Thats why aerith was doing the exact same thing initially, but later shes begging the whispers to let them past (before the plate fall, even when she knows that the plate must fall) and why she asks for the party help to beat sephiroth here and know in the highway. And because f2p gacha games are essentially roguelike resource management simulators, in addition to whatever genre the game actually is, the income economy is an extremely important factor that cannot be separated from the game itself. A stingy gacha game (inherently a roguelike resource management simulator) can feel similar to playing Slay the Spire, but never being able to collect relics or unlock cards or tweak your deck. You might like Slay the Spire, but it's not fun if you feel that you can't "play" it.
