But I liked the gameplay of 4 and 5 so much more that 3 doesnt hold up. 1 and 2 hold up, handle pacing pretty well and it feels natural. Halo 3 felt like their heart wasnt in it. they were painting by numbers, copying their old style and relying on bigger set pieces instead of meaningful ones. Moments like chasing down the scarab, watching Forward Unto Dawn land, the hornet fight, fighting the multiple scarabs to enter the arks control structure. Where most of it is empty space, flashing lights, and letting either the auto lockon or ai shoot at things with no real danger. the mission on the highway, blowing up AA wraith might take the cake on forgettable empty missions. its also poorly paced with how it simply ignores that the flood landed on earth, then we are off to some other place like nothing major happened. Rats Nest is a combination of all their laziest methods, having the player run through the same hallways 3 times, then use halo ce music in locations that dont match and ruin the moment. they reuse the music when trying to defend the pillar of autumn and the music for the sniper segment of Truth and Reconciliation while you are hunting brutes in a tunnel. Its cheap nostalgia bait.Halo Reach developed upon how they structured Halo 3 ODST. If you like ODST's pacing, then Reach is similar but with longer combat segments. And a notable difference is the spacing between check points being much further apart then previous games that would auto save regularly during lulls in combat. the campaign didnt waste a moment and made you earn it
