CHEF got teased at the end of the Seeker presentation. But they also accidentally left a lot of files for the DLC in the Devotion update, most notably music and sound files for all the survivors and enemies, very clearly named too. Also had moveset lists for the survivors and new final boss, so we've had a pretty decent idea of what the DLC is gonna include for a while now.

Time between SotV's announcement and release was 152 days.
Seekers' announcement-release period is 290 days. That's almost double the dev time on its own.

We actually do know what he's gonna be like somewhat, due to all the shit left in the files. His primary is a sword slash, secondary is shooting lunar spikes, utility is a dash that seems to deal damage on impact and his special is a chargeable laser. No clue what his passive is though.

Did anyone else realize that the only true custom made attack CHEF got was the cleaver? Look at his kit:

- the burn is just arti's Flamethrower
-roller is Mult's shift with the ability to hold it down
-Special is literally Scav's Thwibs (they even look to be the same color), just made larger and changed to apply the oil debuff as opposed to proccing on-hit kill effects

The issue I have is that Chef is just a cobbled bunch of mechanics we've already seen before with little to no additions whatsoever. Hell, his new passive is literally Rex's alt-r built in. Also, all of his returning mechanics got changed in functionality just so they could copy pre-existing moves as well, like how Sear is now close range and held as opposed to shot in burst over a longer range.

I don't know, I don't mind it all too much and I'll still probably play as him, but to me I feel like the changes don't come from a good place gameplay wise, they come from them needing to cut back on dev time and actively choosing the easiest route possible to implement him.

Next is Ifrit. The kit is outlined, should be easier to implement and smooth out than Colossus. Yes, Ifrit model is scuffed, they are all from the same source of just being made by a man like 4 years ago just for show, never intended to be in-game. That's why Spitter is almost 10k polys, when he should be around 4k. Ifrit is even worse, original model is like 300k (it does look cool tho), decimating it turns it into a veiny dick. So unless someone unfucks the model expect Ifrit to look rough. We are not currently working on Ifrit, since we are on a break till modpocalypse. Well, break would've happened either way, since I do need a small breather.
After Ifrit is a secret, both from you, since I want it to be a surprise and from me, since animator man didn't show me the model. I know who it is, I just don't know how the model looks.
And after that we are out of models, we are going to start reaching out to people, asking either for existing models or asking to make new ones from scratch. There has been people who have expressed interest in making models for us, but we said "later" so we don't end up with another SS2 where you have an entire drive of unused models.
And last thing, we thought about reaching out to that ex RoR2 animation dev that showed up in modcord asking if someone wants anything animated. But since we have our hands full we decided against it, so he got scooped up by SS2 devs, so expect nothing from that guy.

I honestly wouldn't doubt that Hopoo wants to silently forget about Returns since nothing relevant about updates has been officially posted for 7 months. Compare that to when they were working on RoR2 where something was being posted at least once a month it seemed.

Instead I see nobody wanting to even touch Returns and the thread has been milked so bone dry that people are back to RoR2, but in wacky mods era territory. On the positive side I somehow trust Gearbox to at least make the gameplay for the RoR2 dlc good.

To unlock Chef, you gotta go through the green portal to the fractured alter map or whatever the fuck its called, but you gotta have three items: cautious slug, bison steak, and infusion. In multiplayer it's all local to you, so you need the items yourself. Three separate people can't have infusion slug & steak and give them to chef, you gotta have all three items yourself.
