Lgbt people and overly online women hate Notch but they still play his game.
The same women that would insult you and try to get you removed from your job for a trans joke still monetarily support jk rowling.

Its all a joke, none of the e-shit matters, as long as your product is good.
The idea that it does matter, is a psyop so that companies pay for image managers.

This is cool but you may want to first fix the gun clipping thru her rib and boob (around 9 or 10 seconds in webm) because it's very noticable.
Also, based on my own observations your game will get significantly more engagement if you make the female character White/pale skinned with red hair. Not just on Aggy, either. I can't definitively say why, but try a simple texture swap to make your character a red head with blue or green eyes and a conservative amount of freckles, then compare the engagement you get to before.

my trick is to spend a few hours of my day fully enjoying being lazy and undisciplined playing video games and scrolling social media, then i remind myself i'd lose this opportunity and have to work full time again if my game flops, and then i find the motivation to work hard
you can't spend every waking hour making meaningful productivity, gazing into the horrors of failure will give you all the motivation you need to be locked in for as many hours as you need to reach the point of cognitive decline and be fully content that your day was well spent
the discipline isn't actually applied when i'm working, it's applied when i shift from being a degenerate to focusing on what will happen when i fail, it's hard to summon the strength to think about the direct consqeuence of failure

>>
>>568453498
this is unironically caused by 996 culture, creative pursuits like game development benefit most from strategic analysis of what makes a game good, not rote toil of various technical tasks
if you want to make a good game you will eventually need to summon the mental strength required to think deeply about what makes your game enjoyable

I think he's just slightly annoyed people keep telling him to go indie. Which he doesn't want to do because his whole career has been working on larger scaled games, at least post fallout 1. So he sees no real reason to do that, and this video seems like a reminder that most indie games are low effort slop. And he's right. Now if you want to turn that judgmental eye on him, that's fair. I've personally not been a fan of his games. But I'm also not a DnD player and prefer action RPG's. I think his team in the past really struggled with UI and focus as well.

gaming is a space uniquely suited to apex scammers. you can fake nearly everything right up to the point of a person playing your game and finding out it's shit. indians all dream of making commercials and tiktok sizzle reels for some clash of clans clone and randomly going viral, and it really really shows through in this general's obvious tastes. ai tools make it really, really fucking easy to generate a bunch of noise around some shovelware slop and snooker some other, probably slightly more indian, retards into paying to play.

there really is no point dude. this hobby is retarded. if someone has a burning vision in their head that won't leave and they are totally fine knuckling under for literally 15 years like the Kenshi guy, and that person is happy ending up with a Kenshi-tier game, yes, the hobby is worth pursuing. but the average person in this thread seems like they want to bang the thing out in less than 3 months and then go mega viral off of some crappy piece of shovelware. that is pretty much the space for "hobbyists," and i know everyone is going to try and make an argument for why THEY are the "purists," but nobody will show you their game, lmao. indie gaming is just a bunch of 3rd world strivers hoping the free tier of chat gpt can collate some free itch assets into a game that something someting then they can escape little mumbai (india) for big mumbai (canada).

it's due to all the nodevs who failed, most of them never having even tried to make a game they quit before they started and they couldn't deal with their own failure which led to them becoming deranged posters who can't let this thread go

they don't make games, they have no gamedev experience and have nothing relevant to add to any gamedev discussion which is why they shitpost and derail the thread at every opportunity

as time went on they became a larger and larger portion of the posters here

There are basically two major events that killed the thread. The first is the death of the recap, which basically encouraged social interaction and showing off progress with gamification elements. Honestly, it’s pretty obvious why someone with real talent or ambition wouldn’t bother sticking around here, especially when the scene is filled with endless noise, cliques, and people more interested in circlejerking than actually building something meaningful. If you’re wasting your time on Reddit, Discord, or these echo chambers instead of treating game development like a legit business, then you’re just spinning your wheels, waiting for some miracle that isn’t coming. The fact is, true merit gets noticed outside this mess, in the real world, where people actually see your work and want to support it. Instead, most of these communities are just echo chambers where nobody really pushes forward, just regurgitating the same tired memes and crying about “crunch” while doing nothing but cluttering the space with their mediocrity. If you genuinely had talent, you’d be showcasing your game, building your own community, and making moves that matter, but most here are just stuck in a cycle of self-delusion, waiting for validation that’ll never come.

That's just not true. They're still being made they just sit in their little niche hole. Not the same as linear platformer. There's more to the game than just jumping on guys and clearing stages.
There is no equivalent of what Metroidvania is for RTS and if there was one all the old fart RTS grognards would shit on it and the normies would see that and not buy it either.
The biggest problem with RTS is it doesn't appeal to normie gamers (Imagine Dorito pope announcing an RTS as the highlight of the game awards like he did for Highguard lmao) and the people who it does appeal to drag it down just like milsim fags drag down milsims and movement shooter fags drag down movement shooters.

The RTS games being made are just lesser versions of StarCraft and Age of Empires. They don't even try to be great.
>>568472854
Exactly. You keep the concept. Control units, simulate war. Leave the rest. Every RTS I see is a giant pile of shit compares to Starcraft or Age of Empires. Including the new Age of Empires. They had cool cutscenes, but gameplay wise it was stupid.
>>
>>568473147
For me personally mechs and scifi are not my thing so that will disqualify it immediately. I think people wanted to like Stormgate but it was terrible in every sense. The most mechanically complete RTS in my mind is BAR, I'm an avid Total War Warhammer 3 enjoyer and it's almost entirely for aesthetic reasons. Even if you don't have a hueg mega IP or legacy to rely on you can still make something RTS like, Age of Darkness was a pretty good game and Cataclismo as well.
>>
I love playing old RTS games and hate playing new ones. I liked the janky pathfinding. I liked playing campaign mode only. I liked making custom scenarios in the map editor.
When I heard there was a Warcraft 2 clone coming out (The scouring I think it's called) I was sorely disappointed to find that it's a Warcraft 3 looking 3d competitive multiplayer slop.
I just want units that lock onto tiles, and campaign missions with novelty items like a hero I have to babysit. I don't want to play online. I don't want to watch fags play a videogame in a stadium. I just want to build my base and watch the little people explode when they die.
>>
>>568473248
So don't have 1v1? That's one problem solved. 1v1 in many ways ruined the genre because it ruined what the genre was meant to be. Badass war sims became 1 drone vs 1 drone at 30 seconds into the game. It's retarded.

>>568473896
People keep claiming RTS is dead because it's stale/unchanging but there's loads of genres like that, which are all really popular genre staples. It's deeper than just not being innovative enough. There's simply not enough people who find it interesting. You could have a ground breaking new innovative RTS come out and there would be crickets. I think the only thing that could even attempt to intice people to be interested in RTS even somewhat again is a new Starcraft.
>>
>>568474082
Nice, I'll check it out when I'm released from the wage cage.
From looking at the steam page, this game looks 3d with a fixed camera and not tile locked.
I think a lot of the gameplay quirks and charm of older RTS games comes from the deterministic, tile locked movement. In 3d, things are too fluid.
There are other more obscure quirks that people never try to copy, for example, Starcraft cloners will try to introduce mutalisk style stacking for air units but omit the octagonal unit attack ranges in exchange for simple circles, which takes away the ability for the player to edge a small advantage if they attack from the right angles.

If you wanted a cool niche you could make an RTS with a coop campaign, there's a lot of demand for it. Most people asking for MP in an RTS just want to stomp CPUs in a lobby with their friends. You also have to apply Player inflation numbers, like some people will suggest Street Fighter 6 is the most popular Street Fighter game ever made because it sold 1 or 2 million more copies than a home console version of Street Fighter II. But to have the same cultural relevance Street Fighter 6 would have had to sell 300m more copies
>>
>>568475889
Based trvke. Starcraft 3 will also be a game delivered as a "service" so sweats will constantly need to work around new seasonal balance changes and metas as the DLCs break up the community into smaller and smaller pieces.
AoE2 has had 18 civs added since release prior to DE over the course of 20 years + 6 weeks.
DE has been out for less than seven years and has introduced 19. They're adding civs with castles made of mud or sticks now, as if they were peers to the most powerful of the time period.

He's oversimplifying it (because by his own admission he doesn't really play a lot of RTS) but he's not far off, I assume he's referring to game like Dawn of War 2 and 3 or even Starcraft 2 that were hyperfocusing on babying the players around over evolving the mechanics. The push against base building for example is such a weird stance to have, any kid who pretend plays a war knows its 2 teams and our team is gonna fuck their base up. Stepping in and deciding for other people "well no actually it's about guys fighting other guys" is such a game designer ass move.

It's utterly pointless, I'd have to sell 2,500,000,000 copies just to be as successful as Minecraft and Stardew Valley.
I could sell 125,000,000,000 copies and not even come close to a fraction of their success.
How could anyone ever create something that sold 6,250,000,000,000 copies?

>How could anyone ever create something that sold 6,250,000,000,000 copies?
By being first and original.

Also in 2015 Minecraft had 70m copies sold, it was about $10 in Alpha, $20 in 2012 and then $40 in 2015 so we can assume the average ppu was pretty close at least, let's say $30, $2.1b. Total worldwide gamers were around 2B at the time compared to todays 3.4B so 1.7x, apply that to revenue $2.1b -> $3.6b. Can you make a title that sells as much? MiHoYo have some titles that have made $4-6b each so yes, it's possible.

I'll be honest, Anon. This seems like a game a man makes purely because it's what he's into and nobody else is making. Which, while I'll applaud you in doing, is doomed to have few if not zero sales. It is exactly that, you aim your guns, aircraft etc. and try to hit the enemy ship while trying to keep yours afloat by repairing it, moving it into position and keeping water out. It is pretty fun to try to manage your ship while being bombarded

What are you supposed to do if you are a person who's been neglected your whole life to the point where every single thing you do is because you're trying to impress others to get their love and attention, but you have nothing meaningful to say and nothing to create out of genuine passion, and only do it in the hopes others will finally see you?

i streamed making some music and i realized that what's really fucked up about it is when you try to impress people. you become so desperate to make something cool, to find a cool sound or any secret that produces absolute addictive music.

but in reality, it's the opposite. i enjoy listening to classical music. that type of music is just nice. it's not like being on crack, cocaine and weed all at the same time. it's just... good. it's nice. it's not trying to impress, it's just trying to be beautiful.

maybe that's why music is such a race to the bottom, it always has to be more polarizing, more fucked up, more provocative.

actually ideally i would have streamed on a toilet and sampled fart sounds, rapping about turd eating. that would entertain people. this would have brand value. the toilet rapper who loves his turds.

but if you just play some nice piano, nobody cares.

trying to impress people is really a curse. but i notice something similar in gamedev. you can either try to make that funny next indie hit. or you can go the route of just trying to make a classic. an rts, a roguelike, a city builder etc. - but then it's all about quality, about making something beautiful, something that is a work of art. but that wont be a fad of the month.

who actually still cares about schedule 1? nobody. yet it made tons of money. it seems to work for the money. but you...

damn i'm done rambling. maybe someone can turn my text into a coherent thought that makes sense.
>>
>>568506507
I know how you feel, anon
was going to write something more but it wouldn't have been "cool" and supportive enough anyway
>>
>>568506507
I streamed myself making music recently, and it made me realize something unpleasant: the moment you start trying to impress people, the whole process becomes corrupted.

You stop making music for its own sake. Instead, you become desperate to find a cool sound, a secret trick, or some addictive formula that will make people immediately pay attention. You start chasing impact instead of beauty.

But the music I actually enjoy most is not like that. I like classical music because it is simply beautiful. It is not trying to feel like crack, cocaine, and weed all at once. It is not screaming for attention. It is just good. It is pleasant. It wants to be beautiful, not shocking.

Maybe that is why so much music feels like a race to the bottom. Everything has to be more polarizing, more provocative, more grotesque, more extreme. If I really wanted attention, I should have streamed from a toilet, sampled fart sounds, and rapped about eating turds. That would entertain people. It would have brand value: the toilet rapper who loves his turds.

But if you just sit down and play a nice piano piece, nobody cares.

Trying to impress people is a curse. I notice the same thing in game development. You can either chase the next funny indie hit, the kind of thing that becomes a meme and sells because people want to be part of the joke, or you can try to make something timeless: an RTS, a roguelike, a city builder, or some other classic form.

But if you take the second path, everything depends on quality. You have to make something beautiful, something polished, something that can stand as a real work of art. It probably will not become the fad of the month.

Who still cares about Schedule I? Almost nobody. And yet it made a lot of money. Chasing trends clearly works, at least financially.

But it leaves you with a miserable question: are you making something because it is good, or because it might impress people for five minutes?
>>
>>568507213

UI might be the worst type of gamedev work. I wonder how those devs that make menu simulators like those japanese games can do it? It's such a tedious job.
And in the end, the UI that you design and implement might not even look good or might have to be rearranged to be better or something.

That's because tutorials aren't always necessary. Sometimes people need to just dive in and try to do something then look up how to do what they are trying to do bit by bit. Game is now 70% of the way done. I am officially calling this 'alpha'. All the slots exist and it's fun through the game, so it's now about swapping out all of the assets. The hardest part of game dev is actually becoming a producer to focus on making the game complete

>If you want to make a 3D game, make sure you outsource a large portion of your assets instead of attempting to create everything yourself, otherwise you will find yourself on a one-way trip to crab city.
I read the AGDG Resources page. While I think this is good advice, I'm not sure how to act on it. What are some platforms to find people to outsource 3D asset creation to? Anyone with experience doing this? If so, how did you get in contact with people open to collaboration/willing to work for commission? What were the prices like, and how did you feel about the experience overall?
>>
>>568537386
If you're having to ask this question, then the better advice for you would be to not try to make a game that would require so many 3D assets. Start with Pong, faggot.

A lot of people will fundamentally ngmi, because they don't have neither the talent, or motivation, to actually make a successful game and should instead live a life of being an eternal wagie.
Then you accept that all of society is like this and come to the conclusion that both China and Peter Thiel are completely right, and people shouldn't have any right to anything, instead living life as dictated by a controlled economy. >>
>>568544787
He left us for /v/, got some really good advice, followed it, fixed his combat, and achieved gamedev nirvana. He doesn't need anybody anymore
>>
>>568546908
It's not bad for beginners. It's bad for solodevs. It's fine for if you have a studio of about 20 people. The only things solodevs have ever shipped with UE are shovelware asset flips.
>>
Burn out only happens if you don't have a concrete idea of where you are going btw.
If you already know how the gameplay will be, the mechanics you want to implement, art style, length, then the only thing that's left is to make it a reality and your main motivation will be the $$$ that's at the end of the journey.

If you have already solved all of the above then you will never project hop, "burn out", or abandon the project, as the game is already theoretically made, it's only a matter of bringing it from an idea into reality.
This is the only place in the world in which all the "aspiring game developers" will attack you and call you retarded for prototyping, drawing concepts and actually planning the game, instead suggesting for you to waste your time by simply starting a million projects, using assets that they didn't make or using AI, and release all these incomplete, half assed, shitty projects and pray that someone will buy it.

Anon, what's your current job?
You DO know that game developer salaries across the board are up to 50% lower than software engineers in any other professions right?
Assuming you're at some boring corporate job right now, and assuming you're a nerd who likes video games, a 20% cut is a decent deal to move into a younger studio with a culture that fits your personality better, plus the opportunity to network with other game devs. A lot of game studios, including the guys who made Hollow Knight, the guys who made FTL, the guys who made Enter the Gungeon, and even Valve started with 2-3 programmers quitting their job together to go full-time on a random game they talked about at lunch break in their old company.

Faggots can't into 3d modeling, texturing, shaders or animations. The engine already has a million courses both in blueprints or actual coding for how to do any shitty game you will ever want to make.
People are simply intimidated due to the million options. It's like how people pretend that Zbrush is actually written in an alien language compared to Blender simply because it has more options.

Instead, what the crabs in here will advice you, is to create the 10000000th 2d, pixelart, platformer and to make 15 sales total (all of them are irl friends and family), then you'll get depressed and never make a game again, return to your life as a wagie, your gf will start earning 2x as much as you do, she will cuck you and break up with you (hypergamy is a real thing). You will quit your job, grow fat, go bald, and kill yourself after three years of isolating yourself and barely bathing.
Meanwhile instead you could have said "yeah, using UE5 will be a little harder, but the possibility for a high quality product is exponentially higher (specially if the graphics are stylized to avoid the UE5 look that realistic games get), so I will man up, and do it anyways because I want my life to actually amount to something".

"But where will I find all these resourses for how to do all of this, it's impossible for a man like me to start, I better stick to doing shitty 2d, pixelart, games like 99% of the other guys in here". Rutracker, Btdig, CGpersia, and the /ic/ telegram groups have all the resources a solo game dev will ever need.
>>
If you're first game isn't a unreal 5 horror game, can u even call urself a gamedev?
>>
>>568546908
I think Unreal is much easier than Unity. Better pre-set options and blueprints are great if you're a retard like me and are bad at reading.
If you're already leaning towards Unreal, then absolutely use it or at least give it a try.

Everything is bad for beginners. Beginners most of the time shouldn't even be using engines, they should learn how to properly create a game from scratch so they understand fundamentals then go into an engine. After that nothing matters other then time spent in the program to learn every nook and cranny of it.

the enemy character can also take aim at a target so the next tasks will involve setting up the first enemies to shoot at.

I read something about training dogs, that some of them can be "food motivated" which makes them easier to train by rewarding them with food. The phrase "food motivated" is used mostly for dogs, but I feel like it could apply to me as well. What, am I better than a dog? I'm no better than a dog. I'll do tricks for sweets. So I've decided if I work over my 5 hour quota today, then tomorrow I'll reward myself with donuts after breakfast. I'm sick of this still life shit.

rimworld is literally just too extreme an example. tynan would be gabencunt's apprentice if he could. ur bootlicking to own the steamies.

instead of paying 40 for a competent sequel, lets pay 25 for 2 extra features kek. times 4. i bought ideology, it really doesnt justify the price.

tynan made a good game, and because of that, he takes full advantage of their dicksuck fanbase with glee. i disagree with that

>>
>>568559195
>Is a new weapon that changes how you play content or feature?
Feature, content that fundamentally changes how you play can only be considered a feature.
>Is content useless then?
It depends, most of content and features are there for aesthetic reasons so to sell them as extra make sense.
>But this hinders the development of the game, how will they secure more funding?
Sell the next version of the game, you can also flip the argument and ask.
>What prevents a developer from having feature incomplete or fundamentally broken games and selling DLC as the fix?
Nothing, unless you hold developers to some standard, allowing DLC as optional cosmetics is a healthy compromise.

i have a distaste toward gamers, but i like making games and to make a living, i must cater to them.

>isnt rimworld a story generator?
'Story generator' is a marketing term. It has no operational use beyond signalling some form of sensationalized procedural event generation.
There is an entire YouTube meta about creating content with titles that go, "A squirrel killed my baby, and now we've turned into space cannibals!"
In Dwarf Fortress-fashion, you find that people can tell wacky summaries about game events mashing together, so if you're into that type of thing, you'll stay entertained indefinitely.
However, if you want a deeper, more internalized experience, RW is not about that.

>do you see that as different from a roleplaying game?
'Roleplaying' in the sense that you forge and maintain identities?
A pawn may spawn with a 'jealous' trait. Ask yourself, how does a person interface with that trait?
It doesn't unlock any dialogue options, since the social aspect of RW is very barebones and not at all involved by the player.
What it does is create a game state where you are forced to change your resource investment to avoid a semi-permanent mood penalty.
The most 'roleplay' you'll get out of the game is drafting all of your pawns, putting them in one room and pausing your game and pretend that they talk to each other as though you're playing with a doll house.

>>568560479
I want my reviews to be just good enough to not sink my game and no better. people throwing money at you is the purest form of praise

>>568559731
A lot of times when kids grow up being left out of play or never in charge of anything you play with your friends they turn to video games instead, some of them turn into game developers. To this brand of developer, play is something that follow set rules with a strict hierarchy, the game master and his lackeys whose approval he bargains for with promises, material possessions or status. They never consider that the game master, might not have been a master at all, that he simply was the one that knew how to have fun and to make things fun for everyone else. That the game 'master' was rarely considered his own feelings, that he derived meaning from everyone having a memorable experience.

A pawn spawns with a jealous trait. suddenly, every decision is contextualized by that. The pawn helps his ex wife as she is sick. suddenly your brain imagines the context, the jealous pawn, even in his jealousy, nurses his ex wife for the sake of the colony and for her. there is love there. what a nice story.

The lack of gameplay adds to the gameplay, its a formula thats hard to top. i just dont know how to make my game better than that, without extreme dev time.

Regarding the social aspect, i agree, but thats not a weakness IMO. It's just flavortext and isnt the core of the story
maybe it didnt click for you, it didnt for the first few runs.

Do you have any recommendations for games that you prefer over rimworld? i bounced off of DF but i love rimworld. it is for a much casual audience

Yes this is directed at (You), since you like sucking dicks more than you like making games.
I love making games and I love making my audience happy, I love reading their reviews and comments, so I don't have your problems.

Honestly PZ is really good, I'm glad they made it and I'm glad nobody can pretend to imitate it. What someone should be doing is mining 7DTD and making a game that removes all TFP's retarded and ass-bnackwards decisions. Literally if you released like, 2018-era 7DTD right now or next year you could retire on it, that's how bad 7DTD has gotten and that's how hungry people are for a mainline fix and not just mods.

>>568563737
Ru Paul's drag race is one of the biggest shows for normgroids while still being an abjectly gay and trans thing. RPDR objectively ISN'T for everyone, just like Hades isn't, but it doesn't mean the consumer pools won't cross pollinate.
>>
>>568563865
I didn't see a single gay thing in my hades playthrough. it might be there, so I concede that, but I didn't see it.
>>
>>568564035
There are explicitly gay characters which isn't a huge thing don't get me wrong, I am not saying it's forced or DEI or whatever. But the characters are very, very gay. The non-game parts feel and look like a long night at a lesbian bar.
>>
>>568564142
I've never seen a lesbian bar so idk what that would look like. it just looked like fantasy/greek/art deco or something
>>
>>568564332
That's fair, I just mean that it feels like a "gathering of the gays," and the devs do say that it's intentional. Because it's "their world" and not your circle it probably does feel new or unique or culturally agnostic, but the cast is basically a theater troupe on a bar crawl. The game part is whatever, but there's an entrire visual novel tacked on.
>>
>>568564591
I think I skipped the visual novel part. I only gained affinity with charon.
>>
>>568563105

I'm just criticizing that one troll that claims just about every game is AI regardless of how involved it is
>>
>>568564774
Lol, you can't really skip it. The game forces you through the novel parts. You might have mashed the dialog forward button, but the game carries Zagreus (and then Melinoë) through an explicitly queer character arc in a story and world filled with only queer characters. I'm not saying that to make fun of you, that is the explicit intent of the game. Closing your eyes and pretending the gays aren't there is probably the funniest way to play Hades tbqh.
>>
>>568564823
>regardless of how involved it is
That phrase is doing a LOT of heavy lifting. Codex and Claude Code have probably made and shipped more games at this point than all of humanity combined in the history of video games, but people insist that they aren't AI games because something something I edited Gemini's tileset in Aseprite. Ya, no.

You are probably lying to save face anonymously, for some reason, like I care what gay coomer games you play, but no, it's extremely and explicitly overt. They beat you over the head with gay-gay-gay sex-sex-sex at practically every turn.

>>
>>568566063
Idek what to tell you dude, you had to have played the game blind and deaf? Zagreous just IS gay, or bisexual if we're being specific, and is explicitly in a gay throuple. The story REVOLVES around this so I honestly have no clue how you got to this point where you're familiar enough with Hades to recall it, but somehow blocked out the gay stuff, which is the main driver of the story. Like there practically is nothing else other than the father killing thing which is just basic Greek mythology. You had to be invested in the gay shit for Hades to feel novel because the story is every Greek myth ever and no new ground is broken there, only in the gayness parts, so this is really confusing for someone to claim that they were blindsided.
>>

>>
>>568566918
So just to clear the air here, you're asking me to interpret a game YOU played? Why are you just not interpreting it for yourself? Zagreus being a gay cuck is literally the core identity of Hades. If you need to know how the parent thing ties into Zagreus getting buttfucked by Thanatos and then sitting in the cuck chair while he does Meg the answer is Zagreus hates that his dad is conservative. I am actually flabberghasted and just don't believe this went over someone's head.

>explicitly queer arc
yet this is clearly not the case, implicit is not explicit. maybe YOU are misremembering how little the game gives you if you do not do sidequests.
>>
>>568567596
No, I'm not. The crux of the game is the House of Hadees suffering under a very conservative lord, and his gay cuck son just does enough gay shit to reverse course. I would also like to point out that you have to retreat to "well, I didn't play huge parts of the game," which is interesting. But no, it's not locked in side content, it is the core part of the game. Meg is a Fury sent to stop Zagreus, Thanatos is death, and they resolve the waning House of Hades by being in a gay cuck throuple. Like I'm not even trolling, this is something the DEVS will tell you. Idk if you're just in denial because you liked a pride game, but you're literally just not engaging with the game's core identity at this point.
>>
>>568567839
I'm trying to find facts about this. I'm completely open to being wrong, misremembering etc. I'm fairly sure you are gaslighting me though as my research is indicating it's not as you describe.
>>
>>568568173
Dude this is insane. I am NOT trolling you, I even went and opened the game back up, reread the forums, the story, all of it. The game's central theme is: the gay throuple saves the day from conservative stewardship. The relationships are so central to the story that a discussion that omits them is simply not a discussion about Hades. I mean by all means, replay the game and examine it in earnest, it is explicitly a queer game about a queer identity. I am not "just saying" this, the devs intended this.

Where anon is Highly Hyperbolic and Incorrect

While anon is right that the queer elements exist, his description of how they function in the game is highly exaggerated and colored by aggressive, culture-war internet slang.

"Sex-Sex-Sex at Practically Every Turn": This is factually incorrect. Hades has no explicit sexual content. The romances are written as slow-burn, emotional dramas[3]. When a romantic relationship is finally consummated, the screen simply fades to black with some suggestive dialogue. It is a far cry from "beating you over the head" with explicit content.

"Conservative Stewardship": Bob framing the plot as Zagreus fighting his dad because his dad is "conservative" is anachronistic. Lord Hades is a rigid, overworked mythological bureaucrat bound by the laws of the Fates. The resolution of their conflict involves mutual understanding and compromise[1], not a political victory over "conservatism."

"The Gay Throuple Saves the Day": This is a complete mischaracterization of the ending. The "throuple" (if the player even pursues it) has no bearing on the main resolution of the plot, which involves bringing Persephone back to the Underworld and hosting a feast to reconcile with the Olympian gods[4].
