Completely genuinely, as a tourist who didn't play it (the only thing I know about Destiny is Cayde and the Traveler): what did they fuck up so bad? D2 players don't act like WoW players where the game is some-ups-but-mostly-downs, they act like the game has been chain-raped every patch since launch.Was it too grindy? Were the raids bad? Was the story bad? WoW's worst expansion was Shadowlands and even that gets some devil's advocates (great raids). D2 doesn't even manage that, the only positive thing I've heard about D2 in years is that Final Shape wasn't as nightmarishly bad as Lightfall.

Bungie delayed TFS as a hail mary intents to sort of rejuvenate the game, pump more interest and its year had some of the biggest drop offs and in record time, so it kinda failed in that regard. You also have all those murmurs and rumors how TFS original form was set to be a little more dry than what we got, Prismatic wasn't going to be a thing we took off Pale Heart, no Dual Destiny, no class items, SE wasn't going to have Verity, etc. Fucking Tranno was skipping out on GCX 2024 because he didnt want to get an earfull from people who hated TFS and he went on record in retrospective videos he thought TFS wasn't going to do well.
