Still laughing at that anon's explanation about what happened to Civ7.
Sleepy
HAK HAK HAK
>>5801626327 also fell victim to the "shitty and incomplete at launch" curse which was definitely a bigger reason for its fall, as anyone can see from Steam reviews, and then got hit with the "shitty overpriced DLC" curse, especially for some civs that should have been in the base game. Fucking Britain didn't launch with 7 and released later as DLC, and a few other civs that have been in the whole series since Civ 1 still aren't represented.Humankind being a Civ-killer was never an official marketing thing, but it's still funny that Civ managed to kill itself with their first game after Humankind. For numbers autism 7 has had less peak players than 5, and its 24 hour peak concurrent is 25k vs 5's 19k. 6 surpasses both by a huge margin (162k all time and 46k within the last day), but it all paints the same picture that 7 shat the bed hard enough that people aren't leaving 6 and so it's pulling civ 5 numbers a year after release. And as I'm typing this I just realized that 7's free weekend is going on, so despite that and the long American weekend 7's still putting out this terrible turnout; looks like normally 7's peaks are worse than 5's lows. The comedic tragedy comes from Firaxis's sheer incompetency. Their two biggest IPs, Civ and Xcom, are franchises where the core players will keep coming back after a long dev cycle if the game is GOOD. But 7 isn't and Xcom was left to rot. They could have given 7 another year or two of dev time and nobody would've cared, they just shot themselves in the foot for no reason.
>>580179032why was it so expensive anyway. what the hell were they thinking?
>>580179214They weren't thinking. That's the gist of it.
>>580179214Large dev games are just $70 now, it's how the industry's gone. Base 5 was $50 on launch in 2010, 6 was $60 in 2016, 7 $70 in 2025. Funny how it shook out like that.Funny, looking through old articles Civ V Complete was released for $50 back in 2014. Hard to imagine Firaxis doing a bundle like that now, considering 7 already has $144 in DLC a year and a half after its release.
Bump.
>>580185842For me, it's American using Day/Month/Year.
>>580185942Your deepest, most desperate desire?
>>580186895My most desperate one is to die and stop being anxious about everything in the world ever.
>>580185942>Day/Month/YearISO 8601's YYYY-MM-DD is objectively the best way of writing dates and I hate that my job uses DDMMMYY as a legacy standard. Spoken I don't give a shit about, nobody's going to be confused if someone says September 7th or 7 September because of the context to the question.
>>580179032>and Xcom was left to rot. What happened to nu-xcom?I dropped it half-way through the first one. Between infinite ammo and very bullshitting mechanics, coupled with an artstyle of that kind of modern western sci-fi for teenagers. I just couldn't be arsed to finish it.I would pulled through if the artstyle wasn't so shitty.>and then got hit with the "shitty overpriced DLC" curse, especially for some civs that should have been in the base game. Fucking Britain didn't launch with 7 and released later as DLC, and a few other civs that have been in the whole series since Civ 1 still aren't represented.Did they try to pull a Paradox then?
>playing a game as a peaceful wilderness empire minding my own business>realize one of the ai empires unleashed the prikki at like year 30>by the time I’m aware of their existence they already have like a quarter of the galaxy and everyone around them is weakened from constantly fighting eachother>have to upend everything I’m doing so I can throw my fleets to the complete opposite end of the galaxy to make border gore and slowly invade and dispose of their planets before the prikki steamroll everyone else>50ish years later one of the empires I saved from being prikki’d turned into a genocidal empire because they had fear of the dark origin>have to throw my fleet to the opposite end of the galaxy again>both times this happens I miss out on the forge championship events because my fleets are nowhere near my capitalCringe
>>580189876>What happened to nu-xcom?It was literally left to die. Last release was Chimera Squad, a hero-focused Xcom spinoff game in 2020. Key creatives behind Nu-Xcom 1 and 2 left Firaxis at some point after 2, but there's obviously other talent in the industry capable of making turn based squad tactics games given things like Menace, the Star Wars game, the upcoming Rainbow 6 game, etc. Firaxis just hasn't given Xcom any attention, which may be for the best looking at how Civ turned out.>Did they try to pull a Paradox then?Bit of a cynical comparison, but it's not unfair. It's more that they decided to rush the release for no good reason (they just announced they're working on adding the Atomic Age and Gandhi to the game in future updates) and had an atrocious launch roster (Aztec, Babylonian, and Zulu are still snubbed to this day despite being in the series since Civ 1). 7's DLC Iis mostly just leaders/cultures, not dramatic game-defining mechanics like a Paracuck game.
>>580191320>bailing out retarded empiresyikes anon, just embrace the inward perfection mindset
>>580193005Cringe.
>>580189876>Did they try to pull a Paradox then?Civ 6 has been a framework for DLC for years now so they are just greedmaxing their own business model. Civs 1-5 only had couple expansion packs per game. Civ 6 made insane bank by selling country packs. They made entire 7 around this idea where they sell leaders and obviously entire ages as well, they just forgot to make a good game on the bottom layer.

>>580204575beetroots, carrots, cabbages... along with orchards full of apples and pears. Also a bunch of oats, emmer and rye.
>>580207119Oooh... I don't even know what emmer is, but likely more than needed to make alcohol.
>>580207481emmer is just an old form of wheat. for alcohol in this game you need barley, but you can only really grow that in regions with rich lands. my peasants have to make due to apple cider, mead and what ale I can import - which is a lot because we're sitting on a huge salt mine and exporting salt is very lucrative
>>580207976This is offensive: you can make alcohol out of everything, not just barley.
Do (You) adjust tech/tradition cost when playing Stellaris?
>>580201903Tell me about 6, is it actually better than 5 now or just a zoomer favorite?I thought it was barebones but okay at launch. Then tried it again after some dlcs but it felt like instead of just usual ai cheating resources they cheat the game rules too. Had some guy rush me at turn 20 with no cb, beat him back and took his 3 cities. Suddenly some bitch I havent even met flipped one of those cities the next turn, I dont even have time to raze it. Then 3 other guys I never met declare war over the turn because I was such a warmongerer.Savescummed to leave the rush guy a city, but then he won’t accept peace, then a couple more turns at war I got declared on by those guys I never met all the same. Didnt touch it after that.

is manor lord vaporware?
>>580220451No elves? NO SALES!
>>580211296Same story as 5, weak at launch but plenty of time developed it into a full version pretty diffferent from the base game. A lot bigger/more bloated than 5, but also allows more varied play than vanilla 5 with wide not being as harshly punished. More mechanics to interact with like districts, quests, climate change, natural disasters, but the UI's also worse. All in all it's just a different Civ game; Sid himself mentioned once that people each have "their" civ game that they'll stick with even after playing the newest entry.

Been trying Civ7 because of the free week. Did they get rid of all proximity penalties for towns? The AI is just settling shit in the middle of my empire with impunity, to seemingly no penalty unless I respond with war.Doesn't help that the numbers are so opaque now, I've gotten riots in settlements with +30 happiness and I don't know why. I'd unironically rather be playing Millennia

>>580281951Raid with light units, plant radar everywhere or use scout planes, reclaim everything you can get your hands on, bomb their backline economy. Unless the enemy is overwhelmingly ahead of you, you can reverse a bad economy with enough effort. Also, not sure how much the AI knows, but you can tell what a unit is by their icon in the fog of war.
>>580411871Yeah, but you can't tell if a building is a turret or a T2 immobile engineer. Also how do you even raid? Feel like the enemy has units or turrets everywhere.
>>580412029If I remember right, you can tell what a unit is if you scout them with a plane first. Their icon will remain until they get out of range or something. Either way, break out the artillery and make it rain. If it shoots back, it's a turret. If not, it's an engineer. As for raiding, scout, scout scout. Know what your enemy has, know where it all is, and strike where they're weakest. Tailor your strike forces to what they have, as well. Bombers work just as well as light units when it comes to sniping metal extractors. If all else fails, play UEF against an easy enemy until you get the hang of things, and then bump up the difficulty.
>>580412696>If I remember right, you can tell what a unit is if you scout them with a plane first. Their icon will remain until they get out of range or something. Either way, break out the artillery and make it rain. If it shoots back, it's a turret. If not, it's an engineer.Oh.Dammit. that's why it knew to target my auto engineers with that T2 cruiser.>If all else fails, play UEF against an easy enemy until you get the hang of things, and then bump up the difficulty.I might have to do that, I did exactly what I used to do (rush air, then spam interceptors, bombers and gunships to destroy anything trying to get near), but the AI did something I never saw: it focused on sea units and then shoot down all my units and building while I was just breaking T2 land factories.I am likely very slow and rusty.
>>580413086If you haven't played in a while it can take time to get used to things, yeah. The UEF is the most balanced faction and has a great roster of units. And that situation is exactly why you scout constantly. If you know what's happening on the battlefield you can pivot to counter it. Set your scout planes to patrol if you don't want to constantly micro them.
>>580413787I can do that, I think. I'm just used to the Cybrans, but if I remember right, the vanilla Cybrans are a bit cucked with their T2 turrets and tanks.
>>580414259Cybrans have Salems though so they're cool
>>580414524Honestly I mostly like the Cybran because the first picture I ever saw of SupCom was a Monkeylord. The whole thing took two pages, and had little zooms here and here to show off how cool the Monkeylord was.Back then, the idea of an unit being able to fire several guns at once was mind-breaking.
>>580410614>Please provide more info on the new food DLC as you unlock stuff, it seems superfluous so far.there are new resources called delicacies, and each one gives a bonus of some kind when colonists consume it. it's mostly just +5 comfort or health or whatever. there's a variety of ways to get them so there's some new supply chains. it's not groundbreaking but it's fun for flavour (heh)
>>580414259Oh, if you're cybrans then you should be great at rat tactics. Your basic unit is great for just swarming the enemy backline. I think at least one of your units has a built-in jammer, and more help to keep your bases safe-ish. Your gunships are reasonably good as well, and should be good for frontline skirmishing and backline raiding. Cybran T2 turrets are fantastic for holding ground, and T2 is when your navy really shines with the Salems and such. Also, never underestimate a sneaky jammer base in the enemy backline
>>580417867Do the AI in SupCom really react to jammers, or is it like in every fucking RTS game ever where they know you're here but can't shoot you? I have bad memories of Starcraft's AI knowing where my invisible units are. And always using a comsat scan right on their head.
>>580418373That is actually a good question. Base SupCom, I think jammers work. FAF may or may not? Depends on how they upgraded the AI. Same for any AI mods that are out there. It has been a while since I played, so take that with a grain of salt, but jammers are generally very useful.

Oh well.
Well, that's the absolute state of the Minerva colony. I found an area with great bonusses to domes (comfort and research) so I moved my first dome way farther south than originally planned. My initial landing site and logistic center is now way out of position and I should move all the resource depots to a more central position. And by the time I found the money minerals I had already built my first dome. So its either waiting until I research trains or try that naturalist habitat thing once I can order more people.

>>580610316They're a waste of both metal which requires refining into parts, electronics for the factories and engineer manpower but you do you. Polymers are infinite, scale better with production buffs, their plants don't take up domespace and you need them for other stuff as well. Plus you can get them for literally free. >>580611653>understand the game's balanceBalance is easy to understand. You don't need to code a thing to see if it's working right, if anything often times being the developer prevents you from seeing the mistakes in your product. Not being the primary developer hurts the actual development side but if the dev tools are good then that's not an issue. Lots of studios do this kind of work or outsource bits and bobs of their games to third parties like music or art or story or what not, it's the same thing really.
>>580611938Except music and art can be changed later on. Meanwhile once a game balance is fucked, it's insanely tough to change.Again, look at Unreal. Things are picking up, sad it seems like folktales are still fairly weak in terms of power stuff
I still have to secure a decent amount of water, I thinking making a big dam up stream here, but damn that those flow control things are pretty pricey
And just like that, had my first extended drought and barely made it, if it wasn't for that improvised reservoir.
>>580684249forgotten picture
>>580684120Oh hell.
>>580683950>folktales are still fairly weak in terms of power stuffYou're crazy. Windmills rule.
>>580684120speaking of which, have you guys figured out how to maximize power output?the water wheel max at 270, but I can only get 160 average, that's with the natural source flow to two rows of water wheels,Maybe if I focus flow into a narrow strait of 1 row, but then I'd imagine flooding might happen, I'm not sure one row can outweight the power output even if maxed out
>>580686605Pressure doesn't transfer well across height so keep that in mind. Just funnel it in a straight line and maybe add a tesla valve or few until it's capped and then do vertical wheels. Not worth doing for folktails since no permanent badwater imho.
>>580687231>maybe add a tesla valve or fewThe what?>then do vertical wheelsWhat do you mean?>folktails since no permanent badwater imhoAgain, but what do you mean here? Its been quite a while since I've last played so I'm a bit out of the loop.>>580686401I think this anon may be right, maybe I'll just fit some a couple more waterwheels in there, and then seems suitable for some weight batteries and wind mills. There are two badwater sources down south too, so I'll leave that to experiment more with water power contraptions.
>>580688407The tesla valve or few.
>>580689529Ohhh I see, actual tesla valve, as in>funneling flow increases fluid velocityGotcha
>>580688407That's the same anon. But anyway. Related is a tesla valve, the flow from the tributaries either slows down the main stream or if the design is reversed speeds it up. In your case increasing power.Ironteeth have permanent badwater. Folktails do not. So if you're playing with long droughts that's not going to cut it.>vertical wheelsEither use pumps or some creative terraforming to make an artificial waterfall. It's not as powerful as a long line of wheels but it's very compact.
>>580688407>>580689928One other neat trick you can do if you're going for the line approach is stacking the wheels in a closed pressurised tunnel. If you're not against messing with automation you can even do a perpetual machine using flow gates. And if everything is paved over with metal and artificial walls there's very little seepage or evaporation either.

>>580665112What breakthroughs did you get?
The surviving mars tech tree seems I dunno how I would describe it disjointed maybe.Last time I played was back in the pre remake days and the linear progression with techs there was maybe bit frustrating but manageable. With this new system you have so many options but if you don't play with easy settings research points are very hard to come by and there's lot of "filler" techs too so the path to any significant objective is pretty arduous.I spawned on a plateau, turns out there's no metal up here so I need to get down. I'm going by with 100 sponsor research. What are my options here, I could attempt to gain more sponsor research or funding but those are behind something like 5 techs which is going to take months. I could go for the tunnels but that's again months away. Lastly I can make a giant ramp which I find least interesting but that's just one point and right at the starting circle even if it does cost an expensive rover import. I'm not sure if I like this version. I think maybe if I played 5 or 10 games the random and blind techs would get boring and this free form system allows for more variety of builds but dunno for just a game or two.>>580708119Meteor showers almost never hit anything of yours. Gonna dump my autistic review of Civ 7 now that i've played it the entire free weekend, before i forget everything. TL;DR it's 6 + city lights mod with inflated prices in an era where the previous games are out for a fraction.AI>AI is still 5/6 vanilla levels of stupid. Likes to target scouts instead of fortifying or retreating, making it easy to taunt them out of attacking your units. Also noticed modern era ais not update ship of the lines to dreadnoughts despite them clearly having the tech and gptbugs>Using both WASD and mouse drag to pan can cause the cam to move indefinitely>unit action icons move around dependin on how many actions it has. Also the heal button disappeared from all units at one point and had to reload save to fixloyalty>this was mentioned already by anons, but no loyalty means AIs will forward settle you if you let them. Since canals are delayed for a future update, say goodbye to strait cities since the ai is too dumb to make them unless you want to permanently lose influence razingmissing stuff from prev. civs>no trade route lens - have to select individual trade units to see their routes>aircraft carriers have a slower movement than dreadnoughts and are treated as commanders. Hence, you can't bunch them up with a naval commander and need to manually move a boat atop them to prevent snipes since there is otherwise no unit attaching>NO city liberation, nor city trading outside of peace deals, with the civ you are at war with. How do you try copying paracock CBs w/o making diplomacy screens to negotiate balkanizing with your allies??On that note, you still aren't reminded to renegotiate open borders before your units get pushed out, same as 5/6. Noticed, 3 out of 4 times after peace ais are willing to sign open borders at least. But if they don't and your unit is stuck on a surrounded neutral tile, lmao.pricingui>NO policy yield changes on the cards and no tile tacks. That's the start of it. Still needs ui mods like 6, whew
>>580929813Forgot to add my thoughts on pricing, but just look at Brush & Blade priced as much as an expansion despite being 2 civs and 2 leaders. They are really counting on weeaboos/goreaboos dumping money kek. Now time to forget about this game
>>580929813Civ VII's absolute bungling really makes me root for Humankind 2, solely as a full circle on the Civ Killer meme. Amplitude now has six great Civ games and two bad Humankind games to analyze for what works and what doesn't, making Humankind 2 a better successor to Civ VI is definitely in reach.

>>580950051Worst thing about japs is they're limited by new applicants but if you roll clones or such they're awesome. Specialist performance is really good, automated mines got nerfed but still very convenient and the flying drones are chef's kiss. You should give russia a go sometimes as well. Extended rocket time can be mitigated but their driller rovers are incredibly useful and one of the best alternatives to mo-hole when paired with asteroids.
>>580910695Just realised the launch is in like 3 days time and there's literally no info on the last faction. They're really hauling ass to get this shit over the line as abandonware so they can focus on Humankind 2
>>580953039>but if you roll clones or such they're awesomeDo biorobots count as clones or such?
>>580958663Yes.
>>580959182Japs building robots is kinda on point tooThat said, I went for the full RP route and decided to map the entire underground first to find the be best spot for my first dome. So it's Sol 33 and I haven't had a single human down here yet. The Indians are seething mad at me.Well, at least I can start with a medium dome right away.
BLOODY BASTERD REDEEM THE DOMES NOW SAAAAR
>>580959487having your first dome be underground is definitely somethingyou'll have basically infinite water though
>>580959487Only I'd put domes here if space is adequate. You can get unlimited extraction from underground deposits even without breakthroughs and space is at premium there. That area where you have your dome is 12-24 extractors easy.
>>580961123It's the area with the magical deep pit wonder, I put the dome there because I think it will eventually benefit from the pit. Unless it has a mapwide effect.Either way, the dome is almost finished, the first colonists are on the way and it too late to tear it down and rebuild now. What bugs should zey eat? Mealworms seems like the most efficient for pure food output, but I should probably throw in some cockroaches for the extra meat.
>>580961672food is more important than delicacies when starting off
>>580961672Keep in mind the pit needs a very large structure built on top of the edge and slightly beyond. Unless they changed something in the latest patch that is.
>>580962421It doesn't seem that bigI'm more annoyed that it's not in range of the dome and there's exactly 1 spot you're allowed to place itI'm gonna have to build another trainstation there, unless you tell me that colonists can use shuttle hubs to go there, I want to build one around that are anyway
>>580965661I'll never stand in the way of more trains, at worst I'll suggest a better route if I believe I see one. That said, if you find me nagging you I don't have a problem with fucking off.>not in range of the domeThat's what I meant. Trainstations got buffed for increased range and colonists can commute past several stations as long as they're on the same rail line. You pass that law for unlimited underground resources, maybe luck out with that breakthru that does the same everywhere and then plant 6-7 extractors, each amplified, on each of those nodes and a pair of tribs when you can afford them to avoid having to maintain them. You're pretty much permanently set for everything other than exotics with that one area.
>magic ayylien artifact turned 5 of my dudes into fucking DRONESWHAT THE FUCK
The drone conversion shit counts as unnatural deaths, which swept my applicant pool clean of every singe specialization I need right now.It might unironically be over. Colonists were the biggest struggle already, and this bullshit event basically deleted my pool.

I kind of rage quitted and started a new game as the terraforming iniative and their horrible shade of greenWondering where to place my first dome. It's either on the vista site near my inital landing site, in the hope that +10 comfort will make the founders breed super fast and let me skip through most of the founding phase. Maybe connect it per train station to the rare metals up north, but this faction is well-funded at least so I'm not that desperate for it right now. I'll have to get by with what metal I can find on the surface, but it should be enough for the time being. The other option is the research site with a metal deposit north west of the landing site. I could try to get some early research up and secure a steady metal income, but I will need to build two trainstations and a fairly long railway to connect it to the landing site.I'm leaning towards the former. Also I picked the hydro engineer for RP and this colony site had like three bars of water in the preview, yet my starting area is so full of water holy fuck

got a bit creative trying to figure out space for storage stuff in here, particularly proud of the setup below the paper maker.Of course, leaving a bit more space for extra stuff, but honestly, not even needed.
>>580992243Told you.
Its neat to experiment with the flow gates, seems that at 0.3 m3/s the wheels will stop. But the best thing is the automation stuff, the flow gates will open up when gravity battery reaches a threshold, and then another set will open gates from the upper reservoir to the lower one.
View from another angle, I know I could just build up to the height of the upper dam, but it feels more aesthetic this way.>>580992254Tell me about it, I'm taking enough time just posting this and almost sleeping on the spot
Quick view from the mess of the town, I know its barely anything to brag about, but I quite like what a organic mess it is. Now that the factory part is all the way on the other side of the map, I'm thinking of the demolishing all that stuff in the wall and start building a vertical favela there.>>580993858Unfortunately what I mean is I don't know what else to do in the game.
>>580995154well...start a new game on a different map then.
Just a side note, the map has this cool river cave, I dug a tunnel to tap into the source, now it takes water all the way around to that pool on my town. And when the badtide comes it has that outlet to drain the shit out.I guess one possible goal for next time is maximizing population, and building a bigger reservoir, maybe another drain tunnel specifically for the bad tide.

How's the late-game lag situation on stellaris? Did I hear correctly that it's a lot better or did I hallucinate that? It's honestly what's kept me from playing it more.
>>581162023you too>>581187904It used to be a problem, at least for some, but I am not sure how it is right now.
>>581191085It only ever became a serious issue for me in the "you've already won" phase when it came to vanilla, but since I started to use post-post-endgame mods trying to push further past required being genocidal to keep things moving past a slow crawl. Trying to watch a fight was a very dangerous prospect too.Your allies never understand that your genocides are for the stability of the universe either.
>>581176450why does it remind me of warcraft
>single biome planets in stellarisI wonder if tundra or steppe planets are even possible. I am pretty sure those would at least have large ice caps and some deserts, maybe even a temperate zone on the equator. They wouldn't just be "tundra" planets. But maybe I am wrong.
>>581197045habitable single biome planets are kinda retarded, but they're also a staple of sci fi so a kitchen sink game like Stellaris had to throw 'em in
>>581193985Because you have no imagination and you cannot describe a game without going "it's a mix of X and Y" like the basic bitch you are?
>>581198930You can have ice world, and probably hot desert world, although, biodiversity in those would probably be poor.>>581201017rude

>>581201963>You can have ice world, and probably hot desert worldI wonder if higher life can actually develop on such planets. On earth modern humans started somewhere in Africa and only later migrated and adapted to climates with extreme conditions like sand or ice deserts.
>>581202982>modern humans started somewhere in AfricaI read they started in Iceland, in Ultima Thule?
>>581202982>On earth modern humans started somewhere in AfricaYou know that theory is largely discredited right?
>>581203081calm down /pol/

>>581202982Don't know.>>581203081Oldest fossils of Homo Sapiens were found in modern day Marroco, which is in Africa.Australopithecus before that is also from Africa. Before that? I read theories that deeper down the tree our ancestors may have been from somewhere in Eurasia, but who knows for sure. And further back still you go the harder is it to know from which ancient continents our line comes.
>>581203204Oh, sorry, I thought you were going to go full retard "actually the earth was seeded by space engineers" or some stupid crap.
>>581203295>>581202982That said, speaking on ice worlds. Look up Cryogenian period and slushball earth theory. It's actually just before when first animal fossils appear, maybe first ones (sponges) where just during that time. And certainly bacteria and other stuff were surviving in mostly frozen planet. Although, you were asking about higher life. I doubt on that part, because even for a long time after that (hundreds of millions of years), there was not even wood as a material, or breathable atmosphere on the surface.

I don't care how much people doompost. EL2 is a good game, it just needs a lot of love. Namely,>improved worldgen>tidefall settings>ability to raze your own settlements>strategic resource rework>tech tree reworkPets are pretty dumb though. Having to go out of your way to collect them by doing out-of-game activities - some of which are time-limited fomoslop - feels like lazy engagement farming.
>>581307505What's different from EL1?
>>581297128Need real color version...>>581305092Not much to gain, and its not as easy as just flying there. How do you grow food, keep people healthy from lower gravity and solar radiation and shit like that.
Are there any city builders that you can actually control a character in on a meaningful level? I assume not but I figure I'd ask.
>>581315634that's not very city builder-y
>>581315634...how do you mean?
Penis builders
>>581315634I mean, there are village builders, like Conan Exiles or Romestead, but they're not really city builders.
>>581307505But the problem is it feels like the old games did get a lot of love and the Humankind announcement makes it seem like they won't give it the effort it still needs.
>>581303408Because Nature is incomprehensible. The real answer is probably something to do with atmospheric dynamics we don't understand because atmospheric dynamics are complicated and chaotic. it could also be related to magnetic fields, but I don't know where I got that idea so don't quote me on it.
>>581305092Shit's hard, plenty can go wrong and even if everything goes right it costs a whole lot for questionable gains. Your best hope is that the US and China get in enough of a dickwaving contest that they start trying to one-up each other when it comes to space shit like the good old days of the soviets.
>>581307505I wasn't doomposting until is saw humankind 2 get announced, now it's hard to feel like it's going to get said lots of love even if could turn out good if it did.
Was whining about the Humankind 2 announcement yesterday, it just feels like they needed to get a game out the door to make enough money to keep the lights on after the Sega split and it means probably permanently ruining EL for it. Just feels bad all around. If ES3 is good though I'll come crawling back of course.

(civ 6) i thought id encountered a bug or something sure mansa musa has buy bonus but this much?giant robots are 6k raw 4.8 mansa musa, but this city was giving me 1.2kturns out, id never noticed this city state that id liberated before, as much as 80% cost reduction on buy units if you have a maxed encampmentjesus fucking christ thats brokeni thought id seen all the civ6 there was to see, holy fuck thats broken
>>581307505if you mean endless legend, you can stack % bonuses and reach like +300% atk or +300% hp etc and create 1000 atk or 1000 defence monsters if you let a character level to like lv24shit was greatbut people never level like that through combat, youd need to put a combat guy as your capital governer turn 1 and later bring him out as a commander with all the good % items later to do it

>>581358856her ass is insane in the remaster tho
>>581281410If you lose your only rocket it's pretty much game over if you don't have emergency funds. You just gotta buy a new one and there aren't many good ways to earn money once you exhaust the one time uses like scanning. You just gotta rely on the trickle from embassy and sponsor funding and the like if you want to keep going
>>581359065Damn... No wonder all the zergs tapped that to a point she can't sit anymore.
>>581359445>>581281410Also I should mention that some factions like the Church can get a new rocket in their mission goals but that doesn't apply to everyone. It's only relevant on the Church and Paradox sponsors since those start with 1 (Europe and Terraforming also get one but they start with 2). Sponsor goals could also be something you get for a quick cash boost, Japan has 2B in there but if you already cashed it in then that's no go as well.

>>581373379
>>581368776>>581373379I'm the one that asked about what happened with the new Civ. Asking again what happened with EL2. I have like 5 hours of the first one, but I got bored.
>>581373928
>>581367939I want to buy it but I know my computer will struggle with it, and I didn't even like the first game
>>581374190>Sega owned Amplitude pre Endless Space 2>Amplitude ends up unprofitable even after ES2 and Humankind>Sega sells back Amplitude to Amplitude at a big loss just to be rid of it>Amplitude is now independent and still unprofitable>needs cash now>has two IPs that matter, Endless and Humankind>shit out an EL2 early access to keep the company afloat>work on Humankind 2 in the background>EL2 sucks ass because it was rushed and all their goodwill is burned because everyone knows now it was half assed on purpose with the Humankind announcementSomething like this
>>581375960What about the space one? I have like 21 hours in the definite edition(yes, I around that time I discovered that civ-type and MoO/GalCiv-likes are not my thing).
>>581377196ES2 is almost 10 years old. They released a coop twinstick shooter tower defense game that flopped between Humankind and EL2.Safe to say any talent they had when they made the original games left long ago and EL2 shows this. Endless games had very unique factions that played extremely different from each other. With only 6 factions right now, they are hardly distinguishable from each other.
>>581377196ES2 is a very good 4X in general and I like it a lot, some of the later DLCs are a bit suspect but you can turn them off in the settings if you don't like them. EL1 has this diamond in the rough feel and ES2 was very good so people were excited for more 4X games from but it's now been two shitty ones in a row so there's no reason to think about Humankind 2.
>>581377776Dungeon of the Endless 2 was bad too? Or was the name Endless Dungeon?
>>581378759>>581334494make up your minds
>>581378549It was a complete departure of the original game. It was more of a MOBA tower defense game. No pixel graphics and the characters had awful designs
>>581379394Oof. I still play the first one occasionally. Also have been playing the first humankind and it's a shame it's a mixed bag. The combat and the map are miles ahead of Civ.
>>581380367>Also have been playing the first humankind and it's a shame it's a mixed bag.Like all Civ games since 5 the final version is vastly different from the release version. For what it's worth everyone who's stuck with Humankind over the years seems to think it's great, but on the flipside launch version was disappointing enough that the vast majority dropped it and made their reviews then. Hence the "Mostly Positive" Recent/"Mixed" Overall Steam reviews. For a little more perspective, release Humankind was better implemented than current Civ 7. That's how much Firaxis fucked up.
