When you dissociate from reality, when you detach from the world, the Darkners cease to have purpose/be interesting to you, and so they turn to stone.This is my interpretation based on what we know so far. The Roaring is a submersion in fantasy so complete one dissociates from reality. The ideal, the goal, is balance.

Flowery is not really a parallel to Asgore outside of the "unwanted attention" stuff. I assume it was for pacing reasons but a lot of the interactions between flowery and the other flowers are told and not shown. It creates this kinda awkward thing where the flowers' interactions with the party and their interactions with flowery feel entirely divorced from one another when Asgore isn't directly involved and in those scenes the conflict with Asgore takes priority. It's less that something is "wrong" I guess and just that I wish we had just a smidge more time to explore the interpersonal relationships between flowery and the flowers the way the cafe scenes let us see all the flowers interact more deeply.
