They're now recently adding instancing because who knew having totally perpetual servers and ship graveyards wasn't practical - besides being poorly designed (their inventory system somehow affects physics). Warframe for a live service game has managed itself well by making it mostly client based, with server authentication only for inventory and progress, not actual gameplay.
