I've been pleasantly surprised by the scale of the maps. It's my opinion that modern crpgs have gone too far in the "don't want to risk confusing the player or having them walk a lot!!" direction, so while it's tedious sometimes to run from one end of the map to the other, it does give a nice realistic sense of scale to the region.I think I'm probably in the minority there though. I enjoyed all the BG1 wilderness for example.
