Why do they put crafting in mmos?

It's so boring. If games are meant to be an "experience"/fun, then how is crafting/working fun?

That's why I just skip it, but there are some mmos where you can ONLY get good gear by taking part in it - in that case, I just don't play it anymore. I'm tired of labor, and I will never take part in it again - although I'm sure the golems still will.

Play Dofus and you'll understand. I don't know any other mmorpg that implemented crafting as successfully.

I agree, it's stupid, the only argument for it is that it somehow stimulates the economy, but then a lot of the games that have crafting have some of the worst economies you can think of, no goldsinks, minimal tax, basically endless inflation of currency, and in some cases you can't even trade anything that would matter so what's the point?
FFXIV comes to mind.

It's just filler grind in a lot of games, you have to play a game where crafting is properly integrated into the rest of the game instead of just a source of welfare gear. In Star Wars Galaxies the crafting was pretty much a whole game unto itself. Some players actually enjoy the social and economic management aspects of playing a merchant, but most games don't actually support this beyond having a bot comb auction houses or whatever.

It works in full loot PvP MMORPGs where players actually need crafted equipment.

MMOs suck in general. It's a failed and dead genre (and rightfully so). They were popular in the 2000s because retards back then didn't know better. They're highly repetitive, grindy and boring by nature. You have to put in thousands of hours into most MMO "games" before you even get to the "fun" part (PvP). The only fun part of MMOs used to be market arbitrage, but most MMOs these days have systems in place to combat it.

this, in WoW over 90% of crafted items are beyond dogshit and sadly the only good items require the max skill of a profession and are usually locked behind massive grinds for reputation or whatever the fuck. It's the reason I pick mining/skinning I don't have to invest any more time than necessary and make a shit ton of extra cash out of it.

to waste your time, I spent hours crafting for my character in wow for a few extra stat points that didn't matter once they started implementing arena gear

Hard work generates value and immersion. This type of thinking is what generates goyslop lootbox games.
