I read the maiden who travels the planet novella and Aerith is such a sweet angel. She says that she wanted nothing more than to live with Cloud yet she still wants to help him move on so gracefully. She feels jealous of Tifa getting to live but she's never bitter and helps her reach Cloud.It makes me appreciate her and Cloud in AC much more. Aerith so kindly tells him she never blamed him, and he came for her even when he was about to break and that's enough for her, it really shows that she understands him better than anyone.And I really like that Cloud follows his own path. Tifa wants him to get with her, Aerith wants him to move on, but he remains waiting to die with Aerith because those are his real feelings and he's true to them. It makes me feel like the girls don't control him even when they want the best for him, and it's meaningful when he's able to smile and let go of his guilt. He's still thinking he'll reunite with Aerith someday and I hope it happens for him.

I think they are equal parts excited and scared shitless of the reception as this is the last game in the trilogy and thus their final chance knock it out of the park. Remake set things up beautifully and fans were looking forward to them shaking things up in a major way, but with how safe they seem to have played it with Rebirth it disappointed many who wanted major story beat changes. Part 3 is their final shot to nut up or shut up on many aspects, the plot, shipping, gameplay. Hell, they even seemed to struggle with deciding on a subtitle for the final entry. A lot is riding on it to end the trilogy in a satisfying way.
