>>571089719>orcasno.very much not frens.
Thanks to the guy who recommended PUNK as something like noita. I don't think it's very much like noita at all but it's nevertheless a pretty neat game. Surprised it's "free" due to playtest desu, pretty solid
Reminder that Next Fest is ongoing and you should be playing demos for indie games right now
>>571084718I feel like people underestimate how much effort it actually is to make sandbox games feel cohesive. >>571091180Exactly. Even Animal Crossing has a fuckload of stuff to do.
>>571090729But I have actual games to play.>>571091180>You can't just throw a bunch of content at the wall and expect the player to do find the fun by themselves. No Man's Sky begs to differ.

>>571091880>No Man's Sky begs to differ. No Man's Sky actually has a lengthy main storyline and plenty of authored side content. You may recall it was hated it back when it was just an empty sandbox. Though the hate was mostly because of all the broken promises, being an empty sandbox didn't help.

Some more shit to try tomorrow
tried rivage since someone here mentioned it last threadit clearly wants to be myst with outer wild's timeloop/blue prince's resets and prey's setting, but unfortunately the performance is ass, the lighting is actively hostile, the loop is poorly integrated, and generally just trying to look at anything is miserable which is bad when your game is about finding visual cluesalso i kind of hate the entire casti got walled by the key puzzle because i genuinely could not see the slot for shit
Ah, Earth Dancer! Your dance has brought me joy and happiness. In gratitude, allow me to bestow upon you this recipe.
I am on my third attempted play through and I think I am just going to have to accept that I don't like Mina the Hollower even if I really want to.
So where are the Persona-likes?(Besides Demonschool which is based mostly on 1/IS/EP)
>>571101262the key chest is in the garden area you have to cycle to in the kitchen/lounge area

>>571110649Did they fix the feature that dropping stuff on the ground makes it despawn? I am STILL pissed.
They're turning off the life support for my mother-in-law tomorrow. Lost my father-in-law less than three months ago. Don't know how to comfort my wife. Bad situation. Feels like everything is ending.
>>571118526That's rough, man.
It was looking mighty grim for a sec, but I thought of some new games to try: Odin Sphere and ASTLIBRA.
>>571119729Why haven't you already played them?
>>571123430Cuz they weren't on my radar/ hadn't really heard of them. I'm really picky and always looking for games, yet I still haven't played many of them. Blame 4chan and the algorithms for sucking at showing me new ideas. I literally thought of these games by going into an fantasy/ elf thread on /v/. Suddenly I have a subconscious thought that's not even really related to the thread: "What ever happened to Dragon's Crown (Never really even played it). Ask Gork for games similar to it and more about that genre: BQQM I get those two aforementioned gems as ideas. I swear man, it's just me and LLMs out here that can make anything happen.
>>571090476Ye. I beat it just the other day, quite satisfied.>I don't think it's very much like noita at allIt starts out similar in nature (you know nothing in a world that will try to kill you) and has a mostly-destructible environment. The similarities are there, even if it goes in significantly different directions beyond that basic idea (and robust weapon crafting).
>>571129646Nigger you can't just post that without giving us the name
>>571130379it's from the dust front demo which is available right now through next fest
I liked the Valor Mortis demo and yes, i want more souls like.
IGTAP: an Incremental Game That's Also a PlatformerBit of a silly game and I would bet money this came out of some sort of game jam.But it's a fun mix of genres. You complete platforming courses and use the reward to buy clones that copy your best time to get a fraction of the reward. Use the reward to get movement upgrades to access more lucrative courses and increase your best times.
>Open backloggd>Order all games from release date>Start adding on my wishlist every unreleased game that looks good>Repeat in a few monthsBy doing this i just found out n++ will get a new multiplayer games, looks cool but i don't have friends to play it with
>>571138448Good job. I tried to face him, died everytime.
>complete the set>175โฌ>aka $2 500 once adjusted for inflationlmao keep dreaming
>>571140107God this demo is long (or I'm just shit at platformers)It's kinda fun to go back to earlier levels and "break" them with movement upgrades
Played this game for decades, and I still suck at it. Only now do I learn that I can stack dodge and double jump to move quickly.
>>571143592Adrenaline was weird
>>571143885I kinda like the system, though I don't think I ever used invisiblity.
>>571143378>God this demo is longwait until you get to the B-Sides...I played this the other day, pretty neat. Also like that there is secret upgrades outside of the courses so there's a reason to explore. The B-Sides also teach you secret movement tech which is pretty sick.
>>571140107something about this hurts my eyes, I think its the scene transitions
>>571144595Yeah I like the hidden upgrades too.>The B-Sides also teach you secret movement tech which is pretty sick.I'm not entirely sure if I know which one you mean. Either I didn't figure it out, or I found it by myself before, when I was "breaking" the routes to get better times. This one I kinda give up on though. I'm glad to have gotten a run without resets and I think I'll leave it at that. I'm just not good at platformers>>571146465The screen transitions are really annoying, I admit. Also at least one is located in a really bad spot, where I wish I could see ahead a bit more.
>>571146529>>571144595Oh what the fuck, there is even more? It thought by B-Sides you meant the part where the power cuts out....I think I've seen enough of the game for now.
>>571146529anon...When everything turns red it isn't the B-Sides yet.keep going a bit, you just need to buy the upgrade to the left to switch the blocks on dash and then you can finish the demo.

Meaningless Random Numbers DemoAbsolute schizo-core but weirdly enjoyable
I cant play Balatro. I have been able to barely win before but I can't do big runs or huge numbers. Any help? I just dont get it. I regret ever playing this.
>>571157286Also the soundtrack in the second stage is so good, I was disappointed that on subsequent runs you clear it so quickly
>>571157447what's the name of this, I know a guy who'll love it
>>571157645https://store.steampowered.com/app/4211060/Meaningless_Random_Numbers/
>>571157775oh wow I thought you were literally just joking about the name
>>571157838I figured, that's why I decided not to be too much of an asshole about you asking for the name
Object Impermanence Demovery fun puzzle game so far, I've just reached the first puzzle that has me genuinely stumped, which is a good sign.It does this really cool thing that I love about games, when they teach you the mechanics without a single word, just with good level design. The gimmick in this one is that, as the name suggests, certain objects only exist in the game world while you look at them. There's different rules as to what happens to them when you lose sight of them and I imagine the puzzles and rules will only become more complex over time.
>>571162789>I've just reached the first puzzle that has me genuinely stumpedoh lel, literally right after I posted I realized that I was just being a bit silly and learned that that was the very last puzzle of the demo
>>571088414Slugcat...
How do you do fellow Tyr gamers
>>571164991I personally hopes the puzzles get more complex than just following balls around, but ill admit the mechanics could allow for some unorthodox puzzles. Also they better add an monkey oc donut steel ball who copies your movements when you look at it, for obvious reasons.
>>571174240Yeah I've had the same worry, but then again, the demo covers what's (hopefully) just the tutorial section. And the purple puzzles did make me go "huh that's neat" a few times and give me hope the full game will have more complex stuff too
>>571174184i love abusing the detection system
>>571178650Is this PvE?
>>571178735pvp only with matchmakingi know people here are allergic to this kind of a game but it's very good i promise
ohmygod come out alreadyyyyy
>>571140107i am enjoying this, the flow between movement optimization and upgrades and exploration is goodsprings can kinda get fucked thoughvery minimalist graphics but it works
>>571174184

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3758770/Ember_and_Blade_Demo/Not part of the festival but I gave this a try. It runs poorly for me and I think the 2D portraits don't look as nice as the 3D models, but it's probably the most promising Survivors knockoff I've seen
>>571119729Which one should I try first? Probably Odin, right considering it's older? It's like playing Super Mario Bros. before trying Mario World, right?
I'd bump with some demos, but I feel too shit right now
>wake up to a power failure>everything is blue>everything is floating>head down to the computer room>giant fucking purple laser in the distance>go outside and the sky is flickering>the blue goes away and everything drops>now all my shit's fuckedI don't care if they're alien catgirls with six tits, they gonna die for fuckin with my shit.
Back at reviving Sosougi.
ah, i see
Songs of Glimmerwick DemoOkay fuck whatever that magic school game by chucklefish was called, this is my best friend now.I'm surprised it's fully voice acted, the art is just an absolute treat and it's an actual fantasy setting instead of that weird modern day plus magic blend.I really hope this turns out good, it's a little hard to judge because the demo is quite linear so far since it's basically the prologue of the game
>>571205983Just look at these building interiors
>>571202881How is that compared to MD? Saw the reviews say it starts chugging hard after a couple dozen villagers
>>571157775he liked it btw, thanks :)
>>571205557alright i dunno how the fuck to even reach b-2can you land between the spikes?
>>571206934nevermind i can hop overthis is fucked up
>>571206176I'll say the screencaps don't look that impressive (not that they look bad) but it does seem to have a certain charm in motion
Only thing I'm slightly worried about is difficulty or lack thereof. The game reiterated in the loading screen and the main menu how it's a cozy game and don't worry dude just play at your pace and chill. And I know that's the target audience for these kinds of games, but what's the fun of becoming a powerful magician, if you don't struggle with student loans and overwhelming time tables at the beginning?>>571207425yeah, I've realized after posting that it loses a lot of it's beauty when you freeze it.>>571206885Hehe, welcome
>>571206308>How is that compared to MD? It has more activities and types of resources and goods. But with DLCs I think MD has more decoration, and like 2-4 maps, while SD has a map that has had additions tackled in.>Saw the reviews say it starts chugging hard after a couple dozen villagersUnrealEngine 5, pls understando.I had 4 village with around 40 villagers and it has never been a problem, but then I have a gaming rig, and this game and MD are marketed as comfyslop. And that type of player generally don't have a rig able to run whatever indie devs uses.
>>571207392i usually don't like kaizo level shit with spikes everywhere but somehow the B-sides here had me hooked.
>>571209369b-2 is incredibly fucked upi think i've gotten maybe three total clears of it before getting dash
Hmm, okay my opinion on this is turning a little bit over the course of the demo and I don't think I'll be finishing it.It feels like there isn't quite enough stuff to do in a day and I don't feel very engaged. But it is quite likely that I'm just unwilling to to engage with a lot of the content, because I know it's a demo and none of my progress will really matter.Plus some of the dialogue is a bit cringe to the point where I wonder if it would be less bad if it wasn't voice. It's manageable, but combined with everything else it made me shelf this for now. Maybe I'll give it a try when it's fully released.
This took me ages.
>>571130497>RTSshame, game looks really cool but RTS makes me really nervous and scared
>>571205983the logo made me assume it's chinkshit. thank you for proving otherwise. i'm going to like it.
I have mage fatigue.

>>571216721She doesn't need a clean anus to cast spell.
>>571217110The biggest problem is that companions don't level up by combat, but by using a currency that is only earned by doing story missions. And I barely have spent some on them. And for some fucking reason, the combat against the surprise demon anal sex, only counts the companions, and not the hired swords.I will have to grind contracts because with this trip, I would have spent around 500-600 Bross. I'm not even keeping track of the losses now.
>>571217852...sell her ass into sexual slavery, mate.

it's crazy how much easier this game is when you're just using magicthis guy will instantly kill you with any attack on hard and the parry/dodge timings in melee are extremely tight in the early game
Finally got into Curse Crackers after that one anon shilled it for a while. It is okay I guess.
>>571222248TURN HIM INTO CHEESE
>>571075262What are the odds that I actually got this signal?I should've listened. Fuck my life.
Not sure if I keep item drop on death on. Its so easy to die to little shit in this game, but removing punishment removes any tension. Wish items didn't despawn so easily.
>>571225595>removing punishment removes any tensionI disagree. You still have the frustration of having died, that is punishment enough.
Shitty Vagrus profit spreadsheet, to sanity check my intuition and rough mental math.I'm bad at spreadsheets.
>first the aliens shut down my power>then a hacker shut down my power and fucked up all the servers>now a transformer failed>all in one dayI haven't been able to do a goddamn thing today. I am so tired of flicking lightswitches.
Having 2 extra beasts of burden, really skyrockets your profit margins.Should go to the Mines of Plenty or Avernum and see how much profit I can make.
>>571225718I imagine that it would make too easy to cheese the game. For example, I could travel to a very far away place and not worry about finding a safe place to stay the night, in fact, I could go back to my home faster by dying and respawing near it.In the other hand, I imagine that dropping items on death will get very bad later, once I get better gear and start needing to travel to farther places, or going more underground. This is still a videogame and losing some stuff could mean a lot of frustration. There is also some obtuse stuff, like enemies being able to spawn near you during a temporal storm. This game needs a middle term between these options and some work around death and spawn points. There are some mods that add corpses with the items, they look interesting, but all of them have people in the comments reporting issues, so they may not be a good idea right now.
>>571227724I mean, I wouldn't mind losing my stuff if I died, if I knew that stuff respawn. But since it doesn't in Vintage Story, I turned off that inventory drop the moment I started playing. I already suffer the indignity of dying and getting a cheeky death message, I'm not risking losing a very expensive copper suit because of mobs respawning faster than I kill them or whatever else.
>>571225595Just get the player corpse mod, everyone uses it.Fighting against item despawn timers is the dumbest shit ever.
>>571222248>spam attack for a whole minuteHoly HP bloat, Batman!
Damn that dodge+jump is so damn good to move quickly, I can't believe how much I've been sitting on it.
People really don't remember that the covid-19 pandemic was not in 2019 but in 2020...I just saw someone argue that a game released in February 2019 (Metro exodus) was not that bad because actually "it was during the pandemic so development was hard". Then I saw someone saying the same thing about the kuva liches and railjack in warframe and then again about death stranding. All of these things were released before the pandemic actually started. (Well technically, railjack was released 2 weeks after patient zero was identified but canada wasn't impacted yet)
what's the difference between these two?
>>571237057Presumably thief is focused on stealth and avoiding confrontations/violence whereas crime is more general.
>>571237057Haven't played crime simulator but thief simulator was kinda good for a eurojank game. Not great, a bit grindy but I liked it. In the same way I liked stealth in payday 2.
>>571237057Thiefsim is a stealth game about stealing things and getting out without being detected.Crimesim is more of a smash-and-grab action roguelike that lets you cap people in the forehead.Neither are good.
>>571237951kek, might try crimesim then

Odin Sphere is kinda clunky, but cool. I think the chunkiness adds to the charm, maybe.
