What matters is that you have a unique identity that gets diluted by the ability to multi-spec. Literally noone cares about your parses. Everyone can go in pvp spec and easily do any raid in classic. The most important thing is having your own unique identity instead of being a boring generic class that does anything. Maybe you are the pvp-spec feral or resto of your group who isn't the main character in the raid unlike the pve-spec guy. Everyone has their own unique identity. It makes the game fun to play.

Spells are mana consuming and you don't want to drink water 24/7 when wands do similar damage. Wands are the way to go up until level 40+ (44-45 imho).

Also want to add, if you're grouped up and using spells, you have to use lower ranked heals also, to manage your mana.
Some people like to continuously attack other mobs and not let you recover your mana, so do not be afraid to tell them they should wait until you're full of mana for the next attack. That way when you run out of mana, their death is all on them.

The point is that having multiple specs kills the uniqueness of your identity and the role you have in the roleplaying game. You become a generic identity that can do anything. No, resto is not "vastly superior" to feral when playing wsg because you can be in a team that already has enough healers and the extra move speed from swiftness or other utilities from feral might be way better in that match because pvp is not a static thing like raiding and there is more room for variation. And it DOESN'T MATTER to the point whether or not spec X is better in your opinion what matters is that you have a more interesting unique identity in the role-playing game instead of a boring generic one.
You can disagree with me and that's fine but the fact that you're obsessing over some semantics to pretend not to understand the point or arguing about which specs are best is why i'm being rude to you.

Classic needs a ton of absolutely shitter players. Like absolute goobers that couldn't even bother to do the attunements in tbc and looking for someone else to do the attunements for them. And we need A LOT of them, and we need them to not leave! They were around in vanilla, tbc and wotlk around because they could clear a blackrock depths or wotlk naxxramas, get a couple of bosses down in the Molten Core and the Karazhan giving them illusions to think that they would clear the content and get some of those items from the Black Temple or Ulduar.

Now they just leave the game. In cataclysm, the first raid boss is a giant fire worm that crushes half the area, casts fire pillars, makes you spawn parasites which need to be killed and you need to launch hooks at him to pin him down granting you a burn phase. The first raid trash in mists of pandaria turns your whole raid into stone, I can imagine a noob being like "what the fuck is going on"? The first boss is 4 dogs each of which have 4 energy meters who turn you into stone or explode killing you, chain people together and then you have to run on these tiles on the side to make you do more damage to the dogs? There's just NO CHILL, no smooth learning curve, it feels like the devs back then expected you to be experienced raider. Compare that to the Molten core, where the first bosses mechanic is to press decurse. Or Karazhan, where the first boss is a fucking dog or a bat who do exactly what you'd expect.

yeah I've been saying this in some of these threads. the game NEEDS casuals. the game needs people that just play to socialize with others. what made og wow so good was that i was 12 years old talking to some woman going through a divorce and we were just hanging out in game. it makes the world full.
