Why does Gaster have followers? They have deliberately shown up again and again across both Undertale and Deltarune, as well as highlighting their importance with Normal NPC and the reoccurring theme of gray and/or monochrome colors being connected to Gaster in some way. Why would someone follow Gaster, despite the circumstances? Why would Gaster NEED followers, if he is influencing them in some way? What is the connection between the loss of color and Gaster specifically?Most of all, I find it strange that people don't theorize about the followers specifically. Why is Kris so weird with Ralsei?Both the interaction with Susie and the interaction with Ralsei in the onsen can very quickly turned emotionally charged should you so choose that path, but what gets me is how Kris cannot open up to Susie in a proper manner but can with Ralsei. Kris mumbles to Susie if you try and make them supportive of her and Noelle’s relationship but speeds through their words if you try to make them choose the most overtly “romantic” option. But with Ralsei, if you make Kris say that Kris’s happy ending is with Ralsei, they just… seem to say it. Normally. Without trying to stop themself. Obviously we don’t know for certain because Ralsei gets cut off immediately by Susie jumping in the pool, but given Ralsei blushes and seems more shocked than confused, I think it’s pretty safe to assume that Kris just. Spoke their mind. To Ralsei. Unabated.And if you think back on the rest of the game, Kris’s interactions with Ralsei have… always been like this. Even in Chapter 1 and 2 when it’s implied that Kris was mostly indifferent to the goat. Kris can hug Ralsei multiple times without stopping themselves, Kris can encourage and praise Ralsei without trying to stifle it, Kris can dress Ralsei up in cute ribbons and encourage Ralsei when they wear a dress. These are all things you choose for Kris to do, but Kris has demonstrated many times that they have the ability to fuck with choices they really don’t want to engage in.So. Why is Kris so open to Ralsei in a way they aren’t with everybody else?

The truth of that day is that Kris stabbed Dess, who fell into the ground by accident as Kris was holding the knife which opened a dark fountain. Dess didn't die but became stuck within the darkness. The Knight is merely an armor worn by someone that has the same properties as a Titan, it reflects the fears of someone, that someone being Kris. Kris is working with whoever is under The Knight's armor because the Knight is a representation of his fears. The Knight's goal is to bring Dess back by causing the roaring seeing as she's still alive. If the Mother 3 inspiration is literal, The Knight could be Asriel.

The last bit of that part of Mantle you have to follow whichever path Noelle follows you through. The exit she says she found in the ARG is also unintended. By the end the two get used up by ERAM.This situation only happens for Noelle in her game because the person who can break the way leaves the party, the Fire Mage. The Normal route and the Aborted route will diverge based on whether Noelle or Ralsei is with you.

Ya know what I do think the entire game not releasing all at once suffers more from it. The reason why both the normal and weird route string you along with all this vague posting is *because* we have 1-2 years to sit on each story update.The Undertale genocide route immediately spoils the true pacifist route because players were expected to play it after the fact. If Undertale was released incrementally players would be going through Pacifist and Genocide at the same time. Flowey would've said some shit like "you... you're just like...that person"For the record, I think it's PERFECTLY FINE if a mystery isn't trying to be a Sherlock Holmes/Ace Attorney type story where all the evidence is laid out so you could solve the mystery yourself before the characters do. If the intended method of play is for the answers to be a complete surprise then strap me in for the ride I trust mr Fox. Higurashi did this beautifully where every twist recontectualized the entire story so far and it wouldn't have worked if you could figure it out early. Higurashi and Umineko also string you along with vagueposting due to the incremental release structure, when reading those VNs in one sitting you could really tell "wow this was released episodically" and I dunno maybe it's just a me problem but that's always been a pet peeve of mine.
