thing is how you upgrade the team, not which one starts off the best. just be mindful of the turnovers and how they force any optimization-minded player to stop having fun and do things on a tight schedule of least likely to turnover to most likely to turnover.
>>567534331So you can acknowledge that "political" can vary across borders, it's not a huge leap to see that "political" can vary across demographics too. If you have no issue with Koreans calling something political, why would you have issue with X or Y group calling something political even when you don't consider it to be?
>>567534636Now that worries me, I hate RNG.>>567534720What's a turnover?

>>567534701>The artist they ended up firing didn't even work on the character that people got mad about, and she was only singled out for old retweets before she ever started working at the companyWow, that's horrible.
>>567534897>why would you have issue with X or Y group calling something political even when you don't consider it to be?Because it is simply the case that not literally everything will be a political issue.
https://youtu.be/l4i51b8ZS-4?t=83
>>567533397>>567534701That is because Wuk Lamat, in the NA release, is voiced by a transsexual who is a big internet archivist. Somehow that means Wuk Lamat and the entire game are bad too.
>>567535514You (presumably) didn't know about the controversy I talked about beforehand and wouldn't have considered it a political issue. Why are you so sure that the topic you're thinking about now can't be political? The LC devs didn't think their decisions were political, but a part of their audience disagreed. Maybe you don't think a particular game is political, but maybe a part of your "audience" disagrees. You're not going to find a single definition that encompasses every different person's viewpoint, so how can you say for sure something is or isn't political?
>>567534981>>What's a turnover?in foobawl, when you fail to advance 10 yards within 4 downs your opponents pick up the ball with scrimmage at exactly the yard line you were at. Bloodbowl doesnt have yard lines but it does have a lot of scrimmage, so they changed the rule in the adaptation from sport to tabletop.Basically, when one of your players fucks up on a die roll (fail to grab/toss/catch the ball, get KO'd when they're the ones blocking, fail to dodge out of the opps tackle zone, and fail the 1/6 chance "Go for it" roll to move an extra square), your entire turn is over. So if you fail on first action of the turn, well tough shit you aint got the rest of a turn anymore. Sure, you can try to burn a team reroll to try the dice again, but if you were doing something improbable it won't really save you. This mechanic in theory forces coaches to think about positioning and turn order, and in practice I sometimes found it annoying and sometimes my opponents found it annoying so i guess it balances out? i'm by no means good at the game or super into it but i can see the appeal. I'm making a note of it because the BB2 videogame tutorial doesn't have turnovers turned on in the first few matches, so it teaches you wrong, presumably as a joke.

Worst part of this game is the inventory/encumbrance. Keep in mind the gameplay loop is survivalcraft. You're going out and gathering raw resources to craft and refine into new resources a lot. The game limits you to 20 items. Not 20 per stack, not 20kg, just 20 items. Doesn't matter if its a log or a blueberry, you're only carrying 20 unless you're prepared to walk the most boring and painfully long 200m of your life. I know what you're thinking, "But, Anon, you've got the van. Just drive it to where you're collecting resources and dump them in it." But there's a lot of areas that are foot traffic only, and there are a lot of resources there. So, you're stuck running back and forth a bunch of time or making another hellwalk. Shit sucks.
>>567536462Because you're never ever ever ever going to find someone that sees some random cup of liquid in the background visible for three frames and thinks it's a political decision that the cup contained exactly as much liquid as it did. There are things in games that have never been viewed as political and never will be because they have no connection to any current or future contentious social topics anywhere, and saying "but they might be political to someone somewhere someday" is like saying "an actual living real life unicorn might materialize in earth's orbit one day".Even aside from the fact that not literally everything can be a political topic, I assume you would know I'm mainly referring to the broader digital culture we interact with due to existing within every day, and not what people are talking about in chinese society or whatever that has next to zero crossover with broader western english speaking digital society.

PM games also never appealed to coomers like other gacha games, they had a distinctive artstyle with mostly respectable, non coomer designs, and they had a good balance of male and female characters, very different of the 100% generic anime waifubait shit that is the norm with these games. PM had made a summer event that was almost a satire of the summer event of others games: the characters had to fight trash monsters on a polluted beach. While other games were getting their waifus in lewd cash bait bikinis and sunny beaches, PM had THE waifubait character of their game in that black diving suit. There was protests in korea, they even hired trucks with signs to stand before the company building. Game was review bombed on steam. Really wild. Its really a shame they became a gacha company.
>>567568286I'm a bit confused as to why the pinch gesture is rude in Korea. Something about penis size?

>>567568651Its probably better if you just read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MegaliaI am not an expert in these matters (I am not from there, I just played some games), but it seems it started as a way to mock penis size and got linked to hate groups/hate movements, so it became about more than that.
>>567568234Yeah. I'm only about an hour in.
>>567569349>In December 2015, moderators on Megalian.com banned homophobic posts that targeted gay men. How's Mortal Sin? Watched a video about it, Pirate looks fun.
>>567569682>how do you go from this to thatWhat's the difference, really? Both are obsessive behaviors likely arising from similar developmental issues. But in Worst Korea's context, it's all just misandry taken to bizarre extremes. They have somehow driven themselves into even more insanely divided state than Burgeristan.
>>567570896It's possible? Burgeristan legit has people defend a pedophile, just to "own the libs".Blah, let's just stop here, this stupidity is going to give me a headache. So, about Mortal Sin, should I try it? I'm more of a FPS shooter, and Borderlands 2 was the only FPS/RPG game I played, and it was shit.
Alright, so let me recap some of the free remakes floating around:>Rayman RedemptionPC port/remake of Rayman, with more world, more story, and unlimited lives.>Timesplitters RewindPC remake of Timesplitters, the Gamecube game, currently in early access with just TS1's levels available.Anything else?Underspace doesn't count, it's not free, and it's not a remake. Even if it's Freelancer but vastly improved.
>>567572265>Even if it's Freelancer but vastly improved. But it's not Freelancer. Improvement is debatable too.If your standards are that loose, you might as well count Endless Sky and naev as Escape Velocity "remakes".
>>567572591Well, Underspace works on my PC, and Freelancer doesn't, so if you don't consider that an improvement, I don't know what to tell you.
>>567572265Manic Miners, a remake of the Win98 game Rock Raiders
>>567572789No no, that's exactly what's a high priority for me. Games that actually work.See, Freelancer has worked on every single computer I've played it on for decades now. Friends' computers. Operating systems from I don't even remember, 98 or ME? to 11. Local multiplayer worked flawlessly. Mods and servers, everything just works. There's a dedicated, smart community taking good care of the game long after its official master servers closed.Underspace, however, doesn't. Turns out games made by big companies actually work and stand the test of the time, whereas indie unity slop has a good chance of not working right even during its heyday in its intended software environment.
>>567573464Lucky you, it's the opposite for me. Rise of Legends, Freelancer, none of these games work on my PC.I had to pirate Rise of Legends to get it to work, because otherwise it'd try to update, fail to contact the server, crash, and uninstall itself.
>>567570757I've only played for a couple hours but it's fun. Great art. Don't get it if you don't like combo games.
>>567574441"Combo games"? What do you mean?
>>567522182Heh, welcome to the club... Maybe one day the devs will get the memo before ending up bankrupt or working for China.
>>567574514Games that rely on doing combos to get the most out of them and be effective on combat. Think Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden.
>>567575357Never played any of these, but I think I remember a doom wad that worked like that, you had to alternate left clicks and right clicks for special attacks.
>>567575482In Mortal Sin you have different moves. Attack, dash, kick, special. There are different moves that can only be made by chaining those together into combos. If you just attack attack attack it'll eventually become ineffective. So you want to keep moving and chaining combos to get your score up and to do more damage. It's fun so far. I fucking suck at it.
>>567572591>Improvement is debatable too. It's definitely an improvement by the simple fact that it has manual docking and a ship garage.
>>567576193I literally never docked inside, in Underspace.
>>567576634Yeah. It's way smoother then having to wait for the autopilot, especially in most FL mods where the stations are too big.
What's a game that gives a serious sense of isolation?
>>567577461Alien Isolation
>>567576193Freelancer's problem is that it's insanely basic and you start to realize it after a while.
>>567577585Played it to death and got the platinum. Great game. Can't believe they're making a sequel.
>>567573015Is this like a lego mod for Dawn of War or something? Cute.
>>567578021Nah it's a resource gathering game. Not much combat and mostly focused on building basis and mining. It has a neat feature where you can take control of individual units in first person, and also where your miners can be leveled up and trained and they retain those skills between missions.
>>567578021>remake of the Win98 game>mod for Dawn of Warbruh
>>567577724It's got as much variety as your average ubisoft game.
>>567570534>Congrats, you can now play as a hobbo.I mainly did it for the skins lol, but I clearly misunderstood the reward. Here I thought it meant you guaranteed get a skin for every new encounter, when in reality it was just 100% better than the original pitiful drop rate. Now I'm considering what to do next. Either I get into a new game, or I go on an autistic Dumpling catching quest, and then make an optimized Dumpling team. Or maybe even both.
>>567578873Are you saying that's like it's a good thing or a bad thing?

>>567579553Honestly if it had come out 10 years later it'd be a hit.
asking about Hollow KnightI got to the part where I could "challenge" a trio but only fought against one of them, after I died and was on the runback, an NPC appeared and told me I should go some place and upgrade my nailbut I think I've checked everywhere that I can so far?I forgot what the NPC told methis is a bit after the mantis village

>>567580870its been years, but have you explored the city of tears yet? from what I remember there is a house to the west of the city of tears. Go down to the bottom, to the streets and then left, in the direction of the fungal wastes, or something like that. I don't remember if you need to defeat the mantis village boss to get there, I assume not.
>>567576948No, I mean. The dock hitbox is bigger than the hangar, so you can dock by flying too close.
>>567583573That was the case in FL in mods too, since it wouldn't distinguish between mooring points and docking points.
>>567586374FL had mods?
>>567587894Freelancer had tons of mods.
>>567588039Last time it worked on my computer was before we had internet.
>>567588237There were a lot of mods. There's an HD mod now, a really good star wars mod that ended up shutting down, and then a big autistic roleplaying one. It's still really limited in what you can add though. There's like a Russian one that pushes it to its limits and it's still fairly basic.
>>567587894>>567588039Correction: It HAS mods, even active servers to this day.

>>567591764That trajectory predictor is kinda neat. I've never seen that UI package, I guess the game has gotten some new content since I last played ages ago.
Chinatown wars was one of the best gta game and the only bad thing about it is ironically the story and cutscenes. The drug dealing side activity was fun if a bit simple, the game only required you to get bronze medals to get 100% and gold medals were there simply for the challenge and some small rewards in some activities.
>>567592086it's a performance autopilot package with all the thruster optimizations and FBW. the only thing its really missing is the firing solution display, otherwide it would've easily been the best in the game

>>567593130actually quite useful for modding because burst is black bytecode sorcery
>>567593252What for? It's just a debug file with some info about the developer's environment like compiler flags and file paths.I'm not a modder but as far as I can tell none of that matters. You can just read and edit the game assembly with dnspy with usual. All symbols are present too. Patching it with bepinex/harmony should work too right?
Giving nitro gen omega a try. Animations and art style are charming enough but I'm not 100% sold on the timeline style battle system yet. I assume once I actually start fighting harder enemies and getting more parts/skills that I'll have a hell of a lot less dead turns for some of my crewmembers. >>567594432>>567599594Considering the devs are european and self-describe the art-style as anime/shonen anime I get the feeling it contributed to the artstyle at least somewhat. Granted everyone in the game uses the same character creator so it also helps keep all characters' ages ambiguously young. Which is nice when the NPCs in town are all doom and gloom telling you about how their wife and kids got blown up by a cannon and then 5 min later your crew is bonding over karaoke and DDR
>>567591764Zipping through he belts at max speeds is so fun honestly, especially when the you're-going-fast music kicks in.I remember saving money by having myself being shot into the outer ring and then fly halfway through it by myself debatable if the money I saved on the launch wasn't lost on fuel, but it was fun and that's what matters
>>567580870>>567582373You need a movement upgrade to get to the city, but I'm pretty sure you get it before fighting the mantis boss.

>>567609052Don't care about what some megacorp puppet is doing.
>>567606925I find a lot of the negative Steam reviews don't address the game itself. Half the time it seems the complaints are regarding difficulty. I saw one the other day where the reviewer was bitching about that new cruise ship virus.
Imagine a game where you play as a skeleton. You start small, maybe you're unearthed by graverobbers or maybe you dig yourself free somehow after your coffin gets struck by lightning or an earthquake or something. You want revenge? Against whom? Who cares? As you continue you can defeat other skeletons (?) and gain their bones. This shin bone might give kick strength, or the new skull plate might make it so you can use your head to bash open locks instead of picking them. There is a fucking killer soundtrack and you can headbang clackclackclack right along to it. What's the gameplay like?
Help, I have the Dutch colony music stuck in my head on repeat.
>>567612731Also you can't speak, only that rasping "rrrhhhhhh" that skeletons do (think the Morrowind skeleton sound). There have to be powerups obviously. Maybe your golden coins are calcium supplements or something. The levels are varied but also some wacky ones. Graveyard (obviously), amusement park, tar pits, gemstone mines. And all the while you're meeting NPCs that don't seem to understand you're a skeleton and are talking your ear off (lol), all the while you're standing there like a mute unable to say anything. The weapons have to be cool, probably some melee ones and up and up until you are toting around a cannon off a pirate ship or something. I don't know if you can jump or not. But the boss fights could be stuff that plagued you in your life before your death (whatever happened there), and game has to have a good bit of difficulty because a skeleton really doesn't have much strength obviously, at least in the beginning. Ideas?
>>567612731>What's the gameplay like?Very barebones.
>>567614135
>>567612731all limbs have health but there is no way to heal and are expected to extract killed enemy bones and hotswap them as needed, bones from different enemy have different stats and attack? It sounds like a mess to design and make, but my uncreative ass can't come up with any other way to make being a skeletons matter, and it's probably already been done with robots
>>567614135You will be the first poor soul our PC takes revenge on. What bone will he claim from you, I wonder? (Don't say it.) Another point of contention: should a skeleton have access to magic? Maybe there should be a class system. Obviously skeletons can become liches with enough training (how much?), but what are some other cool classes? Berserker, Pirate/Swashbuckler, Public Nuisance, Seer?>>567615890Interesting! Could be that as you lose (or gain) bones it changes the gameplay. If you get decapitated you can't rasp/clack anymore, one leg means you hop along (peg leg?), missing ribs you are less susceptible to attack (less surface area)?
>>567606925This >>567611289, but also for positive reviews. I found a lot of games with overwhelmingly positive rating despite being complete dogshit. EA games with zero content praised for their potential or their art style or political agenda or just reviewers thinking they are funny.Ultimately you should always read the reviews, both good and bad, before deciding on a game.
New Exanima update
This morning I saw people from my country argue that "maho shojo ni akogarete" and "made in abyss" were cp and should be banned from our country. I don't know why this time it struck a nerve. I'm not angry or annoyed but instead I feel some kind of dread. Like a very profound personal attack. Not sure why, I don't even watch either of them. I know it's stupid and unimportant, but this has been on the back of my mind the entire day and I needed to let it out.

>>567629240Hard to say. I played it on release, had fun, but never finished. The idea is nice and upgrading the car is fun. I couldn't care less for the stories and characters (they're only voices on your radio which might even be for the better) but they felt easy to ignore.Even though it has some in game justification, I wasn't a fan of the maps being randomly generated. Some of the story locations seem to be handcrafted for the most part and those were my favorites. Also the radio music is a good time

>>567650331>people back in the day were not exaggerating about that shitty endingI still haven't seen it, because I remember there was some shitty tie in with the multiplayer which was surprisingly fun to play, actually ...god the era where everything needed a shitty multiplayer bolted on was weird something along the lines of you wanting to max out the multiplayer meter before doing the ending? I can't recall. So I started playing multiplayer until I lost interest in the game and never finished it.Maybe I should...play the games back to back maybe
>>567650331>I try not to really look into new stuff or review scoresAlso I'm totally with you. I'm a bit of an anti-spoiler radical. Everything counts as spoiler to me I remember being even worse as a teenager, where I got genuinely upset at someone, when they told me the name of a character for example and I want to go in as blind as possible. But as you said it's not quite the same, you still have some concept of what the game is through tags or hearsay ...and probably just being exposed to more games. Playing your very first RTS or RPG just hits different when you have no prior knowledge of the genre even existing.
>>567537936I replayed Escape Velocity Nova, last time was at least 20 years ago. I'd say it's still pretty decent. Surprisingly there's still some kind of community. >>567652051It apparently used to lock you out of one or two of the ending variations unless you played the multiplayer to gain enough war assets but they fixed it for the recent collected release. I am going to level with you though. They all suck. In a lot of ways the endings you have to unlock are some of the worst ones.Still while each game has their weird eccentricities the trilogy itself is pretty damn great until the last twenty minutes.
>>567652051You didn't actually need multiplayer to get all the endings. If I remember right you had to build up your military power for the final battle and multiplayer contributed to that. You could do it purely in single player, but you had to do (almost?) all the side quests.
>>567660106They didn't give you enough to get the happier variation of the destroy ending without multiplayer in the original release.

>>567636934Managed to buy some nigs, will be able to super easily trade this lot for several hundred Doubloons.>>567653752Yeah, you basically start the game without even a ship or the funds to buy one, you spend the tutorial running around the starting island doing odd jobs so you can afford the deposit (not full payment, unless you do really well) for a basic bitch Sloop to get started with. It's fun.
>>567669175Cyberpunk, like every single Bethesda game. Remember the disaster that was... I mean like, multiple assassin's creeds? Remember how half these big company games you can't play anymore because they shut the servers down?Freelancer, his example, didn't even work on Windows for the longest time. It's only Windows 10 and later that you can play it without issue. It wouldn't even work normally because Microsoft shut the servers down and the fans managed to mod in a replacement.
>>567669175I mean, yeah? I don't know how bad AAA is these days but indies are nowhere near 00s AAA games in terms of software engineering quality.Doesn't matter if it's the latest 2026 noname unity slop or 1996 vogelware, indies from any era are generally poorly put together. There are very few exceptions to this, but they tend to be amazing like Factorio.
>>567672034>I don't know how bad AAA is these dayYeah that much is fucking obvious. Also AAA games back in the oughts had a lot of problems, you've just generally forgotten about all of them because you only remember the handful of good ones.
>>567672224>you only remember the handful of good ones. And I'm comparing them to the handful of good indie ones. But no, I do remember the software engineering related problems better than you think. It's always been a close topic for me. But the thing is, the worst of them can be summarized with one word: DRM. I can't fault the game programmers for that.Remember safedisc? Probably the worst malware any of us ever had on our computers.
>go for a walk>come back>see thisThe devs might need to fix their game so this doesn't ever happen. I'm on turbo mode and everything too. There needs to be a command to skip to the end of a sequence when a combo has obviously gone on long enough. Like 15 loops? Ok, you can hit the magic command to resolve this. It's still going as a type BTW.
>>567673085Remember Spore? Remember fucking Blinx the Time Sweeper that was supposed to launch Xbox's mascot series shit?

>>567631002Option 1 is literally the bannerlord warhammer fantasy mod, if you play as a vampire count/sylvanian. It was very promising back when I tried it a year or so ago, iirc dwarf and their holds were to be the next adidition. It was nice, had working magic system (which is broken af and fun to use) and you can even work as a soldier if you want to roleplay a lowly skeleton or a subservient wight king, and the factions ai arent super retarded when it come to sieging ie they will try to gain enemy castles and town near their border rather than taking a random one weeks of travel into enemy territory.

Don't know anywhere else to discuss it, since I imagine any other site would be irritating, but I finished playing In Stars and Time today. It was overall a good experience, even with how pozzed it was. I felt most of that shit could be overlooked by the actual personalities of the characters being in the forefront, and some of it basically just being engrained in the culture and world-building of the game. Wouldn't blame anyone for finding it irritating though. Liked basically the entire cast (and wanted to bang Odile), and thought the story was great, even though I feel it was easy to figure out the mystery and understand where things were going
>>567681152>We need [trashy open world slop RPG] to come out and mog all these trashy open world slop RPGs.Uh huh.
>>567683469The only one I wanted to bang was Siffrin. Also, I get you, I wanted to check the game myself, but the use of pronouns just turned me away. So, there's this game, it's a weird mix between a Survivors-like, and a rougelite. Very, very lite, since it takes from Streets of Rogue/Risk of Rain with a meta progression. You play as a demilich who was betrayed by his body (don't ask), and you try to escape from what is basically a Tzimiscze summer camp.
Annoying enough, it rewards putting all your eggs in the same basket, instead of using diversity, since if you have enough units of a certain style, you unlock an "oath", with different bonuses.I get going specialist is on par with roguelikes, but my natural instinct is to be as versatile as possible, and this game challenges me.
>>567674406I could never decide if I wanted to build one jack of all trades car, or have a bunch of spare parts that I would put on and off, especially for the damage resistances.Hell, maybe I should spin that game up again. also I played it during a rather emotionally devastating moment of my life so I'm afraid if it will bring back memories

>>567737694Gotta love those kind of arbitrary moral grandstanding, it show how shallow the devs take on things are and they never really bothered to think about how to seamlessly integrate it into the gameplay, instead it feel tacked on half haphazardly. You can tell the groundwork was already done when they started to implement these elements, and that the feeding mechanics were baked into the code too deep to be changed (or they didnt care enough to actually check what it would change from a gameplay perspective), causing the hilarious situation we now have. Where hurting a fish directly is immoral, yet sticking the same fish into a molecular blender to make a plastic bottle filled with water is considered acceptable.Make me want to get the game just to see if there is more of such things, and if its as bad as below zero. By that I dont mean the game inherently suck in term of gameplay (its basically the same as the first one), but the production process was all over the place and the entire original storyline was abandoned 3/4 of the way, with the Al-an side stuff becoming the main piece, and why your sister become barely relevant as time goes on (main plot was about finding the truth about what happened, and as more plot was added over time it became apparent her sister was in the wrong the entire time, so the devs writer couldnt really spin it in a positive way, notwithstanding peoples were critical of the narrative driven storyline since the first moment it was revealed as it clashed with the original game more immersive gameplay and story being told via environmental story telling). Is the second game story just as all over the place, or did the devs learn from their mistakes?
Time for another episode of "Does Any Game Fit This Extremely Specific Criteria?":>horror>adventure style game with puzzles (think RE puzzles but actually tough, if possible)>graphics don't matter (retro, modern, whatever)>first or third person, doesn't matter>not open world>not roguelite/like (have too many to play already)
>>567742991sorry we're closed, maybe
>>567742768I have not played through enough of the game and examined the text logs closely enough to judge the quality of the story. I don't know if enough of the game is done to do that in the first place.I do know that the in-game reason you aren't allowed to fabricate weapons is because "colonists mostly use weapons against other people", but the colonists end up making their own weapons and using them on each other anyway, so I'm not sure what the message regarding weapons is supposed to be at this point. It doesn't seem like they're trying to imply controlling weapons is pointless, but I'm not sure they would imply everyone then needs to live under complete totalitarian control that has total surveillance at all times to prevent such incidents.

I am the official beta tester amongst other things for this game. It has a Kickstarter going on now, if you could help share it anywhere you think it might actually see any success, I'd really appreciate it since I really like my job and I don't want to lose it, which I might if this doesn't succeed. It is releasing on Steam for PC first, later it will be on Android and Apple phones and tablets. If it does well enough, it may also be ported to consoles like Nintendo Switch. We would also greatly appreciate it if you would wishlist it on Steam and consider leaving a review.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiHRuj4OpBY
