Sorcererbros, what spells should I be using? I tried out Grand Decanter but for some reason it doesn't dispel Blackdog auras, the skills just cancels after the animation is done, and it does crap damage too. Grand Seism was good though, and I like Grand Salamander. Of the two base Maister skills, which is better, Maelstrom or Meteoron? And how do I make Brontide do good damage?And on a somewhat related note, why is Celerity bad? It seems pretty good to me, though having to run into a battle when I play Mage to buff my Pawns is risky and annoying I'll admit.

>>585514896It depends on your party composition a little. For bread and butter skills I think you should always have Salamander, Scism, Flare and Chilling Embrace to cover most situations. The last two slots I can't decide on either. Maelstrom and Meteorn are too inconsistent for the restrictions normally, but they're great for cluster fuck fights. Also they're extremely lame in 2 so I don't want to use them. Brontide doesn't feel strong at all unless things are drenched, but I could be using it wrong. The best option would probably be Spellhold + one of the two Maister skills so you could cast one immediately, then use that distraction to cast the next safely and so on.Personally though, I use Decanter and FrigorGrand Decanter would be an awesome spell if we weren't limited on skill slots, but in general it's only handy if you're not running a Mage and don't want to abuse "exploits" like technically being immortal while eating. IE you're a dumb roleplay fag like me. Frigor isn't strong damage wise, but it's a quick spell that deals a lot of knockdown value + some physical damage and creates a little platform that's handy for many things in and out of combat.I miss Glicel more than anything else in the franchise

It slows everyone else to an appreciable extent. >free slotI mostly rotate between Grand Hagol/Salamander, and use Augural flare for bigger targets like blemmies or annoying ones like Barbatoses. I also note elemental weaknesses and switch accordingly (some enemies seem to randomize their weaknesses). Grand Brontide comes out against blemmies, barbatoses, and Dullahans. Slapping weak spots with the fast whip does a lot of damage. When final boss farming, I mostly use augural flare and Hagol with the idea of using flare cheese to counter his teleport cheese.

When should I go to Checkpoint Rest Town? I've done Monster Culling, got the house in Vernwerth, did what I could with Sven, Claw Them Into Shape, Scaly Invaders, just directed Melve people to Harve Village, started the quest for the mage kid to get spellbooks, finished the elf bow questline, did a bit of cave exploring, some other early seeming stuff, etc. Not sure if I should go to Checkpoint Rest Town for gear upgrades now or do the Caged Magistrate / more exploring and not worry about Checkpoint Rest town for now. I know there's a book and duospear in the forgotten battlefield so going there seems useful now too.

For what its worth, Thief is no longer the answer to everything anymore. now that enemies actually resist Implicate and smokescreen doesn't open enemies up for a crit, Thief can't handle groups of enemies as good as Fighter or Warrior.
