You may recall it was hated it back when it was just an empty sandbox. Though the hate was mostly because of all the broken promises, being an empty sandbox didn't help.

Cuz they weren't on my radar/ hadn't really heard of them. I'm really picky and always looking for games, yet I still haven't played many of them. It starts out similar in nature (you know nothing in a world that will try to kill you) and has a mostly-destructible environment.
The similarities are there, even if it goes in significantly different directions beyond that basic idea (and robust weapon crafting).

IGTAP: an Incremental Game That's Also a Platformer
Bit of a silly game and I would bet money this came out of some sort of game jam.
But it's a fun mix of genres. You complete platforming courses and use the reward to buy clones that copy your best time to get a fraction of the reward. Use the reward to get movement upgrades to access more lucrative courses and increase your best times.

I played this the other day, pretty neat. Also like that there is secret upgrades outside of the courses so there's a reason to explore.

I'm not entirely sure if I know which one you mean. Either I didn't figure it out, or I found it by myself before, when I was "breaking" the routes to get better times.
This one I kinda give up on though. I'm glad to have gotten a run without resets and I think I'll leave it at that. I'm just not good at platformers

Object Impermanence Demo
very fun puzzle game so far, I've just reached the first puzzle that has me genuinely stumped, which is a good sign.
It does this really cool thing that I love about games, when they teach you the mechanics without a single word, just with good level design. The gimmick in this one is that, as the name suggests, certain objects only exist in the game world while you look at them. There's different rules as to what happens to them when you lose sight of them and I imagine the puzzles and rules will only become more complex over time.

Songs of Glimmerwick Demo
Okay fuck whatever that magic school game by chucklefish was called, this is my best friend now.
I'm surprised it's fully voice acted, the art is just an absolute treat and it's an actual fantasy setting instead of that weird modern day plus magic blend.
I really hope this turns out good, it's a little hard to judge because the demo is quite linear so far since it's basically the prologue of the game

Only thing I'm slightly worried about is difficulty or lack thereof. The game reiterated in the loading screen and the main menu how it's a cozy game and don't worry dude just play at your pace and chill.

I had 4 village with around 40 villagers and it has never been a problem, but then I have a gaming rig, and this game and MD are marketed as comfyslop. And that type of player generally don't have a rig able to run whatever indie devs uses.

Hmm, okay my opinion on this is turning a little bit over the course of the demo and I don't think I'll be finishing it.
It feels like there isn't quite enough stuff to do in a day and I don't feel very engaged. But it is quite likely that I'm just unwilling to to engage with a lot of the content, because I know it's a demo and none of my progress will really matter.
Plus some of the dialogue is a bit cringe to the point where I wonder if it would be less bad if it wasn't voice. It's manageable, but combined with everything else it made me shelf this for now. Maybe I'll give it a try when it's fully released.

The biggest problem is that companions don't level up by combat, but by using a currency that is only earned by doing story missions. And I barely have spent some on them. And for some fucking reason, the combat against the surprise demon anal sex, only counts the companions, and not the hired swords.
I will have to grind contracts because with this trip, I would have spent around 500-600 Bross. I'm not even keeping track of the losses now.

Not sure if I keep item drop on death on. Its so easy to die to little shit in this game, but removing punishment removes any tension. Wish items didn't despawn so easily.

I imagine that it would make too easy to cheese the game. For example, I could travel to a very far away place and not worry about finding a safe place to stay the night, in fact, I could go back to my home faster by dying and respawing near it.

In the other hand, I imagine that dropping items on death will get very bad later, once I get better gear and start needing to travel to farther places, or going more underground. This is still a videogame and losing some stuff could mean a lot of frustration. There is also some obtuse stuff, like enemies being able to spawn near you during a temporal storm.

This game needs a middle term between these options and some work around death and spawn points. There are some mods that add corpses with the items, they look interesting, but all of them have people in the comments reporting issues, so they may not be a good idea right now.

But since it doesn't in Vintage Story, I turned off that inventory drop the moment I started playing. I already suffer the indignity of dying and getting a cheeky death message, I'm not risking losing a very expensive copper suit because of mobs respawning faster than I kill them or whatever else.

I just saw someone argue that a game released in February 2019 (Metro exodus) was not that bad because actually "it was during the pandemic so development was hard". Then I saw someone saying the same thing about the kuva liches and railjack in warframe and then again about death stranding.
All of these things were released before the pandemic actually started. (Well technically, railjack was released 2 weeks after patient zero was identified but canada wasn't impacted yet)
